  2. Hi sicogary, I have a lens just like this one for sale, more information on the thread below. > Pictures here also. http://tferradans.com/blog/?p=5354 http://www.eoshd.com/comments/gallery/album/112-lomo-35-opf-18/ Unfortunately I never got the anamorphic back working - it does need some fine adjustment - but the spherical part (the whole big lens) is pretty amazing. It also features a rear-macro-thing that allows focusing reaaaal close (like things TOUCHING the front glass).
  3. i think the pre36 and 36 are equal in this matter, but I don't have mine around... The rotation is veeery close to 360 degrees. And the throw is close to 1cm, i'd say. not precise values, but can help if you want some rough info immediately. :P
  4. After over a year of "maybe" and asking thousands of questions to them, I shipped my lens yesterday. The original housing was VERY damaged, the front filter thread was broken, and held by glue and another UV ring, alignment was trashed (extremely hard past some weird point), and lots of scratches. Oh, and close focus mod too, so some folks had already almost dropped the front element to the ground, since it doesn't stop spinning... etc... (the previous owner was really mean to it) I really like the lens, and think the mod will be great, even for renting it out (I would never rent it the way it was), and if I eventually decide to sell it, the mod also incresases it's value. :P
  5. Wow, this much for a taking lens? I guess I'm gonna be selling mine then! It's not gonna pair up after Van Diemen finishes his job, anyway. :P
  6. Century 58mm and Isco Widescreen 2000 SOLD. Just the Panasonic remains. I'll ajust it's price soon. :)
  7. here, pictures of both lenses: 80mm http://www.eoshd.com/comments/gallery/album/113-lomo-squarefront-80mm-t/ 20-120mm (does not include the OCT-19 to EOS adapter) http://www.eoshd.com/comments/gallery/album/112-lomo-35-opf-18/ Olex informed me today that adjusting the rear anamorphic costs ~$150 as well.
  8. some samples from the 20-120mm http://tferradans.com/blog/?p=5354
  9. Hey guys, I'm stripping down my gear to the very minimum, and have some lenses with small issues that could go cheaper than ebay, or anywhere else, actually. Payment through paypal only. contact me through PM or email to ferradans@gmail.com LOMO 35 OPF 18, 12-120mm, OCT 19 mount. This comes with the rear anamorphic adapter. The spherical (most important and huge part) is working perfectly, but the anamorphic rear needs some work, images are very blurred when it's put behind the lens. I was also going to ship this to Olex first, but then decided to sell it as it is, just because I need the money. Lens comes in an incredible russian aluminum case, in which it fits perfectly. Has a very small fungus spot in one of the front elements. US$4200 shipped. Pictures of both lenses coming up soon!
  10. Tony, I have a Century here, how much are you willing to pay? :)

D is the biggest, and it's not only the size of the rear element, but the size of the whole lens! :P
  12. Hahaha, ok, I must admit, the one shot that everyone is talking about is my favorite one as well. hahahaha And, yes, it would've been awesome to have a split diopter there! Gábor, here's a couple frames for you! Original DNG, from the camera, and the final version, TIFF. https://www.dropbox.com/s/b7myl8fbts6jk7r/EP1-shot01-ORIGINAL.dng https://www.dropbox.com/s/ykujpup5sid5vq2/EP1-shot01-FINAL.tif https://www.dropbox.com/s/5cffzizzk344nyv/EP1-shot02-ORIGINAL.dng https://www.dropbox.com/s/rvfcvr6qr3xq7q2/EP1-shot02-FINAL.tif https://www.dropbox.com/s/uh3gkhnn6gmwr2y/EP1-shot03-ORIGINAL.dng https://www.dropbox.com/s/t0hnbn6sqqggoyl/EP1-shot03-FINAL.tif
  13. Thanks guys! We got a bit stuck between episodes 2 and 3, but it's gonna move forward soon. hahah Yes, the location is at University of Sao Paulo, an abandoned construction site. There are more places like this around town, but they're very little safe for a small crew and lots of gear. It takes a while to find a decent one. :( Gábor, sure! I'll do it tomorrow, because it's really late and I gotta teach some classes tomorrow. :P Youtube didn't fuck it up so much, though. The Foton can be soft many times, and footage is a bit grainy too (ISO 1250). It gets pretty good if you choose the biggest resolution (1440p I believe).
  14. So, as mentioned a few weeks back, I've just completed the first episode of a webseries shot with anamorphic lenses and MagicLantern raw. For this one, we used a LOMO Foton-A, and there's only ONE Iscorama shot. Episode 2 was almost entirely Isco, except for the very beginning. As soon as it's ready, it'll show up here too. Don't forget to enable the english subtitles, as all dialogues are in portuguese. :P
  15. The images are awesome, Seb, congrats! The flare one is amazing. About cats, you could've ended your sentence at "Cats are perfect". hahaha
  16. I've looked into this before, and Lightroom has nothing like Pixel Aspect Ratio. Nothing that can help anamorphic shooters. I grade my stills there, and then de-stretch in PS...
  17. Just came across this 95mm +1.25 Fujinon, great for extreme close ups with an Isco 54 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fujinon-close-up-lens-ECL8095-/190963498593?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item2c764fbe61 I wouldn't go for the Buy-it-Now price, but the $100 seems ok.
  18. I've been hunting for one of these since I got into anamorphics, with little to no luck at all. About a year ago, there was an Isco Centavision on ebay, for 900 euro, but it was just like Redstan's, double focus system. The "regular" centavision IS a double focus lens. Andrew's isn't. His is more like an Isco 42 (identical in comparison), but with a 2x stretch.
  19. Yes indeed, these are very light options that fit well on the 5D. :) (I actually have a Century for sale, if you're interested).
  20. The funniest thing about using 3.56:1 aspect ratio, like Rob's clip is that you can notice the uneven compression on the border area, where things appear thinner and get into proportion as they reach the center of the frame. Of course, this is HIGHLY increased as you use a wider lens - I'd say Rob shot this with a Helios 44. Longer lenses don't show this part of the anamorphic glass, and avoid this weirdness. hahaha
  21. This is absolutely true. If you shoot raw, you're able to use a 4:3 portion of the sensor, and the destretching gets you 2.66:1 aspect ratio. I think that 2x lenses are really wide, but when you can incorporate the look into a shoot, it's absolutely amazing and stands out of the crowd almost immediately. Double focus was too painful for me, so I ended up selling all my lenses which worked this way. Over the last year I had over a dozen anamorphics shipped in and out of Brazil, and just recently I've made up my mind about the ones I'll definitely keep (LOMO Foton-A and Iscorama pre-36) and the rest that I'll sell (about 4-5 lenses). It's not an easy game, and that's why too many people get in and out so quickly. It's waaaay more complex than shooting regular footage, but once you master it, it's waaaay more beautiful and has a ton of character. :P
  22. I use a Zacuto EVF, with the loupe. It's great, specially for run and gun, mounted on a shoulder rig. :)
