  1. Hello EOSHD forum First time poster and long time reader here. I wrote/directed a short film based on Aussie sci-fi novelist Greg Egan's story 'Axiomatic'. I shot this on a 5DmkIII with Zeiss and Takumar primes and the older 1080p ML Raw hack as the 4k option wasn't available yet. Please feel free to check out the teaser trailer on Vimeo:

  3. Here's a music video I directed and DOP'd recently, using BMCC 2,5K, 5D2 (ML RAW) and RX10 MK2. We shot it over the span of two nights, the chosen location caused some heavy time constraints but it was visually perfect for us. I wanted it to have an authentic old school film noir look and feel, so I ended up using some heavy diffusion on RX10 and BMCC, and vintage lenses on the 5D, and also lighting it in a very vintage fashion. Of the three cameras, 5D definitely delivered my favourite images. The set of lenses used on it were Petzval 85/2.2, Super-Takumar 50/1.4 and Takumar 35/2.3. They gave it the signature swirly bokeh and naturally soft, dreamy look. I continually keep being blown away by how good ML RAW looks. BMCC was a solid performer, but due to the crop using vintage lenses on it becomes an exercise in futility. I had the Petzval on it for a few shots, but most of the Blackmagic footage was with Sigma 18-35 and some heavy diffusion filters (Cokin-P Diff1/2 and Pastel). RX10 was used only for the slow motion at the end, and even with about 5KW of lighting blasted at it, it still struggled - which is nothing new, really. The shots turned out acceptable after some heavy filtering. The Petzval lens was a new one for me, as prior to this I'd had only time for some small walkaround tests with it. I'm actually amazed at how beautifully that lens performs. Definitely a keeper. Any feedback is welcome.
  4. Hi, I shot this video in Dolomites, Italy, in Marmolada mountain area during 8 days vacations. Filmed on a Canon 5D Mark III entirely in Magic Lantern raw format (mlv) 1920x1080. I used Komputerbay 64GB 1000x and Sandisk extreme pro 32GB memory cards. Nexto DI ND2730 500GB photo storage device was super helpful with archiving those lots amount of data in the field. Most of the shots were made with canon 16-35mm f2.8 L II but canon 100mm f2.8 L Macro was also used. Smooth shots were made with Glidecam HD2000. Regarding Magic Lantern - i had absolutely no problem with it in the field. It worked brilliantly, had some few minor crashes but nothing to worry about. Huge amount of data is no problem when you have a device like nextodi or similar with you. Copying 64GB card takes about 8-10 minutes so if you have two cards (i had 64 and 32GB) you can shoot almost continuosly. Please tell me what you think.
  5. So, as mentioned a few weeks back, I've just completed the first episode of a webseries shot with anamorphic lenses and MagicLantern raw. For this one, we used a LOMO Foton-A, and there's only ONE Iscorama shot. Episode 2 was almost entirely Isco, except for the very beginning. As soon as it's ready, it'll show up here too. Don't forget to enable the english subtitles, as all dialogues are in portuguese. :P
  6. Finally got around to finishing this off. Was a bit of a nightmare due to hard drive space & a slow computer. Filmed on a Canon 60D, Helios 44-2 & Iscorama 54 (more details on Vimeo).
  7. When you are shooting with ML and defining a 4:3 aspect ratio are you using the same height as normal 16:9 shooting or does this force you into a center-cut crop mode?
