I wonder if that Motel shot is all natural lighting. Very nice looking, highlights aren't blown out.

Those shots are very well composed and are also nice looking locations.

He claims it was all just natural light.

Bullshit. I have never seen any footage out of the PK4 that looks like a BMPCC or a BMCC. And apparently everyone that has bought one on here must be broken camera because I haven't seen really Any footage from them on here either. Talk is cheap on both sides.

But sure as goofy as the PK4 is, it is better in a few respects than the old ones. But that was a not a hard task to accomplish. I am not buying one, that's a fact. I'll buy a GH5s.  Same look, better camera..

What do you mean by goofy? I don't see anything goofy about this camera. I love my micro, but that thing is 100% goofy. I love my pocket, but it's as goofy as can be. I'm thinking you just chose the wrong word to explain your position, because a p4k is definitely not goofy. I'm thinking you've seen it online and don't like the way it looks by reading your further comments. Have you used one? Have you held it in your hand for a weekend of shooting? Having used a pocket, a micro, a U4.6k, a FS7, an A7s, blah blah, this camera feels great in your hand. The screen is amazing. The ergonomics work well for you, has all the other features you don't need to spend extra money and hang a monitor off of to get, and no, I have yet to rig mine. I put a neck strap on it like a DSLR, because I'm not quite sure if any of the gimbals are worth it, currently, and although I like the way the tilta cage looks, it isn't available yet. This camera is anything but goofy, man. Give it a shot. Maybe you'll change you mind.

Yeah M43 cameras aren't the greatest idea if you need a wide lens. The Rokinon 14mm 2.8 is a good option, though not the greatest of quality.

I've found the Olympus 17mm 1.8 is a great affordable option. Pretty cheap second hand. I always used the Chinese focal reducers with good results.

Tokina 11-16 is a nice option. Get the OG one and save. Standard 77mm filter thread. With Viltrox vignettes only at widest on P4k.

The camera has arguably the best interface available in a small or large camera and it's incredibly fast to use on set or on the move.

4k ProRes HQ is pretty ideal and we edit it remotely on macbooks all the time.

People who are actually using it seem to be pretty much blown away by both the camera and it's IQ.

I've been loving RAW 4:1. Super easy to work with.

I'm thinking of adapting M42 lenses to my BMP4K, using a M42 to EF adapter on top of my current Viltrox EF to micro43 speedbooster. Is this a bad idea, guys?

Why wouldn't you? Then you have access to Helios 40, Jupiter 9, etc.. I have them adapted to Nikon and then added filter step rings to them for NDs and ProMist. Softens up and adds character to 4k image. Just be careful of flaring. It can get cray in ways that you may not want.

does this camera suffers from aliasing? would it be noticeable on a large screen as a movie theatre? I need to understand if use it as DOP, for short movies that smay be projected on very large cinema screens.

    thx

I haven't noticed any in my short time with it.

A loupe solution... Looks kinda Homemade. But it does have a opening in the bottom to use the touch screen when its on.

I don't see any way to adjust with a diopter here. You have to have perfect vision from this distance to use this.  Luckily I haven't had an issue seeing the screen in the day yet, as I'm a total fan of loupes. Have several Zacuto ones I love.

In the past two weeks at some point, my camera has started emitting a high pitch noise from inside, which my mic and shotgun mic both pick up. Anyone else had this happen? I'm going to have to contact BMD about getting it fixed. :(

No issue like this for me.

You know I have never had to interview on a set like that. I can't imagine how a person would not be intimidated, and could relax, and be yourself!

It would be even more difficult when the person you're engaging with seems to have Mickey Mouse ears. ?

Anyone with this camera have any of the issues posted on the bmd forum?

    - left edge of screen turning whiteish

    - issues with usb-c ssd connections

    https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=80576

Thinking of picking one up after seeing some of the films from this thing (looks great!) but don't want to get the first batch if they're having lots of problems.  I'm not in the US so returning the camera to get it fixed is going to be a pain.

I thought m43 was dead.  Not yet!

I used mine with samsung t5 for the entire weekend and a product shoot today and not one issue. I'm totally stoked on this camera. I'll be posting some shots this weekend once I can catch up with work.

BM customer service was very good when I sent it in to replace the battery door. sent it on Thursday and received it back on Saturday.

I've heard they are just shipping replacement doors to people who have the loose ones so you don't need to ship your camera in anymore and they're easy to take off. Looking at the mechanism of mine, I'm pretty impressed with how easy they are to remove.

A little concerning when a camera breaks down like that. But it happens with every manufacturer. You gotta have a backup if using one for anything critical but honestly I would think that has always been the case for professional work.

When I was shooting work for a client with an FS7 I always had a backup cam, just in case. Anything can happen at any time. Always be prepared.

Was it really worse? I mean the Iphone was producing more accurate color.

If Black Magic or anyone for that matter would have addressed this with the original pocket, you wouldn’t have seen brown footage for the first year and half.

It was worse, but one cannot compare the iPhone to a BM. That is ridiculous.  Phones are getting better, but c'mon. My IR filter sits on my lens without a hassle. It isn't a big deal. People are just searching for things to complain about.

I received my P4k a few days ago. To me, reminds me of Ursa Mini, but you've all heard that already. Can't wait to have more time to shoot with it. Stuck in edit mode right now.

What blacks? They look brown to me. ?

Interesting that people have claimed the IR pollution is gone. You can see it right there, clear as day. Has anyone else tested this?

Luckily most of us buying this cam already owned the OG pocket, which was much worse with IR pollution so we can solve it easily.
