Well said. I can understand Jeremy thinking about leaving with the BBC acting the way they do. Political correctness kills creativity and also intrudes into essentially private spats.
Don't agree with the UKIP comment (it contradicts the not freedom from offense argument) but everything else you're right on.

I'm very, very interested in this 2x anamorphic adapter for use with my GH4. Now, if only the GH4 could record in 24p when in 4:3 4K Photo mode...
Would the SLR Magic 25mm f/0.95 be a good match for the Anamorphot?

Call me crazy, but the only firmware update that I really need or want is the ability to use focus magnification while recording. IMHO it's the final frontier of usability for the GH4.

So what's your point Matt, is it that 36000fps is useless?
 
I can tell you it isn't. In science it has tons of applications. And it isn't "inert" if you have an exploding missile shell in front of the lens.
 
It will capture motion so fast that it would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye.
 
That's why I think the sensor has two markets. Cinema at 6k, 240fps, 20 stop DR and the scientific market in a high speed camera. And who knows the 1" sensor might even enable clear low light pictures on a smartphone one day.
 
Good job Sony is pushing the boundaries, because Canon are not.

It probably won't be outside of a scientific device but I expect Sony will sell this sensor to the science market as well. Anyway, the number is just a measurement. The take-away is that its a damned fast sensor. Let's not get caught up in the exact figures. 240fps in 6K is much more usable and a sensor this fast can do that....great.
 
Also it might be that at the very high speed modes, they are black and white & designed for science. It is the active pixel color sampling modes that are of most interest to me.

They are pushing the boundaries of what's possible creatively with this sensor. Look beyond the specs, impressive though they are, to what they will enable.
 
Completely agree with Rich... its going to be wild.

Panasonic understand indie filmmaking better than any other manufacturer and with this, they're showing some real cinema DNA in their products. Great gift for us and can't wait to see what happens next.

With the success of the the GH4 all over the world as Panasonic says especially in Europe can y'all imagine how good the next GH camera will be. Good job Panasonic for at least listening to consumers and trying to give us what we want. 

Wow, Panasonic really wants my money!!! It's so positive not only from a features/price ratio, but from the fact that they are finally listening what people wants!!!!!!!  :P  :lol:  :D  ;)
 
I had the LX100 in my radar, but this could change everything!!!

Thank you for a real interview. Most interviews I read are from sites afraid to ask the hard questions and they look more like cheerleaders working with the marketing department. I enjoyed the respectful push to get important questions answered.

I know that you said color reproduction wasn't exactly 100% accurate, but just the fact that the UHD color gamut is Rec.2020 instead of crappy Rec.709 is a major improvement...

That footage is really quite impressive.

I don't need to download any 4K files to know that this thing is going to start floating around on quite a few 3-axis gimbals and multi-rotor copters ;-)

I'm going to say Canon Electronic. Say what you will about Canon's cameras, but their lenses are very good, and widely available. If you do paid gigs it's certainly the Canon, their lenses are widely available to rent all over the place, not to mention CP and ZE Zeiss lenses. IF you end up in a pickle, you can call rental houses and find an EF mount lens last minute, no problem.

Wait a minute... To be able to record 25p or 30p in 10bit 4:2:2, it has to be interlaced??? Did I hear that right? If so, that majorly sucks!
