  1. Have you tested it on the X-H2 in your hands, Andrew?
  2. Not in my shopping list but lovely one anyway: cinemaglass.com, distributor of GL Optics in LA.
  3. If you need AF, no new codecs will give you the trick. Bring unusuable shots to life instead, yes. As well on the other hand, a faster readout will, with an improved rolling shutter. No need to compare apples to oranges either, a hybrid can be a motion picture camera but not much the opposite.

Yes, but not before. I tried to submit the order on Amazon France as matter of fact and some bug didn't allow me to complete the purchase. When I tried later on, the price had been changed... This doesn't make any sense especially when Black Friday is coming in three days in the end of the week, not in the beginning of the week, the Monday before. I still want to believe Monday is the first working day of the week, not Friday! Without mention, they didn't even let me comply the payment before a new price (extra EUR 200) had been placed. This is not aggressive marketing (now they say they only have 15 units in stock on Amazon France page), this is purely misleading to the customers, go figure loyal ones as myself for 36 years now!
  5. *Obviously a camera is not only its AF capabilities, no crop 4K 120fps (against the X-H2s 1.29x and FX30 1.38x crops) makes GH6 to be unique and X-H2s surely trumps as hybrid the FX30 without mechanical shutter is not -- let alone the rolling shutter performance, but when we have a few of capture devices already, we need something to justify a new all round motion picture camera purchase, isn't it? ; )
  6. I don't know guys... but this Sony entry looks like to me the most all round unbeatable cam under $2000 as of now against the usual direct contenders GH6 (sample) & my fav X-H2s (sample) to even lack a basic focus tracking feature in 2022 despite their (other) strengths we all already know: Obviously a camera is not only its AF capabilities (no crop 4K 120fps against the X-H2s 1.29x and FX30 1.38x crops) makes GH6 to be unique and X-H2s surely trumps as hybrid the FX30 without mechanical shutter is not, let alone the rolling shutter performance) but when we have a few of capture devices already, we need something to justify a new all round camera purchase, isn't it? ; )
  7. Thanks! I've also found this sample here:

    Fuji X-H2S

Well, yes, there is the fan indeed but people on YT mention it. Didn't you buy the camera?

What about overheating issues on XH2S?

PS: Panny fanboy here but no less of other brands as well, only from Canon besides the 5DII I still keep with care, let's not forget the pearl Canon M I yet hold four units. To be brand agnostic is a requirement of any filmmaker who loves this craft (EAG :- )

Tempting... I am producing a feature film in France right now but wouldn't like to mix the things up. They look like to request a French bank for the rebate though. Can you recommend anyone accepting nonresidents in order to open a local bank account? I'd eventually buy a couple of units only because of this tip of yours now, go figure and ask your commission check from them! : D I guess poor AF performance is taking them to have more units in stock than they should, hence this. Good for us, the GH series is a hell of a tool and will always be no matter what. BTW, my fav capture device before P4K and even earning the podium to 5DII I left ten years ago when my three GH1 units arrived and still hold with me even today, despite to couple with more 4x G7 and the GX85 (and a FTZ1000 I bought used, oh well, practically new!).
  12. To those born in the meantime or so : ) sorry nostalgic people like me but here's a sample found online (and definitely ignore that gigantic odd watermark) : More info: vintage pdf : D Sony's museum (the 'Mark II' : ) 3:1:1 8-bit tape. All 'began' there.
  13. Yet on 4K 120fps feature and those who need it, this is also not the best we're looking for in one way or another: Obviously that crop doesn't help either when ISO 2500 is not enough to prevent annoying noise (such as this sample HERE) when under pressure of a higher frame rate. The price especially in U.S. is very tempting though under those about 1,750 bucks @ the currency conversion of today, go figure if the ECB will increase the interest rates and we'll be back to USD 1.15, it will be difficult 'to invent' excuses... : D In a couple of decades we came from the $100,000 mark for the F900 to the USD 1,750 FX30... not bad ;- )
  14. Thanks for your tests, mate, the fact you're using the same locations and shooting styles on both devices (FX30 and GoPro 11) is fairly helpful to realize how useful to buy each or only one of them may fit the bill. I'd tend to go to the XH2S route though, for sure not because of the glass, oh well, definitely not when E-mount has become the new (affordable) mount for all as MFT before but, it is impossible to ignore tests like these of those dudes: Rolling shutter tests are also very clear. Marginally superior AF doesn't handle the ticket per se. This time no complaints on skin tones anyway nor oversharpened nonsense, good job Sony :- )
  15. It is not about where but all about the perspective from ;- )
  16. A couple of shots here, ISO 6400 and 12800 respectively, the last one is @25p though:
  17. LOL You're not the only one wondering about, I see ; ) This is exactly what I'm talking about. Certain gaps are more important to fill up than everything else, no matter how crucial or critical they are : P
  18. Here's a FX30 in someone's else other sense ; ) But IMO this is not exactly proper of a camera technology forum, to each its own, I believe we need to focus on a specific perspective or focus and not willing to discuss general lapalissade stuff. This is all about the potentiality of a certain tool or its specs in the way they can affect our métier.
  19. My friend, indie shooting means when you're the most independent of external variables like budget, crew, production values, etc.. This tool gives you the most extent of this formula ; ) Will you be able to make it alone by yourself? Of course not, but the most you're able to get an outcome from there without needing extra resources the best : ) In this sense :- )
  20. I've watched it a few hours ago and recognized your name and said to myself, this EOSHD fellow is going to follow the same pieces of street videography gear as I am : D Kudos to your tests, pal, this is indie shooting at its best : ) I guess I won't help myself to end buying a couple of each them: 4K 120fps GoPro 11 and now this FX30 and the lowlight performance of this thing make it priceless for the price of everything, glass you can couple included, my MFT Sirui anamorphics set via adapter and so on :- ) Nice days to be a shooter! - EAG
  21. Love this thing. For the price it is, this is really something. Handheld, available light... Handy with all these feature specs, an automated cinema camera? WOW Give me one. :- )
  22. More than the assets, supply, loading or the kit you're using, i.e. the value, it is the ways the outcome is contained. It's all about that.
  23. Something that really pisses me off is this mania of repeating the same "solution" (?) ad nauseam when something is coming into their empty hands... Before it was the shallow DoF from 35mm adapters and HDSLR introduction... Slowmotion came later and so on. And on and on. Now it is the 10-bit banding-free skies from people who look like to have found for first time the acronym DR, the word latitude or whatever they call it cinematic. Oh well. Please do not repeat it or no new resource will produce anything. First definition of cinematic. Zoom out. Forget the story, sound design and talent of the shooter's sample. The camera. Also. Because to be cinematic is much beyond that. More than resources, the way they're managed. EAG :- )
