I have two to three decades of legal background in the media realm BTW aside (any/every) legal mantra in general and I am entitled to tell you this patent thing is not so complicated as it seems or as some side is invariably pulling their weight. Yes, that proprietary media policy was a mistake, I concur. I myself was involved in the middle of a controversy when my partners started to freak out because of that in the early days of their product range announcement. Blackmagic easily took the lead.

I am on Blackmagic playground nowadays anyway, no regrets ; ) RED is some distinct mark of their own though : ) What appeals to me in this new offer IMHO is to comprehend non-proprietary media this time as much as Blackmagic from day one to compare apples to apples. I don't think it is worthy to Blackmagic users in any way whatsoever. Blackmagic once, Aussies lover forever : -)
