In short, Mihail, there's no how to re-invent the wheel, isn't it? So here we enter in the true realm of BS... -

Posted there or described here: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-07-02/sponsor-turned-blind-eye-to-lance-armstrongs-doping/5564074 Life is not an easy place, that's the minimum we can say at least. In some other note, the State is the thief number one in person and no one seems to complain about... No puritan morals over (t)here : -) -

I understand your feeling, Andrew. In any case, RAW was in Jim's mind since very early 2006 when Graeme was hired. Jarred was only an observer back to those days, as it is possible to follow here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?42602-RED-and-Graeme-Nattress&highlight=raw -
Jinni Tech claims RED Compressed RAW patent filing is invalid

That is or was far to be a secret anyway. If so, it is property of Landmine so Jarred could have put that off to the distance of a click. I think it is useless to do it anyway. Once published hard to keep it unknown to not mention top secret ; -) -

I hadn't read this post of yours yet... Take a look: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?77032-RAW-vs-REDCODE-RAW Yes, REDCODE RAW was implemented very likely not exactly when announced IIRC but along 2006 as that link reveals and actually present since the early beginning also with the first camera units delivered as well when RED took reservations as mine (#111 and #647). I am obviously sure on that one : -) -
Mandatory and pretty irresistible IMO that one... : -)

The money going outside their balance sheets... ; -) -
OK, found it why... Let's help Luca to help us? Simply irresistible... Pledged. This will help Blackmagic to sell cameras!

You can always buy a FIAT in Europe, no need for a Ferrari... ; -)

My bad to have asked from you for some other suggestions to add here... LOL I think that should come a little bit earlier, isn't it? ; -)

Interesting research and read Ed indeed. I wonder where's Ari these days? He was very ironic and helpless about RED those days, I remember. I think that camera who Danny Boyle preferred to 35mm film to make Slumdog Millionaire going with the marvelous David Newman's Cineform codec today on GoPro side had deserved a much better fate à la Blackmagic nowadays anyways, I bet : ) On Alexander, very nice guy, but to be straightforward, they never took off other than for a very few domestic usage, though : -) -
You'll find similar policies anywhere. Take a look on the car industry, only as finest example... ; -)
-
Yes, that proprietary media policy was a mistake, I concur. I myself was involved in the middle of a controversy when my partners started to freak out because of that in the early days of their product range announcement. Blackmagic easily took the lead.
-
I firmly disagree : ) When did they change? Where's the difference between them and some other major brands? Let's not even mention SONY or CANON... RED always offers the best new technology as soon as possible at least : -)
-
Andrew, my friend, it can also be a bitch, though ; ) I'm sorry Jarred is not coming here to post and stop all this nonsensical hostility a bit everywhere outside reduser against this major player. What distinguishes them from some others like ARRI as for instance? I love that guy, no matter the most recent controversies he has immersed more lately. I don't believe he had changed away from the friendly tone he has always treated the friends he has made worldwide either on his dvxuser days or later through his RED adventure : ) I truly like him and am glad and proud for his camera industry achievements (E : -)

I am on Blackmagic playground nowadays anyway, no regrets ; ) RED is some distinct mark of their own though : ) What appeals to me in this new offer IMHO is to comprehend non-proprietary media this time as much as Blackmagic from day one to compare apples to apples. I don't think it is worthy to Blackmagic users in any way whatsoever. Blackmagic once, Aussies lover forever : -)
-
Why the link is down now? Don't forget lack of slow motion abilities on 4K either...
-
RED is still a major, let's don't underestimate anyone anywhere, it's just not too smart to deny it to be honest : -)

Don't want to jump the gun, the dude is just still sleeping for now! LOL : -)

In the cine world, people will tend to use the 180º shutter angle, 24fps -> 1/48th (DSLRs usually offer approximately 1/50th to begin with), 60fps -> 1/120th, etc. Hence the motion cadence. The different terminology won't change the fact there's no difference between shutter speed and shutter angle. Just two distinct ways to say the same as happens along the Blackmagic cameras, on P4K at least. It is nothing about motion blur rather than motion cadence on his post. The other user didn't hint that at all WTH *phew* He didn't suggest you could vary the angle to some slow shutter speed / 360º shutter angle to get that, more prone to pop up in the realm of still photography but possible to reach on video as well, obviously.
-
LOL Hilarious presumptuous "debate", they obviously mean the same... ; )
-
Reality will never overcome some representation of it. That's why it is called art. 24fps posed a standard, dictated as its intrinsic motion cadence. Other than that is not adding anything but just diminishing all that. Who doesn't understand this has no clue what's going on. E : -)

LOL : -)
