Anyways, I'll be glad to no longer consider 1DX3 as an option. That form facto, lack of IBIS & price was not something I was excited about after the initial hype wore off (I even skipped the local preview event yesterday!).
Exactly my thought. To be able to have some of the tech of the 1DXmkIII in one of those next bodies is good, because at least we have the choice now.
You're talking about the preview event in Paris? If so i was there, it was interesting, not a lot of people and i was able to have the body to really test it out. It's impressive, and to think maybe some of those features will be in one of the next mirrorless bodies is awesome. -

A lot of confusion it seems over these leaks. Looking at the rumoured info closer:
Scroll wheel added to the back
Liveview/Movie toggle like previous EOS DSLRs
New battery, but the same shape and compatibility as the EOS 5D Mark IV
..what if this new camera wasn't simply the 5D Mark V? (Code name EOS R5)
the R6 sounds more like an EOS R follow-up.
Those specs you mention are not confirmed CR3 as they're not in bold. But I think it's just that Canon moved what would be the Canon 5d MkV into a mirrorless pro body, and to make people waiting for a 5dMkIV follow up want to actually make the switch to mirrorless they put a lot on the table specs wise.

There are now also specs for a Canon R6 on CanonRumors:
These look a bit more realistic to me than those of the R5... 8K raw and 4K 120p in a Canon mirrorless body? Sounds too good to be true... Could that even work without a fan considering the S1H has one for 6K recording?
You posted it one minute before mine 😂
And yes it sounds more realistic. But maybe if we put aside the 8k and 4k120 specs, everything is real as the fps are the same on the two rumored bodies, maybe these really are the next two R bodies from Canon, each with its own capabilities, price point and usability. -
The Eos R6 rumors specfications is interesting too. It provides basic things in video ( 4k60p at last in a canon body other than the 1dx MkIII) but should be interesting nonetheless considering the probably lower price. It is rated CR2.5 so I assume that it's quite a solid information, just to be double checked.

By the way folks did you see the wild rumors that appeared on the internet concerning the next pro Canon mirrorless body that should be announced next month ?
https://www.canonrumors.com/canon-eos-r5-specifications/
The Canon rumor guy would rate it CR3 as he says in the intro just before the specs... I don't know how this all would be possibly true, especially coming from Canon, but it were true then that is insane!!

Thank you, that proves it for 10bit (C-LOG)
Now I think what is happening with the RAW mode is those claiming no AF had it in 60p.
Still would like to see proof of it working in 24p, 25p, 30p though.
Meanwhile, I am enjoying my 8K full frame sensor readout on the Leica SL2
So i tested the Canon 1dx mkIII today and i briefly put it in 4k RAW 25p to test if the dpaf would work. Short answer is it works like a charm. I didn't have lot of time to test other framerates and resolutions but I then asked a Canon rep about it and he said that it works in raw until 30p then it's not possible.
Note aside, the autofocus in video seems to be improved again, it's impressive. Rack focus is very natural, face/eye detection works near flawlessly... I'm very impressed.

Does he speak about it or actually SHOW it?
I cannot be bothered to watch many YouTube videos, can you watch it and report back 🤣
He actually tested the body so i think that he say it because he tested it... He shows a B-roll footage with focus tracking while he is saying that.
I will put my hands on this camera on Tuesday so i will try it out.
-
At about 2:00 he speaks about the capability of shooting dual pixel in all modes, including RAW, except when shooting in 50/60p.
Pretty clear to me.
-
Looking at the Canon documentation, it's pretty clear to me that it works in RAW except at 50/60p... I'll come back to tell you after I will test it on next tuesday.

I am pretty confident that the next Canon FF mirrorless bodies (at least the more video centric one) will give the Sony a7sIII/A7sIV a run for their money. As Andrew said, Canon stopped resting on their laurels and decided to go to fight again in 2020, and they know they have something unique with their RF mount. Fuji too will release a powerful camera with the xt-4, the early rumors are quite impressive, and the x-t3 is already an incredible little camera. I bet Sony is the new Canon.

To summarize : https://www.canonwatch.com/canon-eos-1d-x-mark-iii-announcement-next-week-price-and-all-the-important-specs/
Should be announced at CES (strange as it is a consumer show) and price should be 6499$ (if the rumor site is real). -
Hi guys !
Just a little post to share the entire specs list of the Canon 1dX MkIII that appeared on B&H (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1512601-REG/canon_eos_1d_x_mark_iii.html/DFF/d10-v21-t1-x995001/SID/EZ) and Adorama (https://www.adorama.com/ica1dxm3.html?utm_source=rflaid68073).
Some of the rumors that stated maybe 6k or internal stabilization were wrong, I think we should see it in their upcoming professional mirrorless body.
I saw this first here.I have to say, as it is right now, it seems like a powerful stills camera, and a very interesting video camera for me as i'm invested in EF lenses. I wanted the flexibility of 10 bits 422 recording as well as C-Log. Raw is interesting too but if it's the same as on the C200 it will be a real storage eater !!
What do you think of this soon to be announced camera?

I'd be lying if I said this looks anything less than great.
Yes to me this is the most cinematic piece we have so far shot on the S1H (though the sci fi short is not bad).

Would it be Prores RAW or other raw format?
No info yet. More to be revealed in 3 weeks at IBC. They didn't use the "Prores" word so maybe it's another Raw format.

I'd be glad to have a variable ND like the one in the FS5 and FS7 mkII or RAW or PRORES just like you ask so many times in your blogs for instance...
RAW is a reality : https://www.atomos.com/press-releases/atomos-panasonic-lumix

Prores Raw announced!! That was quick.
Not so cool for Z6 owners though as the upgrade is free here ?

OK this is without a doubt my next camera. I'm going to sell my A7III, keep my Ninja V and voilà!

I found this video quite interesting. Not a proper review, more of a user feedback :

other than the fs5 with an external recorder and the BM Ursa Mini G2. The Zcam e2 is the 3rd camera under $15,000 than can do 4k 120
The kinefinity Mavo can do it also I think ?

Its not funny. A Canon rep told there is a legitimate reason for no 24p. He said something about the way the sensor is read out. He said that Canon wants it to operate at a perfect temperature. It runs too cold at 24p, but is at an optimum temp at 30p. It was done for the benefit of the camera.
So they are the only brand that don't know how to properly regulate the sensor temperature, as all other brands offers 24p ?
