  1. Just looked at the price. Yikes!!! The LEICA S (Typ 007) makes the Hasselblads look cheap & they really are medium format although stills only. 4K is only available in Super 35 crop mode.
  2. Personally I think that it works less than brilliantly as you are stuck with the same shutter speed as you are using for video i.e. 1/50 or 1/60 which is going to end up with blurry images 50% of the time.
  3. It's £1289 from that same seller now. I can only assume that the £704.50 was a screw up on the part of Amazon. You should have bought at that price as you could always return it under the DSR if it only shot 5 minutes versus 29'59".
  4. Does anyone have an opinion on the Panasonic FZ1000 versus the RX10m2? In the UK at least the Panasonic is half the price. It has the same size sensor & the lens is an F2.8-4.0 25-400mm equivalent. It doesn't have the HFR but what other advantages does it have to justify the 2X price?
  5. It's £1289 on Amazon today. It's never been £1500. It's only £1199 at Wex. I live locally to their retail store so walked in & bought mine over the counter last week
  6. More likely is that Canon's market feedback & sales suggests that 95% of those enthusiasts purchasing a DSLR don't care two hoots about video as they are buying a camera to take still photographs.
  7. The problem is that you are using an unsupported hack to enable TRIM on 3rd party drives. In my testing having TRIM on or off on the Crucial M4 or M500 in my Mac pros made no difference so I didn't bother using TRIM Enabler & hence I had no problem upgrading to Yosemite & this is doubtless the same with the others posting here who are running Yosemite with 3rd party SSDs without problems. Here is the explanation of what's happened with TRIM Enabler from the author of the software http://www.cindori.org/trim-enabler-and-yosemite/
  8. Here in the UK only ProAV of all the BlackMagic dealers have updated the prices on their website but at £354 including VAT it is very tempting just to play with shooting RAW. http://www.proav.co.uk/blackmagic-design-pocket-cinema-camera
  9. Are we sure this is for real? Remember that this is the same James Miller who promulgated the nonsense that removing the OLPF of the Canon 5D3 improved the image. That piece of nonsense fooled quite a few people at the time before it was all revealed as the Emperor's New Clothes.
  10. 29.97fps vs 25fps is quite a big difference (around 20%) so theoretically it could mean the image quality is better at 25fps. It's a much bigger difference than 24fps vs 25fps where indeed the difference is negligible (around 4%)
  11. The 5-way IBIS on the OM-Ds is in a totally different league to IS built into lenses & far more effective.
  12. 50% of retail is a pretty decent price to get for anything on eBay unless it is very desirable &/or in short supply. Don't forget also that what you actually get in your pocket will be even less with eBay/PayPal fees & the cost of shipping. I have sold quite a lot of stuff on eBay recently & the loss that I have taken on some stuff is terrible but if it's the choice between an item for which I paid £250 sitting on the shelf & that I will never use it & clearing £50 for it then I would rather have the money.
  13. RAW video with ML on 7D or 5D2 is an incredible PITA it's up to you whether the effort involved is worth the trouble. There is supposed to be a Metabones smart Canon EF to MFT Speed Booster announced soon. That would make all the lenses that you have access to useable on the GH4.
  14. You seem to have forgotten about the C300 sensor that then trickled down into the C100. It gives outstanding quality, resolution & dynamic range at an affordable price. Six years ago when I started shooting professional video it was with a Canon XH-A1 that was then equivalent in price to what a C100 is today. The XH-A1 was a great camera but the C100 is better in so many ways & it's all down to Canon's innovation especially with the sensor.
  15. I sold about 20 all together mostly 32GB. Your Delkins should sell OK to those in the know as they are of similar quality to SanDisk & also approved for use in Canon XF & C300. I could have priced a bit higher but would then have had to wait longer to sell. Take a look at the prices that cards actually sell for in Completed Listings then price accordingly.
  16. I suppose that Nikon or Canon moving into medium format digital could be a logical step if they made something more affordable than the 50 megapixel Hasselblad. 18 megapixel might be 'good enough' but people are always going to want something bigger/faster/better than just 'good enough'. $15K+ for a medium format camera will be too rich for most but one at $5-7K could be a big seller to professionals & aspiring amateurs.
  17. The Zoom H4N is notorious for gobbling batteries whether using phantom power or not. You would be lucky to get a couple of hours use out if a set of new Duracells.
  18. I just sold a bunch of CF cards on eBay as we only have cameras that use SD cards now. I sold as Buy It Now with a Best Offer. I priced the cards at about 60% of retail & accepted 50% as an offer (I like this way of selling as some people will pay the asking price & those that like to offer & feel that they got a bargain can be happy too). The SanDisk cards sold within a day or two whereas the Transcends took about a week even though the asking price was 50% less for the same capacity & performance.
  19. What is classed as fair use of copyright material varies in different jurisdictions but generally extends to reporting news, parody or academic study. It does not involve taking somebody else's work & using it to enhance & improve yours.
  20. You have that wrong. The C100 is an incredibly popular camera used by thousands of working professionals. Admittedly it's not so popular with the cheapskate amateurs on this forum but that's only because they cannot afford one
  21. You need to compare at equivalent exposure. The filter shot looks better because the first shot is overexposed & blowing the highlights on the girl's forehead.
  22. It is possible at a pinch for a Steadicam operator to use a wired follow focus with a very lightweight wire running to the camera. However I have only heard of this being used with a proper setup with a vest & arm and the OP specifically mentioned a handheld stabiliser where one hand will always be supporting the stabiliser so this wheeze would be less convenient.
  23. Are you sure that you want a laptop? You pay a large premium for portability or conversely you get a lot more bang per buck if you spend the same money on a desktop system.
