  1. Might be for Plus members only. I was under the impression you had limited HD embeds as a standard member though.
  2. Why can't I have HD in embedded videos... https://vimeo.com/57319379
  3. A REAAAAAAL HUUUUUUUMAAAAAAN BEEEEEEEEEINGGGG
  4. Cool man. Nice to see others from Perth here.
  5. James Cameron's opinion is sitting pretty nicely in the negative for me, so it's not clear cut ;)
  6. Mark Kermode perfectly explains why I hate 3D. It's not that I think 3D is bad (I do), but that in certain places like where I live, 2D screenings of certain 3D movies become second rate or nonexistent.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HaPY_mAdok
  7. How long have you had the GH2? Does this happen in all modes? It looks like you might have gotten a defective unit.
  8. Have you read Andrews GH2 guide? There's a good list of lenses in there that isn't really GH2 specific. As said, check out the Samyang/Rokinon Cine lenses. The new SLR Magic stuff is great, but gets up there in price. Of course there's some great legacy FD lenses out there as well. I'd say find your budget and desired focal length then go from there.
  9. You can regain some of the old interface elements, but even if you could regain all of them it would still be a step backwards. The core problem with Windows 8 isn't the interface, as bad as metro is.
  10. 8 literally offers NOTHING of value over 7. It's more restrictive and controlling than ever, and it's only going to get worse with the growth of Microsofts first party online stores. If you value user options don't buy into Apple and Microsoft for everything. Look into Linux based stuff too.
  11. I was literally checking 10 minutes ago where I could see this in Australia. Hopefully it's up on their website!   Edit: Aww yeah. It's up on ABC iview for another 13 days. For residents of Australia only I believe.   http://www.abc.net.au/iview/#/search/side%20by%20side     Edit #2: Just finished watching. It's mostly an hour and a half of industry opinions on the subject, but very interesting opinions. Really gives me motivation to go out and shoot something. All in all, entertaining doco. Not much of it will surprise anyone already interested in the subject, but it's still fun to watch.
  12. I do use the histogram, but I like to have a visual reference too. Sometimes you don't want the image 'properly' exposed, if you know what I mean.
  13. My big problem with using a viewfinder on the GH2 is having to use the LCD. I guess it's okay for focusing, but I really want something to judge exposure. I need an olld eyepiece like Axel.
  14. Can't say much about FCP, haven't used it, but I've used a lot of Vegas, Avid and Premiere. By far Premiere Pro CS6 is my favorite NLE. It's powerful and intuitive. The best of Vegas and Avid combined.
  15. Are you the guy who made the thread on /p/ about getting the GH3 a week or two ago?
  16. It's a bit laughable for someone like a hobbyist to call themselves a Cinematographer, but not necessarily untrue. Whats bothersome is when people call themselves a DoP. Becoming a DoP takes years of experience on a professional level to achieve and shouldn't be devalued by people who shoot their cats with a DSLR.
  17. Windows [7] is perfectly capable of editing raw. Your hardware is what matters. Unfortunately I don't know too much about laptops.
  18. Have you read the GH2 guide? I'd say most of it carries across to the GH3.
  19. There's a lot of good stuff on Vimeos Video School. vimeo.com/videoschool   Other than that just mess around with the thing. Experiment. Read lots online. Use forums like this.
  20. Now I feel terrible for not going to see Argo when it was playing...
  21. I've been using cheap Transcend 32gig cards with Flowmotion 2.02 for months now with no write problems. I actually got more errors with the EOSHD 44 hack.
