My thoughts on the Canon EOS R5 8K monstrosity - 1TB footage per 50 minutes
ntblowz replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
guess the only way will be using something like Shure VP83F that have build in recording function or zoom h1 to record audio separately and match in post -
So from that dslr video shooter video, the Slog look much more nicer than slog2 on modern Sony? WTF?

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1434115-REG/canon_3444c001_drop_in_clear_filter_a.html Seriously just a cover will do, dont need clear filter in the rear.. wonder if 3rd party gonna make one?

Canon EOS R5 has serious overheating issues – in both 4K and 8K
ntblowz replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
From that video R5's full metal body give it slightly better cooling than R6 it seems. -
No body knows at this stage, that could be a big bummer if it is still at cdaf 12MP means apsc shooting in HD only too, that is quite a big bummer as i sometimes use apsc crop mode too (on eos r just use 4k) for the reach If it have pdaf then it will have missing pixels, but because the resolution is too low (every pixel is needed), it will be harder to mask it unlike the higher pixel model sensor The Canon's dpaf will actually be the perfect solution for low res sensor, as all the dp is image pixel too. 12MP means apsc 4k will be upscaled

Sounds like the Blackmagic Pocket 4K/6K could accommodate it? Too bad BM waste all that camera space with such a wide body.

na to 15MP, too low res for hybrid and 2, no HDMI recorder support 4K120p.. so that part might be B$ I remember it need SDI for 4K120P as FS5 have done. -
still no active cooling means overheating can still be possible. Guess only Panasonic can record unlimited 4K60P atm with an actual fan.

A request - help find the EOS R5 / R6 "4K oversampling on/off" menu option
ntblowz replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
From C5D So there is 4K HQ mode and normal 4K mode (pixel binning?) on the R5 R6 just oversampling from 5.1K so should be alright? -
VND adapter is virtually glued to my EOR R, too bad the clear one cost the same as an actual mount adapter, that is really dumb

More info on r5 The new battery can record 1hr 20min of 8K RAW Video 4K 30p is supersampled from 8.2K/7.7K (DCI/UHD) FF, that gonna be the sharpest 4K ever! 4k 60P is supersampled from 5.1K in DCI and 4.8k in UHD on APS-C Crop, guess in FF 4K60P it use pixel binning? 30min record limit. support power feed over USB-C for continuous operation R6: 4K60P supersampled 5.1K in FF. improved 1DX III sensor, AF performance same as R5 Both record 4:2:2 10bit internally So in 4K30P R5 will have way sharper image than R6, while in 4K60P FF mode R6 will have much better image quality. -

most likely 1:5 as they used on c200/1dx3 Sony will never have internal compressed RAW as they lost the case against RED ages ago. -
