Very big difference in price! The GH2 has a marvellous codec with the hack and insane detail. Only splurge on the 5D Mark III if you really need the large full frame sensor, timecode, and *possibly* a very superior image especially in low light. I'd also wait for the proper sample videos and reviews before making a decision. GH2 is so cheap. Why not get both if you can afford the 5D Mark III? Not much more of a stretch over the top.

It is a bit of a shame. But it is probably the best compact ever made for low light and stills. Mine has just arrived, so expect review of video mode soon.

Often it could be a small feature that sways it for your individual needs so it is never right to say that one camera is ‘better’ for ‘everyone’. It isn’t as cut and dry. However it is possible to be objective about image quality. I’d say the 5D Mark III definitely has the better internal codec and resolution. How about ISO 12,800 that looks like ISO 3200 on previous camera? It is next gen in terms of stills quality.

That harsh sharpening is exactly what the AA filter fixes, amongst other things.

A power house of image quality with a massive sensor, Hollywood film sequences and entire episodes of prime time network TV have been shot on it purely for the way it looks. Also expecting new Rebel / 650D around this time, which could be a real bargain.

No Thunderbolt. To be honest however, I am pretty happy with the audio monitoring port, and all I want now is for the video image out of this camera to be STUNNING. That is what really matters. Rest of it can be as unimaginative and conservative as they like...
