Writ large with the phrases "FULL HD" and "SELFIE" the bundles come with one of Rode's cheapest mics and a 32GB SD card. The standard kit zoom (18-55mm) is provided as normal. The year 2001 was really a pre-digital era as far as the mass market was concerned, as affordable DSLRs didn't really exist until 2005 with the Canon 300D. 2012 was something of a peak because it was just before the mass market decided their phone was 'good enough' Good enough aside from the zoom which is why crap like the G3 X exists!! The DSLR is heading back to base. At the base are waiting a lot of enthusiasts pissed off at Canon for ignoring them. Most of them are moving to Sony. When Canon and Nikon lose their footing in the consumer market, we won't be there to patch things up.

Yes, well, film sets are one thing... but I at EOSHD always had an eye on the enthusiasts and consumers more than with the established film industry. The GH2 was for a long time the only camera we cared about! Cheap! Great image! Sure the C100/C300 strategy could be seen as "smart". But it is a totally separate strategy to what we're really in need of, which is for Canon to start playing the game again in that very significantly sized DSLR/mirrorless video market. If only idiots would stop buying over priced and under specced Rebels and get a clue, Canon would react and improve the breed I am sure.

​Yes will do that but there's really no comparison, the 120p from the Sonys is in a different league.

Market research from 2014 has surfaced from consulting firm FutureSource. The year-old report suggests a swing of 50% from DSLRs to mirrorless cameras in 2015 (for pro video users). The report predicts that in the coming years 4K mirrorless cameras will dominate the market for video relative to DSLRs and that sales of large sensor professional camcorders (such as the Canon C300) will continue to grow and occupy roughly a third of the pro video market with the mirrorless camera share at a respectable 20%. ​That is a totally different mount.

C-mount and M43 don't go to Samsung NX mount.

I bet it has S-LOG 3 and 4K 60fps. Minus some of the other drawbacks of the A7R II... less rolling shutter, better in low light, crisper full frame 4K. But the Super 35mm APS-C crop mode likely will be worse!

Really we should be comparing the GX8 with the £1100+ stuff anyway.

​But it doesn't beat a £470 Sony A6000 for stills and therein lies the problem, if it's clearly aimed at photographers. Anyway the £599 Samsung NX500 arguably performs better in 4K mode than the GX8. 2.2x crop on the Samsung, looks like a 2.5x crop on the GX8 from a noisier sensor with suspect colour.

The 1D C has a better image and that is 1/4th the price used so may as well pick that up instead if you want a Canon.

Panasonic are in danger of being overtaken by competitors taking away their unique selling points. If the next Olympus OM-D E-M camera gets 4K as it likely will and with their market leading IBIS system, then the GH5 is going to have to do something pretty damned special (like go Super 35mm and ProRes) to make me want to use it over the E-M2. I'll give you another example... The GH2 used to have a big video quality advantage over Canon, Nikon and Sony DSLRs. It is why I bought it. Can anyone seriously with a straight face say that is the case now with the GH4 vs A7R II?

I just tried it and it's nice. Like a streamlined Premiere Pro. No 4K timeline support though on the Express version. Maybe the 300 euro Pro version has it. Also couldn't find a way to apply a LUT.

​At ISO 6400 the Mk IV clearly has less blue noise and blacker blacks, probably because the sensor's backside circuit generates less heat and there's a cleaner pathway between the sensor and image processor. But yes the Mk I does look a tiny bit sharper. Won't notice the difference in real life though. I'd rather have the faster readout and 4K than 5% improvement in stills performance.

Will be interesting to see what the new 20MP sensor is like and if it does 4K from the full recording area and not a 2.3x crop I also wonder if it will have V-LOG! If so then looks good.

​Yes continuously but not tried long runs 10min + yet. Might have the 29 min cap of the standard 1080p mode or it might be less. Never heard of a continuous slow-mo take that long though!

​That shot was pre-graded though and compressed for the web. I crushed the shadows 2 stops and baked that crush into the file. Wait till you see the original S-LOG.

I'd suggest it is a bit of a stretch to compare the XC10's footage to other Cinema EOS cameras that shoot 4K like the 1D C I champion and the now available C300 Mk II... Just because it has a Cinema EOS badge on it doesn't mean it is going to match up in post to the 1D C. And certainly doesn't mean it will have a better image than the RX10 II... Well, we will find out... today. Just bought a RX10 II.
