Could it be that your display ruins the motion candace of the camera rather than it being a GH4 issue? Clearly CCD and global shutter help. But the display has a lot to do with it. For example if you leave your Mac or PC to scale the 4K to fit a QHD or 1080p monitor, that's going to introduce detail fatigue for your eyes and chance motion cadence.

+1 for the Digital Bolex motion cadence. Even slowed down to 18fps like an old film camera, you can tell it is different to the CMOS sensors. And I have absolutely no idea why

Jonesy have fixed the storage space bug, you will now be able to upload images.

Yes I think it's an excellent policy! There are enough idiots who read the blog already, don't want to attract any more idiots! Enough idiots! My policy is no idiots! If you don't agree, you're an idiot!

Canon XC10 "lens slides out" when used on drone
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Rather more like the Blackmagic is heavy for the size. Like a block of lead! But then, it isn't a plastic toy like the XC10. Thankfully. -
My understanding is it dumps a series of frames at 24p to the card from the live view buffer. How many? How long for? No idea. But in the english language a series of frames = video as far as I'm concerned.
-
I can assure you it is not. They have indeed enabled raw video. At what frame rate and at what maximum resolution for continuous recording has yet to be determined. What sort of headline would have satisfied you sir? "Nikon Hacker Enables Raw Video And Further Development Needed To Determine Final Usable Form It Takes Along With Resolution And Frame Rate And File Sizes And Whether It Will Arrive On the Nikon D750 Or The Soon To Be Rumoured D900 Please Wait To Find Out More" Is that specific enough for you? Headline writing lesson for Araucaria. A headline such as that above isn't a headline. It's a sentence. The purpose of a headline is to grab attention with as few words as possible. For example: Forum User Is Negative Wanker That's a brillaint headline.

Says who? Let's hear more from the devs first before you write it off.

Developer "leegong" of Nikon Hacker has made enormous progress in getting raw video from the live view function of the Nikon D5100. Early builds of the patch output raw frames to the card and A1ex of Magic Lantern has written a prototype / test DNG converter. Read the full article

Yes set to 16-235. Then get EditReady to transcode, it's by far the best.

Canon XC10 "lens slides out" when used on drone
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Let's get this straight. I think I speak for many when I say this... I'm not putting up a selfish analysis of Canon's woes. They really are failing to provide something innovative. That's the objective truth. We have been waiting forever for a innovative DSLR from Canon that does good video (without the pure good fortune of Magic Lantern and raw). Instead we got the XC10, the small chip camcorder we have to sellotape up so it works with the kind of equipment Canon is touting it for.... the small chip camcorder priced $2500 yet lacking a constant aperture on the lens... the clinical small chip camcorder in a world of more artistic interchangeable lens cameras... the small chip camcorder Canon think is a GH4 competitor when it is anything but... -
As the megapixel race continues, there's something the average consumer doesn't realise. Most of them are walking around with 6MP lenses on their 24MP DSLRs. Read the full article

Canon XC10 "lens slides out" when used on drone
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
No need to wait. Buy your camera operator a Ronin and throw them out of a helicopter. -
S for sensitivity, R for resolution. There's no V for video. It floats around the range to whatever suits. Nothing to stop the A7R having 4K in future.

Canon XC10 "lens slides out" when used on drone
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
So does the zoom not flop out or does it?! You can't keep the truth from these pages as easily as you can some of the other bum licking parts of the internet -
Damn it we need 80MP now!!

Canon XC10 "lens slides out" when used on drone
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Jimmy the fan boy speaks again. It's not a prototype, it's a pre-production. Tiny little tweaks for mass production and it's done. If the non-prototype has a lock on the lens and doesn't need taping up for your drone, give us a call! -
Feast your eyes on this 9K image from Zeiss. Sony Alpha Rumors makes a good case for it being from the updated A7R II. I'd say it has a good chance of being real and here's why... Read the full article

Canon XC10 "lens slides out" when used on drone
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
You're both missing the point big time. It's $2500 and they couldn't put a lock switch on the zoom. -
Numerous times Canon have touted the XC10 as a perfect drone camera. Let's see if they are right. Read the full article

Fast & Furious is now an Avengers type superhero film
Andrew Reid replied to mtheory's topic in Cameras
No! Really? Talk about stating the obvious. I believe mtheory's point is valid... Hollywood has run out of grounded stories to tell, so is not clutching at straws... throwing in the hero junk and the super power shit and hoping it sticks. -
Very good... ISO 6400 definitely clean and usable. 12,800 not too bad!

1000 euro could buy you a second hand 5D Mark II. Pop Magic Lantern on it for raw and you have the best low light camera but it might not be the workflow you're used to, therefore the Nikon D5300 is a solid bet or the upcoming D5500. Also consider 70D with raw. It's pretty handy up to ISO 3200 and you can keep your Canon lens.
