I think that's greatly oversimplifying things. The sensor in the GH4 is larger and the stills are better. The codec records to cheaper media with 3x smaller file sizes. The XC10 is 4:2:2 internal I believe? Canon LOG is welcome. I expect the Panasonic FZ1000 will give very close results for $799 with a better lens so the XC10 is a no-buy for me.

Canon's "new" codec is just H.264. I am sure they are working on H.265 support but since the hardware to support it isn't really common yet, I can see why they're taking their time over it. In the meantime, EditReady is your friend.

So what if it edges out the RX10? That concept is 2 years old and sells for less than $1000. This is supposed to be a cutting edge 2015 Cinema EOS camera for $2500!

4K at 60fps would be tricky to edit I think. Needs a LOT more horsepower.

Wow that promo video is going to take some beating for wooden model movements. She behaves like a cyborg. The dirt under my fingernails contains more life than is present in that video. The yellow-tinted clipped highlights are similar to what I get on the FZ1000 for $700. You'd think for $2500 they would have sorted that out. This camera tarnishes the Cinema EOS brand.

It is likely whatever low light advantage the sensor has, that is cancelled out by the F2.8-F5.6 zoom. Just get an LX100 or stick a zoom on a GH4.

May as well stick the 14-140mm on the GH4. But nobody does that because it looks video-ish. GH4 will get LOG soon I expect so that makes the XC10 even less desirable vs the Panasonic.

Nice but shame about the tiny sensor and boring lens. A Super 35mm interchangeable lens version of this would kill the GH4. Double the price of the FS7 for the same specs but no 4K 60fps, no 180fps. It does however have a lot of positives. No need for lens adapters, just use your EF stuff. Dual pixel AF can be handy for run & gun. Much stronger ND filter than FS7.

GH4 was in UHD at 25p.

It's NOT REAL guys!! Do you really think Canon would put out such low-grade looking crap? And the camera body is obviously Photoshopped. Look at how the body around the X at the front has been stretched downwards to make it larger. Look how the perspective is warped on the antenna connector at the back and the C700 logo looks like it was done in Photoshop... by a child... off his head on vodka!!

Yeah it's been a long wait. Funnily enough the main feature I am looking forward to is VLOG. With A7S having SLOG and so many lovely LUTs out there I want to apply them to the GH4 footage so need LOG. Maintains small file sizes compared to raw which is very nice.

I think they are just timing it for NAB Simon. Not long to wait now, let's see in 7 days...

The Canon sensors are so noisy. Can't be pushed as far. How much of a practical difference it makes to real photography though.... I'm not sure. Who under exposes by 6ev by mistake on every shot!?

Yeah good straight out of the camera that's for sure. But Fuji X-T1 film modes are even better so Canon still can learn something about character!

We synced this in Premiere by moving the master track by audio-time code for precision less than a frame, whilst syncing the video clips based on the waveforms from the inbuilt mics. It worked and wasn't too time consuming. So how does FCPX do it automatically and is it straight forward & reliable or do you end up fiddling with it afterwards to fix it?

LX100 has proper 4K. There are no excuses for Nikon. You either want sales, or you don't. Appears they don't.

Yeah, I judge by images as well funnily enough! And C300 is nowhere near an Alexa!! It isn't better than an FS7. It isn't better than the 1D C. It isn't more cinematic than the Dragon. It isn't better than an F55 or F65 either. It's not in same league as the Varicam S35. You have mushy detail by comparison to ALL those cameras and less dynamic range as well as less colour information to grade from.
