  1. Past hour
  2. Sorry I meant this crop of cameras not ursa lol
  3. And the point is not the image we mostly prefer but the one we can have for ; ) Circumstances are more than half camera :- )
  4. For me, the "only one camera" answer would be GFX 100 II. But thankfully, I don't need to answer the "only one" question. 😅
  5. Today
  6. Ursa Mini Pro 12K, even though I am an usual suspect ; ) 'cause I love anything coming from this camera manufacturer... :- )
  7. I always wondered if this film was a ploy by the energy industry to keep legacy fuel sources economically viable and knock fission out of the market. Hard to think about those things with my tinfoil hat on, but I do try.
  8. Along the line of thinking “camera with you” of those 3 , which image do you prefer the most ?
  9. Yesterday
  10. To those, wondering why 12K serves... seems not too far of other ones, after all! LOL :- )

    Nikon buys Red?

Great deal for Nikon IMHO... I would have estimated up to five times more TBH here but what do I know? :- )
  12. Last week
  13. It would be great for them to release a FF the size of the Sigma FP with a fixed lens or a DSLM and a small 28mm f/2.8 pancake. I'm not sure what this means for M43 if they start focussing on small cameras in L-mount. I suppose they'll make more money in l-mount as they convert people back to Panasonic or "upgrade" M43 users to FF. There's probably not enough money in small, affordable M43 cameras with lenses that already exist everywhere.
  14. I read some rumours it would have a fixed lens. Who knows, but if so it might enable them to optimise the lens in a way you can't do with an interchangeable mount. I also read it would be full frame. If so, the lens would be the big question. Maybe they'll release a new lens at the same time that is compact and a better compromise for these mercurial content creators.
  15. L mount rumors is reporting a new "content creators camera" on May 23 at a Lumix announcement. It's supposed to have some unique features. I'm going to guess it's an electronic variable ND. The camera doesn't have an EVF and is similar in size to the FP. Sounds good, but there aren't any Panasonic lenses that would be good for that form factor. We'll see.
  16. US$85M is a pittance for Nikon. Clearly RED sold their patents and IP to Nikon and little more. No further proof needed that Nikon will integrate RED's tech into their own cameras and Z mount and slowly let current RED owners rot. They have zero incentive to produce a new RED camera with any other mount than their Z flavor, if any. Let ARRI dominate the cinema world and open up that crunchy RED codec to tiny video producers everywhere at an affordable price.
  17. Large format printing work... from video? ; ) Needs vary accordingly different users and purposes for sure.
  18. I definitely always keep the originals, but it depends on what work you're doing and what you export. If you really want to reduce the amount of storage your footage takes up, one way is to use the (excellent) Media Management tool and use the Copy Only Used Media Files option to create a backup of only the files that you actually used in the project. If your source files are large RAW files then you could transcode them to a Prores file as a lower resolution source and delete the RAW files. Or you could even export a Prores HQ copy of your completed timeline to have a high quality copy of it, rather than an 8-bit h264/5 export only. Of course, all these things take time, and if time is money to you then it might just be easier to buy more hard drives!
  19. What a waste of space, I mean I have a Z9, I always use 4k mode and zero sharpening because it is already too detailed. Once I had the misfortune of using the 4k from 8k output on older people, that thing was so hard to blur the skin as it was so detailed. What is the use of using such resolution then to put all types softening filters.
  20. This video outlines what to expect from those new M4 chips. Yes, the new iPad has the fastest single core production chip. I'm fairly certain the new M4 high-end macs will handle multiple simultaneous streams of 12k. I'd go for that.
  21. Yes, it is a bargain for what it is. I mean it seems RED was not doing that well, but for a bigger player, it is a small sum for a big return. I mean Nikon goes from a nobody in the video world, to one of the cameras used in the Cinema industry. They also get some quite unique tech, like the global sensor tech, a codec/color science widely use in high-end cinema industry. And a way to enter the Cinema lens market. The likes of Canon must be biting their lips, it is so cheap that only securing the mount would have been worth it.
  22. I wouldn't buy a Mac right now. I'd wait until after June if possible. I think there will be new M4 macs, most likely a new Mac Studio, Mini, MacBook Pro, and maybe a new iMac. Or, if you do get the "older" model, get it at a reduced price.
  23. Absolutely. I'm exclusively a MBP user because of portability requirements, but as my 2020 Intel-based MBP is able to edit the files I have, lately I've been investing in extras that live outside the MBP and therefore don't need to get re-purchased every time I upgrade.
  24. The price is revealed. $85 million.
  25. The only way to upgrade the GPU on a MBP is to buy a new MBP for another $4k. Not the best plan unless you're independently wealthy - and if so, then you might as well just spend the extra $300 for the better chip now. 😃
  26. Apparently the 50GPU is going to being far more drastic improvements. Maybe you could make do with a 30GPU and then directly move to the 50GPU when it releases later this'll year.
  27. BM has sample files for download. They're on these pages under the "Generation 5 Color Science" heading (different files are available for download on each page): https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicursacine https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicursaminipro
