Buy the SLR Magic NEX 28mm F2.8 I recently got 3 SLR Magic lenses to try out. These are creative lenses designed to replicate the look of Lomo or Holga cameras but on DSLRs. Philip Bloom has used the 26mm F1.4 on the Turin Breaks music video and now new models are coming out from Hong Kong based SLR Magic.
Right now a lot of DSLR reviews mislead on high ISO noise. For example most recent Nikon D5100 reviews have a range of cropped colour chart samples shot under bright studio lights at different ISOs. Surprise, ISO 3200 looks great. In real life it doesn’t!
Sony have announced the specs, release date and price of their first interchangable lens consumer camcorder. Retailing in September at $2000 (including 18-200mm kit lens worth $800), the Sony VG10 is an interchangeable lens mount camcorder, available to pre-order today. “Targeting video enthusiasts and photographers, the NEX-VG10E opens up unprecedented artistic possibilities not achievable with conventional consumer video cameras.”
UPDATE: The rumours were right! Now expect the NEX7 for September’s Photokina. Sony’s much anticipated mirrorless HDSLR is released in a few days. What do we know? It will be available in Hong Kong and Japan from May 11th and a limited stock global release that same day. Whilst an attempt at a global release is good, unfortunately 24p is missing from the spec sheet. Stop reading now?
