Panasonic are in talks with Epson to provide cutting edge new display technology for the EVF in the GH3. The news comes from a recent interview with Panasonic’s Ichiro Kitao at the launch of the GF3. It was a change of tone from last year when Panasonic spoke of the GH2 as a niche camera. Now they say, it is a ‘flagship’ and ‘very important’.
The Canon 1DS MkIII looks to have been discontinued as Canon prepare to usher in the first step-change in DSLR video, with the 1DS Mark IV.

Next month sees the possible unveiling of the 600D.
According to reliable rumours circulating, it’s going to be a very minor update with the same sensor as the 550D but the articulated screen of the 60D and a re-designed badge(!)
UPDATE – will Sony keep the box form factor? They have done it before with the Sony HDC-P1.
Sony have announced a $7k AVCHD camera with 24p and 35mm sensor. Aimed squarely at the AF100 and Red Scarlet, the boxy looking prototype gives little a way right now but I’m gathering more info as the story unfolds.

Full HD is 30p for NTSC, 25p for PAL. 17Mbit AVCHD in full HD mode. No 720/60p, just 720p/30p.
