Camera provided by Kinefinity and HDVideoShop. Final hardware but pre-release firmware with some modes such as “Golden 3K” for 16-stop dynamic range not yet enabled.

The Kinefinity KineMAX is a serious piece of kit. It is possibly the best image I have ever shot with.

The 6K Super 35mm sensor delivers an absolutely incredible raw image, internally recorded and also a CineForm Proxy for quick editing.

KineMAX 6K specs and raw footage

 

The KineMAX 6K cinema camera is nearing a release and I might have my hands on a prototype soon here in Berlin (I happen to be down the road from my friends at HDVideoShop who are the official European dealer). This is a significantly higher spec cinema camera on paper than anything else under the price of a Red Dragon for now.

Kinefinity have just released the first 6K footage from the camera and even some original material direct from the SSD card is available, for grading trials.

6K KIneMax resolution Kinefinity KineMAX

The KineMAX is a Super 35mm raw shooting 6K camera with 14 stops dynamic range, increasing to 16 stops in 3K mode, native ISO is 800. Impressive. I contacted Jihua of Kinefinity recently to talk about a few remaining questions I had on the recently announced KineMAX as well as the updated lower end model, now dubbed KineMINI.
