I would really love to see how this lens does against a $47,000 + tax cinema lens like the Optimo 15-40mm T2.6 because I honestly think it would come close.

Recently a Leica factory man came out and said he was ‘troubled’ by Sony’s approach to the NEX camera – that of a small body but large lenses. It’s an interesting remark and quite political because Leica are known to be developing their own competing mirrorless camera. Not a rangefinder like the M9 but consumer priced.

Canon EF USM 85MM F1.8 lens tops new DXOMark lens rankings

DXOMark have begun doing for lenses the great work they did with camera sensors. That is to say comprehensive scientific rankings of outright performance plus (deep breath!) a break-down of results into more detailed areas, and that, erm, makes for some fascinating discoveries.
