  1. What are the best smartphone lenses out there and are there any decent optics tests online? I know brands like Moment lead the way (perhaps with their marketing) but are there better options for an iPhone 11? Looking for quality over price although of course when it comes down to it price will be a concern. Thanks.
  2. Ok this is not the pinnacle of artistic videography or technical prowess, but hopefully it can get by on a bit of story and a location that can't be beat. I'm not very active on this forum but I have learned a lot of technical tips from lurking in old threads so I thought I might share my recent video that I'm actually very pleased with. I know you guys love the tech stuff so I'll let you know the expensive equipment I used: Olympus E-M10 with a Panasonic 14mm f2.5 and an iPhone 6. Unfortunately more than I would have liked ended up shot on the iPhone, but what can you do. It was just the two of us up there and the success (and safety!) on the climb was definitely not a sure thing, so I considered it a success to get as much footage out of it as I did. The Google Earth screen capture stuff I was pleased to figure out, but it could have been executed much better. I couldn't get the application to load the full resolution images of El Capitan, so I was stuck using the web browser which was laggy (on my computer anyways) and didn't have much in the way of camera controls. Anyways thanks for watching and hope you enjoy.
  3. Hi EOSHD community, I've been a daily reader and pretty regular commenter here over the past year, and wanted to share some exciting news. My first feature film will premiere at the LA Film Festival in two weeks! It's been a labor of love and a lot of work to get it to this point, so I'd love for any of you in the area to come out to the screening and to meet IRL. Here's a link for tickets, and the trailer's below. Also of note to readers is the many formats we used to shoot the film. Partly out of necessity, and at times for aesthetic reasons we ended up shooting on at least 5 different cameras and formats: Canon C500 4k Raw, RED, C500 HD, full-frame Canon DSLR, Panasonic GH4, and even iPhone Let me know if you can make it!
  4. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1193685734/lume-cube-flash-and-video-light-for-gopro-iphone-a?ref=nav_search Though the Switronix TorchLED Bolt seems like a great product, it's awfully expensive. Also, considering that it's impossible to make do with just one of those (it has to be softened down, and probably reflected off to get it as fill light apart from the spot light), it is not the right tool for Low Budget Indie Films (especially Shorts). I saw this a few days ago, but, it's only now that I read the entire specs sheet. This is a Superb Idea for Indie Filmmakers. With 3 of more of these, you have Super Portable Lighting, which is controllable via your smartphone (both Android and iPhone). The brightness, and flash can both be synced via the phone, and you can control upto 5 of these devices via Single Device (phone). What's even more amazing is that it's water resistant, has a magnet, and some dirt cheap mounting options via Joby. I doubt whether it can get better than this. The Cherry on the cake, though, is that it has internaiton shipping. I think this would be superb, especially for smaller spaces. What do you guys think? 6. Hey folks. I am a huge fan of the saying "limitations breed creativity" so I shot a 45 second short on my iPhone.  Nothing serious here, but a good exercize in planning shots and editing. Hope you enjoy    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9U6AtMPsmw

  8. Had one free day in March, so we shot a 6 Second Film for the Tribeca Film Festival's #6SECFILMS competition. Here's a full breakdown on how I shot it, along with the finished product:   http://jeremyosbern.com/blog/2013/03/31/telling-a-story-in-6-seconds/   I'd be interested to get your reactions.
