I did it guys. I went back to the Sony F3! Finally found a descent deal on it. 2.1k for all this. Since I don't need the 4k I was between this, a canon c300, c100, Sony fs5 and fs700. 
The F3 with 444 has 850hrs and the pix e5 came with 960gbs of storage. 

No, it's the same sensor as the F55 with a lower end CFA array, slightly different color science, and no global shutter. A really nice image and good workhorse, but the price puts it out of casual purchase territory. As a business investment, it's a little long in the tooth to make your ROI back in a timely manner. Personally, I would reach for other Sony bodies.

I was told it was the same sensor as the FS7? I guess they were misinformed. 
I kinda think something like a C300 Mk2 Or C200 might make sense at that price point. (Unless you want all the high speed stuff.) 
I haven’t seen another model of Sony camera that has the magical quality of the F3, besides the F35. 

As soon as the FS7mk1 got released, that killed the resale value of the F5. 

Made many F5 owners pissed.

But would be a rare and unusual F5 for sale that hasn't had the normal paid update to do 4K. 
 
Yes, but no, depends on how much a person wants E Mount and lighter weight. 

In most other regards the F5 is better than the FS7.
At US$4K-ish secondhand, if you're a working professional in the right market segment to move up to an F5, then it could still be a good ROI for you.
(although yeah, the far more popular FS7 would likely do a better ROI for you)

Thank you, im going to check this but i really don't know if there is such a thing where i live, i already did some soldering myself on small parts like this but this seem very tricky this time, might have to buy an other one but that's ok, i reaally want to use the f3 at its best again.

Any of you know how to desqueeze the image in camera ? (Not possible with the BMVA)
Also, the big thing would be to shoot in 4:3 with the F3 to get a good aspect ratio in the end, is it possible to change this in the settings ?

Hey yall, so my sdi input on the BMVA broke after a small fall... very bad luck on this one, i can't record with the sdi now...
I think i know the answer but hdmi is 4:2:0 8bit or 4:2:2 10bit ?

@Antoin e Look for someone who advertises modchip installations for consoles or look for a "hackerspace"; anyone with intermediate soldering skills and the ability to order a BNC connector from mouser can repair it for you, quick and cheap, assuming you didn't crack the PCB or dislodge some SMDs.

@Geoff CB Don´t you have a Tokina 28-70 2.6? Mind filming a bit with that beauty? I own that lens but still not BMVA, so I don´t bother filming with my F3 right now. My S1 gets more exposure for sure. I think F3 owners should do a F3 challenge. What kind of challenge could that be. Footage looks awesome no matter what. No challenge there.;)

I would love to do an F3 challenge. No idea what the challenge would BE, but having an excuse to shoot something sounds great.

Hey y'all! Sorry I wasn't able to get footage up sooner. I've been feeling under the weather this week, which has been understandably stressful given COVID. Still waiting for my test results, but I'm improving steadily, so hopefully everything comes back negative. 

But enough about me--let's get to the fun part.

These shots are just casual off-the-cuff clips taken around my apartment complex, but hopefully they still prove useful to those interested in how the F3 grades. I tried to get a variety of lighting scenarios, shot sizes, and color temps. The cookbook shot is ISO 1600, and the one under the bed is maxed out at 6400. Everything else is at the F3's base ISO of 800. 

At @mercer's request, I've included some cats this time. 😁

Keep in mind that I sometimes adjusted/bracketed focus or exposure during shots, so be sure and scrub through to find the most useful frames.

Yeah, you can grade F3 footage easily with just the Lift, Gamma, Gain in any grading tool and get nice results. No LUT needed. 
It is important to mention that there are two S-LOG settings on the F3. For best results, you want to set your camera to video out and enable S-LOG in the picture profile setting. If you do a standard, S-LOG out, the color is altered and harder to deal with in post. Specifically in the green channel.

@Antoin e Hey, I meant, I was taken by the beauty of your footage with the F3, motion, tones and the whole canvas. Nicely done. Thank you very much for posting! This thing in 444 indeed seems to be a beast unleashed. Cannot wait to test it myself some time soon hopefully. I found some footage of its internal 8bit 420 SLOG. The seller left some on his car. I was rather impressed. Best implementation of 8bit Log I have seen. A contender to the internal CLOG of the C100 i/ii. One thing to consider is its best WB mode. Think it was 3200K. Google will tell and Alister Chapman. 🙂

Yeah i don't know if i explained it very well, i didn't get everything myself but this seems to be a well known issue amongst colorists

Tested out my ghetto car rig, i would put a ratchet straps to secure it better if i needed to use it  on a real shoot, but it worked pretty good, went up to 50km/h, took some speed bumps and it is very stable and pretty good image :  https://vimeo.com/437269538/92404a07c1
