  1. Je suis aussi en France (Gers) mais je suis Anglais 😉
  2. Well I just made my balance pre-order payment with CVP in the UK so it must be on it's way very shortly... Obviously I will do my own testing, but on the basis that the AF works best (for video) at a higher frame rate, APSC crop, longer rather than wider focal lengths and higher shutter speeds, that bodes well as that's how I shoot! I can always send it back if it's not up to par but I have a feeling, especially for my needs, it's going to be. Better be as I sold off everything I have in advance to raise the funds and it's my only big shift in kit in 9 years! I will find out soon enough...
  3. Or just inserted the word SONY before camera. Or perhaps it’s a deliberate snub in regard to the FP because it doesn’t have a mechanical shutter?
  4. Everybody 'thinks' they do because so many people say so. The reality though is that because 99.9999999999999999% of everything is on-line, it's virtually impossible to know what anything is shot on unless you are told or in certain situations where there is a discernible difference. A friend of mine put up some stuff the other day and said, "hey look at the quality of my new Leica!" And he's a pro so should know better that maybe yes, on your 30" screen at home in Lightroom, the pics look amazeballs, but once they have been re-sized and compressed to a web friendly 150kb, they could have been shot on a 1" sensor compact for all anyone would know. I don't know about this new Sony... It looks OK to me, as in visually, but it's not really pushing any boundaries and is it anything the market was after? I dunno because I made my decision recently what i was getting in regard to new kit (second fundamental/brand change after 20 years so VERY considered!) so not as interested in anything new coming out as I was a few weeks back...
  5. Funny you should ask that as I asked myself the same question the other day which was rather than have 2x S5 + Sigma FP, why not just go for 3x S5? And the scientific conclusion I came to was nah. I like the little bugger because it is little and because it’s not anything else. Even if it does not have a tilt screen. Or 4K 60p. Or IBIS. Or EVF. Or mechanical shutter. But apart from that... 🙂
  6. Yup. It’s one of those cameras you can’t judge ultimate quality on based on rear screen or EVF but in editing on a larger pc/laptop/Mac screen. I shot an entire project of stills and video on one in the Faroe Islands over 3 days and I was impressed with the quality it could produce.
  7. You go first, test it out and then be the importer and fixer for Europe 🙂 When I get mine (hopefully next month), I can then send it to you as it's the number one thing I'd like to see.
  8. Well actually, my list would be: 1: Leica Q2 2: Leica QP 3: Fuji X100V But none are really that 'compact'. A compact for me would need to fit in my pocket and that's exactly what the Sony RX100V I had did. I used it for B roll at weddings and it was good for that, just not great above 800 iso. My last 'personal' camera was the Fuji X100f but that was dual purpose as I also used it as a 35mm lens at weddings, but for the last 2 years my personal camera has been my iphone. That is now changing and my new personal camera (again dual purpose as I will be using it at weddings for both stills & video) will be the Sigma FP with 45mm f2.8 lens and that is relatively 'compact', but only pocketable for jackets.
  9. Gaston Shutters? Sounds like a character from Viz magazine... 😂
  10. I'm just going with the free Sigma 45mm f2.8 I am getting as part of the deal with the Lumix S5 + 20-60mm. Actually, I am going to flip between these 2 lenses. With the Sigma prime, I will be using the combo just like a fixed prime lens compact for all my 'personal' work. For family trips, I'll use just the 20-60 as it has more flexibility and on holiday, I'd like that extra versatility for less serious use. I've also decided that I will use the FP + 20-60 at the widest end only, all day at weddings purely as a stills camera for those rare times I want a really wide, but also on the tripod with power bank and Rode Wireless Go for pure long form static video capture during ceremony & speeches. So kind of 4 uses out of 1 unit with the 2 lenses which is pretty cool.
  11. They could call it the Fuji TeX-100 🙂 I'm off to buy the domain and soshal meedja accounts right now...
  12. That is not so crazy... We already have several FF 'P&S' cameras well before 2020 from Sony & Leica notably. I've always fancied a FF 'P&S' but the only limitation for me was the built in lenses tended to be too wide and yes, I know you can crop in camera with some models and always crop in post with all, but it's not the same thing as having a longer lens that has more compression. So I'm buying my own version of a FF 'P&S', - the Sigma FP with 45mm f2.8 🙂 But MF in a 'P&S'? If anyone might do it, Fuji might... They have the MF tech and a slightly larger X100 style body could possibly do it... Whether they would or not is another matter and possibly the market is a bit too hybrid-orientated now for it to happen but who knows... As for this A7c, it might be interesting as a stills camera but it wouldn't fit into my needs anywhere, especially as I'm off to L Mount. It will be interesting at least to see what it's like after some hands on reviews etc.
  13. Yes. Some have reported it as ND 1-8 but it's ND 2-8. For my requirements, I'd need 2x ND versions and 2x non-ND, so 4 adaptors and that kind of rules it out for me.
  14. Yes, I'm interested in a 35mm f1.8 and 85mm f1.8 and then will do some testing and see whether I am happy switching to an APSC crop with the 85 or whether I just get something longer and retain the full frame. We shall see and in no rush as I will have the 20-60mm kit lens and Sigma 45mm to keep me entertained over the Winter. I've also seen quite a few tests now where shooting 4k 50p improved AF accuracy (good, because this is my default) and shooting fast shutter speeds improves it even further (which is also good because I do that also!) and as you say, there will probably be firmware tweaks that may just make it better anyway. For a few years I worked with Fuji and contrast detect AF (before PDAF arrived with the XT1 I think?) and have had a couple of other CAF cameras so aware of how they work and I don't shoot anything much above a moderate walking pace so never had any real issues. Except with the original X Pro1 on original firmware which couldn't capture a speeding snail.
  15. I had the OSMO Action and it was great, but I just wasn't using it as I hoped to so sold it. But it was very good and I was coming from Go Pro previously.
  16. The only issue I have with this built in ND filter is outdoors, great, but in low light... Well it would require a second adaptor with no ND for indoor/low light. But otherwise, a very interesting option and I'm at least considering it...
  17. Well I have done an about turn which went from initially being interested in the S5 to less interested to moving to it as my primary stills and filming workhorse. In 20 years, I have only made one brand switch and that was 9 years ago from Nikon to Fuji. Now it's Fuji to Panasonic (S5) + Sigma (FP) and all being well, a pair of S5's. There's enough there to convince me it will suit my specific needs and do 'more' than my current Fuji system can do. Pre-ordered the S5 (just one to start with to make sure with my own tests it suits my needs) with the 20-60mm 'kit' lens for initial testing before relegating that lens to wide angle duties, plus the bonus of a free Sigma 45mm f2.8 which will be going on a used FP when I have the funds in a month or so to buy one. 'Holy Grail' camera? Nah... Canon R5 without heating issues and maybe even R6 are 'better' as is the Sony A7S3 and undoubtedly the A74 whenever that pops up. And maybe even the Nikon Z6S, but all things considered (and there are many things unique to each of us), I think both this camera and the entire 'L' system are going to suit my needs very well for the next few years.
  18. Well sale and purchase buttons have all been pressed now. At least that is the sale button and courier collects today. Pre-order in for the first stage of my move to L Mount. I've had some fun (and some frustrations, especially in the early days) with Fuji, but the time for change has come.
  19. And that has been my perpetual problem for many years causing me to adapt! Great lenses for photography, but less so for video with only a couple of choices and if you shoot a lot of low light AND want any real shallow DOF and retain AF, then... Plus for my personal needs, I don't think I'd have one in my hands before the end of March 2021 and I want to start my next season fully up to speed with all my gear. OK for me, a switch from XTanything to XH2 would not be too difficult but I don't like change full stop so avoid it if I can. The future of Panasonic or even the full RebeL Alliance is a slight concern, but I think they will be fine and I'm looking at S5 bodies as a min 3 year deal anyway so will have had my money's worth even if the whole pack of cards comes crashing down. I suspect it won't and the trio all bring something to the party.
  20. Feel free to PM me or start a topic and happy to answer any questions so as not to pollute this thread any further!
  21. Well I shoot roughly 60% stills and 40% video, so for me, somewhat obviously, a stills orientated camera is a must, but if I was shooting pure video, pretty sure I'd be shooting a dedicated video style camera and not compromising in certain areas with a hybrid.
  22. @BTM_Pix THANKS and SUPERB! OK, I'm pretty much sold now on moving lock stock and 3 smoking barrels over to the L Mount Alliance. For this static stuff, I'll hook it up to my power bank and get an external SSD then. I don't think I need to go down the route of anything like an external monitor as my use here is very much; set up, focus lock, press record and what will be will be and all my clients know this and are advised in regard to what the optimal set up is and that's it's static and unmanned. Single FP + 2x S5 looks my immediate future and next few years. Thanks everyone for all your input, much appreciated.
  23. OK, great, what I thought then! FF or APSC for stills = check. APSC at all times for 4k 50p = check. Just waiting on a quote for all my Fuji and other gear and then it's L Mount Alliance here we come. It's offering me the closest to my needs out of anyone and also at the best cost to change. Which is a bonus.
  24. One other FP question... I think I am right in this, but need to confirm. So let's say I have my FP now and it's on a tripod with the 45mm f2.8 shooting 25p 4k...but it's not quite tight enough. Damn, I don't have another (longer) lens and can't move the tripod any closer. No problem, switch to APSC crop and hey presto, it's now a '67-68mm equivalent' focal length?! If so, fanfuckintastic, because that means I could lose both the Sigma 18-35mm and Tamron 45mm, because as much as I love them, the former especially is a bit of a weighty beast and both require adapters which just adds even more to the load, but being able to switch to an APSC crop and effectively increase my focal length would be perfect for my needs.
