Yeah I just don’t buy it. 6K and anamorphic isn’t value add enough to pay extra for the “H” model. Not to mention there are already full frame cameras that are shooting 6K and downsampling to 4K. Isn’t this what the A7iii does?

I wonder why Panasonic is doing such a soft release. Has this been done in the past by any camera company? If I was in the market for something like this I would be weighing wether to wait for this S1H or just buy another camera now. At this point we can’t really count on anything except it’s called the S1H and it shoots 4K 60 internal.

FCPX is not a bad program, however Apple has woefully neglected it. Feature wise...it sucks. It has been fast and stable for me over the last 4 years. But then you fire up Resolve and it’s just about as fast and it’s just loaded with useful features like local adjustments with tracking and object removal. I think I would like to build something like this, but with the new Ryzen and a Nvidia GPU. I want cool, quiet, small footprint and performance. I just wish it had more ports.

I own a fair amount of Apple products and I am well aware of the “Apple tax”, but generally, in the past, you were getting a solidly built machine with decent specs and a great ecosystem that just worked. This new machine looks like an IKEA foot stool with hardware to match a foot stool. The base specs and components are laughable. The very fact that diehard Apple fans laughed at the $1000 monitor stand says all you need to know: Apple has lost touch with the Pro users who championed the hardware and software. Apple has left me no choice but to choose a PC in the next few years. Pricing this at $6000 is a clear sign they are not interesting in Pro users that make up the bulk of Apple enthusiast that championed the system in the past. It’s even a rip off for cash cow media studios. I would frankly be surprise to see a version of this under $3000 that didn’t come with 2+ year old hardware in the base configuration. What a joke. All about the margins now.

Yeah, sorry I contributed to that. On a side note I discovered the ignore feature.

Oh man don’t feed his anger. I suggest that they take a calm walk in the woods with a camera (any camera, I don’t care) before they die of a heart attack.

Dude, chill out. What is your problem. Why does it bother you people like the GH5 and use it to create quality content for two years. Did the GH5 steal your girlfriend/boyfriend? Based on your posts you seem like an angry person.

What I find astonishing is that it hasn’t been beaten in its category until, well, Panasonic S1 series release. I really hope Panasonic recognizes the potential and the expectations of the GH6 and rises to the challenge.

I’ve noticed a bit of a bump in DR over the GH5. Especially if you use the HLG profile has a capture profile only. Panasonic has said that removing the IBIS allows more thermal wiggle room with what they could do. So far, I don’t think they have actually done anything with it. If they became more serious about the GH5S and added things like external ProRes Raw support via HDMI, more interesting internal codec options. I don’t think it will ever have RAW unless external or something like a magic lantern hack for it.

I bought the GH5S before the P4K was released. I’ve said many times Panasonic needs to give GH5S a bit of love with firmware updates and perhaps a price drop. Because who would buy it when the P4K has BRAW and internal ProRes? In my uses, like shooting in rainy conditions, and blowing wind in Iceland and Norway, the P4K would have been toast.

I believe it’s 100Mbps longGOP. I’m not sure what the effective per frame bitrate is.

Yes, this thread has dipped into the muck a bit.

OK, so I finally got some time today to shoot a few shots with the PL 50-200 I received a few weeks ago. I'm very pleased with this lens. Everything shot in 4Kp24 at 150Mbps LongGOP in HLG on GH5S.

Those are some sweet deals for people wanting to upgrade.

Help The Camera Manufactures Choose Must Have FeaturesVideo Hummus replied to DBounce's topic in Cameras I want em all! I tried to limit to three but ended up picking four. Dynamic range, IBIS, built in ND, and weather sealing / build quality. I wish Olympus would do better for video. I really love their build quality. They are truly rugged and weather sealed.

The train is obviously leaning heavily to the left. It’s bad and looks unrealistic. No “panPan” in that shot. People blog on the EOS R. There is a lot of panning when they flip the camera around or spin at all. No one wants to get in a pissing match about your camera and that you love it. Many people (even people who own it) express disappointment with Canon with it. It has some great features but a lot of compromises people can’t get over.

It will look like a 18-45 f3 on a GH5S. Which is even a bit more wide. On a GH5 with ETC it can be a 20-75 f3.5. If one doesn’t already have fast prime already (I don’t) this is a no brainer purchase. Especially since it has manual focus clutch and reduced focus breathing and a stepless aperture wheel for smooth aperture changes.

Shot on GH5 and GH5S with the new lens. Looks really good to me. This lens with ETC is a powerhouse.

I have the same hunch as well. They are probably taking the time to design a whole new body for future cameras as well. Maybe even chipsets and all. Shooting at 4Kp60 with PDAF in chip and eye AF is probably challenging on the hardware. Why can’t they bring this to GH5/S? It’s just a software update. Please Panny!
-
But PDAF isn’t DPAF so it’s still crap ?
-
Whoops I quoted a selection of a qoute inside your post. Sorry.
-
Expect to see higher prices everywhere. They better deliver with the GH6.
