That should work well, yeah. You might even get better results than with the XLR1. I use the XLR1 as much for convenience than anything.

Do these companies ever design the sensor and then send it to Sony to make? Or do companies just depend on Sony to develop them on their own and then use what is available to them? I'm admittedly not the most knowledgeable about sensor tech. I know some cameras share sensors, but like, does it make sense for companies to just rely on Sony deciding whether or not they're going to make a sensor? Cause that seems like a bad idea to me?

This looks pretty promising. It'll be interesting to see some independent reviews to see how good it is. Has anyone used their non-dummy adapters? How good are they?

I care. And everyone else should too. We shouldn't have an adversarial relationship with a company we're giving our money, nor should we need someone to spend $4,000 on a camera so they can do extensive testing, take it apart, etc. so we know whether or not we're being screwed. We shouldn't accept this!

Honestly, whether it's incompetence or intentional, the R5 should be reason enough for people to cease supporting this company until they get their shit together. There are companies that value their customers. Reward them instead.

I begrudgingly tip my hat to Canon if, to try and hide their crippling, they created fake overheating issues. Like, bravo guys! 🤡 Lots of ups and downs with this camera, huh?

It really does blow my mind how willing people are to reward Canon with their money even if it means having to use an external recorder, empty card slots, and a dummy battery to get usable results.

When the idea was posted of doing a contest on here a few weeks back with the GH2 I looked at eBay to see the prices and was really surprised to see how much they were going for. I feel like I looked about 2 years ago and they were well under $250, but now they were $300 and up. Heck, I bought my GX85 for $250 in January, so that seems like a lot for the GH2!

The 7artisans lenses are actually quite decent for the price. I think you'll be happy with it.

Agreed. I just need reassurances that M43 is going to still be relevant, otherwise it doesn't make sense to invest more into the system.

It wouldn't let me edit my last post, but I wanted to add that the Olympus situation has made me reevaluate M43 a bit. I think it can survive, but Panasonic can't keep denying things like PDAF when that's what the majority of customers want. While it isn't that important to me, the growth/sustainability of the system is because I'm heavily invested in it. I want to know that it will be around and competitive in 5 years, and a big part of that is meeting the expectations of the customers.

I think the GH6 will likely have similar specs as the S1H, with a few extra ones that take advantage of the M43 system. I really hope I'm wrong but I don't expect either ProRes or PDAF. Maybe they'll surprise us, but they really seem dead set on DfD auto focus and I think it's a big, big mistake. It matters little to me personally, but it's clearly what people want / expect. Not doing it would just be a bad look, perception wise.

Remember how Canon flew people to a tropical island for the EOS R announcement? Imagine the R5 in those conditions! 😂
