  1. Yep and when the cpu design is done by a 1.6 trillion $ company as their primary business on a 1000000 time large scale product....
  2. Boy is first camera at any price that can do FF 120fps and you are crying because it does not fit your scenario of very long takes at 120fps then FF is not for you as this is the only one in town.... is like saying that a cheap dragster cannot race at daytona 24h...
  3. It seems that there is an HQ mode and you can have it on or off and it changes from oversampling to binning. To be confirmed
  4. On RS ,and I'm purely speculating here is that in FF 4k oversampling will be bad 30ms.... and if you turn off oversampling then it would be good or very good as it can do 60 and 120fps with AF...... let see when people test out and see what is the price in term of quality....
  5. I agree R5 is targeted to photographer first and video for people that wants really high quality even in hfr with AF for short takes 1-10 min at a time. FF 8K RAW with AF nobody has it but even more impressive is FF 4k 120fps with AF, not other camera at any price has it so expecting that a 4k camera does all this in a fan less weather sealed tiny body are living in another planet... I really want to see some RAW and some original LOG 4k 120fps, RS and DR too but so far it seems much more than I was expecting.... especially the 4k 120 seems very good qualtiy but need to see more and the out of camera files....
  6. No problem this is what a forum is for, looking in to details based on user experience. So nothing to apologies for....
  7. Problem is that he is not recording so all the canon has histogram but goas away while you record a video. 1Dx III does it would be cool if it finally stays on.... at least this one has zebra
  8. Where exactly? it has zebra but did not see any waveform or histogram while recording but I could have missed
  9. Newshooter reports max 5 min for 120fps 4k... here 29 min but I doubt seems a mistake. This is also a mistake "What is the ISO range for 8K RAW?" it mention 1dx start at iso 400 but you can use iso 100 in RAW (disabling log that controls highlight protection RAW)
  10. Btw there is also a time limit of 5 minutes in 120fps.... probably to control the overheating...... the pre-roll would be cool but probably it will overheat.... For me 4k 120fps FF with AF in a 4k usd body if the quality is what it seems to be I'm very impressed. Also cool that it has APS-C 4k crop... curious to see the rolling shutter and how ibis on and off behave on a gimbal. 8k RAW are huge but in proportion of a C500 II 6k RAW so not so out of this world but for sure only for short takes... Is the histogram available while recording?
  11. Who is shooting long take at 120 fps? If the quality is good I really don’t care the size. No other ff 120 fps on the market period, not even for 50k usd..... and this with AF... Need to check some 120 fps would be cool to see some original files not ytube stuff Edit: did watch Peter 120fps clip in 4k and it looks really promising.... I did not expect that quality to be honest at 120 fps.... Any other clips around at 4k 120fps ?
  12. SH1 6k 29.7 ms, 4k 24,2 ms and with basically no AF GFX100 4k 28 ms..... Sony A9 4k is also in this ball pack..... The big complain is that they should have switched to faster readout if you go MF...... at 30, 25 and 24.
  13. On Canon so far 120 is hfr option separated from the normal framerates
  14. H265 4:2:2 10bit currently is not HW accelerated by Nvidia or by intel quicksync. Nvidia 10xx supports 10 bit 4:2:0 and 20xx supports 10bit 4:2:0 and 4:4:4 but no 4:2:2 On resolve you need to disable quicksync to playback h265 10bit 4:2:2....
  15. As I’m on windows it could be that Resolve on Mac has issues that are not on Windows. Do you take long takes or short? Mine are normally between 2 min and 10min max per take. Did you try to low level format the cards and then format on the camera. But first do a low level formatting not sure how to do it on Mac... Ps I don’t use the sandisk cfexpress usb card reader as mine was not working as many others have reported....
  16. I only use card recommended and tested by the manufacturer as I had bad experience in the past for example lexar cfast 3400 were really problematic. No gambling on media
  17. Canon recommend and list sandisk cfexpress and for 5.5k only above 128 GB due to speed. Nobody seems to be using the sony cfexpress so it could be your card has issue with the camera or it cannot sustain the speed. I have 2 512gb and 1 256gb sandisk no problem at all so far. I shoot 90% in RAW and I don’t have any issue with stability in Resolve other than gpu out of memory if I have a 5.5k timeline with many nodes( 8 gb vram). I’ editing on a 3 years old gaming notebook. I shoot and edit weekly.... What machine do you have?
  18. Assuming that the LiveView AF is similar to the 1Dx III, EF lens would work very well at least the one that I have. There will be probably a few good used deal for EF and for video with the ND adapter are probably a better value. The 50 1.2 EF is small lighter and cheaper than the RF counter part. But the RF is definitely sharper but also almost 3x of a used 50 1.2 The RF 70-200 is interesting due to the collapsible nature but not sure is worth 3x the price of a used 70--200 II The 28-70 2.0 is very cool but with a filter size of 95mm is a bit of a challenge for ND, there are some ND that you can mount inside the throat of the camera... also very expensive and heavy and is not internal zoom so for gimbal is a problem. The RF lens seems all better than the EF counterpart but are they 3x the price better? To note that the variable ND adapter does not come with a clear filter so you need do buy that on top or buy also the normal adapter that is cheaper than the clear filter......
  19. Market is shrinking massively and will continue so, too many players. This is the first of many to come... covid probably will just accelerate this. Pro market and serious hobbits are the only markets that will exist and are much smaller than consumer one.
  20. I have no idea with Premiere just use VLC player and check the codec info
  21. In Resolve on a 8GB VRam gpu with 5.5k raw is no problem on a 4k dci timeline but on a 5.5k timeline sometime I get gpu out of memory so I need to be more carful on the nodes.... 8k timeline could be problematic with 8GB Vram with just basic nodes. I use above 4k timeline to pull pictures and to save a master if I don’t want to keep the original raws to save storage. So not a big issue for me but worth to mentioning.
