mechanicalEYE reacted to Javier López in An adventure into the Panasonic GX85/80 begins - and a look at the Leica Nocticron for Micro Four Thirds
Hi, I´m Javier and I´m the autor of this video, sorry my English is so bad!!. I am very grateful for the nice comments. I love this forum, I have learnt a lot about filmmaking for years as a follower of EOSHD. Talking about the video, in camera setting was Natural Profile all parameters -3 noises reduction -2, i-dynamic and i-resolution OFF. A few shots in 4k and the rest of them 1080 50p for slow motion. Everything was shot hand-held. It was edited in Final Cut Pro X, I applied post-stabilization in a couple of shots, I don't remember which of them. The primary color correction of each shot was made in this program too with color correction tool and finally I applied film convert plugin in a adjustment layer to all the video.
Greetings to all you, and thanks again, nice to be here!

Honestly. That's probably the nicest footage I have seen from the camera.

To sum it up:
Voigtländer 25mm at f1.4-2.0
Tiffen Ultra Contrast 3
Filmconvert GH4 Profile, standard setting. Best results with the FJ Super x400 or KD P400 preset. Yet, those shots dont had any filmconvert applied.

Here are a couple of shots, OOC. Looks quite fine to me as a starting point for grading.

Standard -5/-5/-5/-5
however as you can see the shadows are far away from being crushed.
this ia due to the tiffen ultra contrast filter. Together with filmconvert this combo really sings, because filmconvert lowers the shadows in such a way that you only need to adjust the highlights and some subtle skintone correction.

My mistake, Sanveer is correct. The video was tagged with GX80/GX85 tags but was not shot using the camera. It was tagged because their next project will be shot completely using the GX80/GX85.

The GX80 finally arrived in Norway too. First impressions are really good and stabilizer is truly amazing! If anyone is building a rig with an external monitor please share some images of it.

Hi Andrew, I am looking forward to your next part on the GX85/ 80/ 7 markii. If you could please test:
1. Image sharpness with a lens like the Leica 42.5mm f1.2 or 25mm f1.4, especially on comparing it with the GX8 and GX7 would be great.
2. Some high photos from sporting events or any high speed action would be great. Especially compared to other Panasonic or Olympus cameras.
3. Video recorded into Blackmagic 4k Monitor would be greatly appreciated. I am curious as to how well it holds (and grades), including the mic preamps on that one. And, how it compares to everything else on the market.
