Weddings are kind of my bread and butter. Like most people here I started on Canon DSLRs, but eventually went mirrorless. While I've shot quite a few with the GH4 and A7s i/ii, my tried-and-true favorite combination for weddings for the last 2 years or so is my NX1 with a battery grip (battery life for days!) on a benro monopod. The 4k is fantastic, the 60p is excellent and the 120p is very good. For glass, probably 99% of the time I'm using either the sigma 18-35 or the rokinon 85mm. I have an SLR magic variable ND with xume magnetic filter holders, so I can just clop it on and off any lenses i use in half a second, very convenient for the running and gunning of weddings. Who needs internal NDs when it's that easy.

For steadicam shots, lately I keep an NX500 with a rokinon 12mm on a zhiyun crane ready to go in my bag when I need some cool camera movement. I've pared down my wedding kit so that I can carry it all with me all the time(peak design everyday messenger for the win!) I have  a nasty habit of setting things down in the moment, forgetting about them, losing them, etc. and it's just so much of a hassle to have too much gear. I've done the whole ronin thing, extra lights, all the lenses I MIGHT need, but then you have the risk of that stuff laying around when you're not using it, just not worth it for me, especially since most of the time I'm a one-man-band.

Like everyone is saying, audio is important (I live in Utah, i.e. lots of Mormons here, so I don't actually film too many ceremonies, just the happy couple coming out of the temple) but for the odd ceremony it's really not too much trouble to throw a Sennheiser g3 or something similar on the priest, and line-out record the house audio with any recorder you want for backup and you're golden. I just don't see much of a reason to over-complicate things. Weddings are easy. Pretty fun too. Good luck!

Nope, definitely not. Only Mormons can go inside, and certainly no filming or anything like that would be allowed. For a typical Utah Mormon wedding video I film a romantic/stylized bridals session/first look thing, b-roll of the temple grounds, which are always very lovely, then the couple coming out of the temple to family cheering, hugs, etc. Then it's off to the reception for the cake/garter/bouquet/dancing and exit. And they're all just exactly like that, so sometimes it's hard to make them seem different. It's nice not to have to worry as much about the audio of all the speeches and ceremonies and more traditional wedding stuff like the rest of y'all though.

It's good to leave the post here, even if you answered your own question! Maybe someone will need such a solution.
I use the Varavon one (not with the battery grip), which I just noticed has an extremely low price http://varavon.com/collections/hot-deal-zone/products/armor-ii-nx1-pro-cage?variant=4096862915
there is the standard version also, for less!

This thread was created so we can all share our opinions on the lut pack, as some of you may know, these were created specifically to the NX1, however, I've made some tests on Sony Cine4, Nikon D800 and Canon 5D Mark 3 with very pleasant results.
The lut pack contains 9 different luts, ranging from color to black & white, stylized looks to achieve a filmic effect on the nx1 footage.
Heres a sample of what to expect from the looks :
    Fully Graded with Greenleaf
Later today I will add new screengrabs of all the different looks, and what its best used on.
Feedback is very very important, this was created for the community, and I will follow all of your opinions in order to update the pack and deliver the best possible results! I hope you all have fun and like using them as much as I've had created them!
    Happy gradings!!

Yeah I can't wait to get mine either! Checking my mailbox every day ha. I plan on using mine for stills as well, so I'll post some detailed 28mp shots of with and without for sure, for proper comparisons. But it looks to be holding the detail really well! Of course we're all sad that Samsung abandoned this great camera, but at the same time I very much doubt anything like the NX-L would ever have been created otherwise, so it's quite the silver lining. You rock, @lucabutera!

Wow... The new Phantom 4 pro is looking very sweet as well! Really makes me wish they'd introduced a regular Mavic though, and then had the Mavic Pro version have all the cool extra features like higher bitrate, variable aperture, mechanical/global shutter thing (amazing!!) and the better flight sensors. Also 4k 60P! This is just making my choice even harder.
On a side note: Wow I can't even imagine how much DJI execs must have been laughing at poor GoPro's karma launch, even without the recall. DJI is absolutely killing it.

    Good news!
The color luts are complete, I will now create 2 black and white, and a free lut as well.
    Heres another quick look :

Some are soft, others are more stylized. I also tested them with the Nikon D800 files a friend sent me, and they work great!
Im really excited to hear what you guys think, what should be tweaked or added and all the stuff you can come up with!

Small update on the lut pack,
I didnt have much time to finish all of them yet this weekend, and I really want them to all serve a purpose and be used for different scenarios, so I will need another week. Heres a small update on one of them, that is actually one of my favorite ones.

    And full images :

These examples were all one click only, no tweaking necessary. This lut will be called Greenleaf.

Here a quick test were you can see something.Of course the light is quite shitty, but the day out was horrible (a lot of rain)...
It's made with my vintage lens m42 Takumar smc 35-50-200 mm.I think that if we want to test possible purple fringe we have to use a newer lens(my takumar has  just purple fringe without the adapter...so..)As you can see the increase of light is really good and the sharpness too, in all of the frame for me(I ve to make some test at work with a grade 1 monitor for really better result).
I've noticed a little flou effect on 50mm takumar at 2.8 f..I've to investigate better because I'm not sure that is the adapter.
All the clips are taken with a tripod in the same position.
I will post the camera setting later, and a wetransfer link with the original files(this are converted in h264 from Premiere cc ...sorry but I've to work again this evening, I hope that this will be useful for someone!
p.s. when I have buied the adapter from Luca I've to tell that I was thinking..."why I've to spend all of this money for a simple piece of metal with a lens ...when I've see the piece I've understood that the construction is really complicated(if Luca want, I can post some detail of the adapter..)

I'm sorry but I'm out for work until tomorrow...I will make some video test on Monday! But I've to say that I've make a little superficial test and I can say that is really sharp..and...for sure we gain something like a stop(more or less)And the construction is really really well done!

Aputure DEC is very affordable, especially if you're already adapting lenses. Wouldn't be too hard to use with a gimbal at all.

I've been interested in attaching things to the handle but haven't come up with the best way yet. Perhaps something like the Daisho gimbal clamp system mentioned in the other thread by Cinegain or a long plate system or the upcoming two-handle attachment for the Crane.
In any case I don't see much reason to get the smaller Crane-M if there's any possible chance in the future you'd ever want to use a larger camera/lens combo on it.
FYI with the new "5D" firmware for stabilizing the pitch for heavier lenses, the Crane is now smooth and stable (including pitch which was previously bouncy) in ALL modes with my 70D + Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Art! (755g + 811g = 1566g!) You can see before & after in another person's setup.

The Aputure 198s look cool to me as well, but mostly for kickers/hairlight/accents. Source Four Pars are only $10 more apiece for good used copies and offer much more output and control. Plus, at 575W, you can run two off the same circuit with headroom to spare. If I were on a budget and needed two lights, I'd choose those in a heartbeat over LEDs. They're small, too, so you don't need amazing light stands to support them. I've used aluminum Insignia stands from Best Buy without an issue, although you're going to want to sandbag them.

Also, I almost forgot China Balls! Insanely cheap, but used in all kinds of production from two guys in their dorm room to Roger freaking Deakins. Pop an incandecent bulb, flourescent, or even a rolled-up LED strip inside and you've got a soft, even light that's easy to rig where you need it.

Yeah hopefully it's more stable. 2015.3 for the most part was stable for me, but on one project last week, out of nowhere, it was freezing, stuttering, crashing, giving me errors, using an insane amount of RAM... I don't know what unholy combination  of plugins, proxies, and footage from different cameras in that particular project combined in such a hellish way to make it behave like that, but I was about ready to throw my computer out the window. Fingers crossed here.
