  1. Wanting a mega RAID 10 NAS.
Testing a new to me PC build with windoze10 pro.
Luckily, my Resolve Studio dongle is legit, it works coming from the older Win7Pro station.
    ASRock Z370 Killer SLI/ac - 8700K - Zotec 2080 - only 16GB right now...
ASRock Thunderbolt 3 AIC is at the PO, I missed the delivery today.
I've read many other forums this combo works, even with Hackingtosh builds.
Wanting a cheap way to test the communications protocol first...

  2. Hi kye,

    I appreciate the detailed reply!

I think my biggest problem with Resolve workflow, is that I don't have the proper time to truly learn and use it.

My personal time is limited due to a high pressure fulltime+ job, sigh...

I only get to use Resolve sporadically, and often forget what I did during the last session.

  3. Hello everyone,

Is there anything inherently wrong with generating/saving a new DB per project?

I was thinking of copying the data from the camera to the internal stripped SSD drives, and creating all the project directories using these drive paths.

This way, I only have to copy the backed up project data back to the SSds and not get the dreaded media offline errors.

Wanting to use the fastest drives, while not getting the media offline errors when the project isn't on the current external drive.

  4. From Fuji Rumors page:

    https://www.fujirumors.com/organic-sensor-to-be-used-in-this-panasonic-camcorder-in-early-2019/

    Organic Sensor

L-rumors.com just shared the image of the first Panasonic 8K camcorder featuring an organic sensor and they also shared some specs:

Camcorder coming in late 2019, as Panasonic officially said here

Global Shutter (exposes all pixels at the same time and read the data all at once). This will at last kill the distortion caused by rolling shutters.

    88 at 60fps

Panasonic said the sensor has “high sensitivity” and “wide dynamic range” but did not share exact numbers

It has a step less electronic ND filter (Panasonic said it does NOT chabge color balance when using it)

Sensor can switch between “high-sensitivity” mode and “high-saturation” mode

I remind you that just recently here, Panasonic said that the development of the organic sensor with Fujifilm continues. This could be the first application in a digital camera for this sensor.

Magic lantern is making a lot of progress with 3K+ on the 5D mark 2!

Seems what happened with the 5 year old mark III in 2017 is now happening with the 10 year old mark II...

    3K announcement: https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=19336.msg205638#msg205638

Initial 4K progress (10.5 frames per second): https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=19336.msg208417#msg208417
Initial 5K progress (6.5 frames per second): https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=19336.msg208355#msg208355

The 5D mark II has always been limited to 30fps, but there is also some progress in getting higher framerates:  https://twitter.com/autoexec_bin/status/1048804509827452928

The forum user reddeercity has some builds on that thread.

I am super excited about this, even spent 100 pound on a new motherboard to fix my camera.

Video I made using the 3K build:

Shot in 2880x1080 resolution, Graded + converted to ProRes using MLV App (https://github.com/ilia3101/MLV-App), edited in Pitivi on linuX.

Lenses: Jupiter 9, Helios 44, Takumar 135mm, cosina 19-35 (for one shot)

If anyone wants an MLV or DNG or something from the video I can provide.

Wow, gotta try this for sure...

Why not just display the microphone level on the recording screen?

Hmm, I think that is actually being performed as is set up.

I need to play with the GH5 rig some more.

My biggest problem is that I bounce around from the X-T2 rig, and the GH5 rig, hard to keep up sometimes.

Anywho, family Thanksgiving is beckoning, later...

    Happy Thanksgiving to EVERYONE!

  7. I always wanted to get the DMW-XLR1 microphone adapter, however, the controls are on the LEFT side.
I work from the RIGHT side.

Anyone try the Lanparte extension cable for the DMW-XLR1 microphone adapter?
Suppossedly the Canon OC-3 external flash cable adapter works also?

These would be great, if they work, allowing you to mount how you wanted, and NOT on the hot shoe mount of the camera body.
