  1. sorry to trash the topic, but does anyone know if it is possible to show reC709 on top of shooting vlog. But just recording v-log without an external monitor. I have a shoot coming up, and I need to show the shots to the client, but he will tell me it's all flat, so could be helpfull If I could show him a REC709 on the S5II screen itself. But I don't seem to find it, REC709 log help is on, but I don't see a difference, so I guess its only hdmi out.
  2. Has anyone compared the FHD vs 4K? And see a major quality difference, I mainly shoot fhd 50fps. But now I am tempted to shoot 4K but a bit afraid of the crop at 50fps. So not sure if it's worth the trade off. (don't have the camera on me to test for myself this weekend).
  3. Hi guys, Something that annoys me so much is whenever you render individual clips in davinci resolve and are using a adjustment layer, it does not render the color grade from the adjustment layer (unless you make compound clips from each clip). Does anybody have a fix for this? If not would be a good feature request for bm. cheers
  4. Would love an alexa tiny with the old sensor ar an affordable price.
  5. Exactly, I am so bummed out about buying the s5ii now I know I could record braw to ssd with the s5iix.
  6. The price of the Raw update over hdmi for the s5ii is kinda ridiculous if you compare it to the s5iix, why would one choose the s5ii + raw update over the s5iix because then the price would be very similar..
  7. Haa I just now saw the s5 II also can get the BRAW upgrade for 200$ over HDMI. Are there any braw recorders out there that are small and battery efficient. As the bm video assists are heavy and power hungry. Already have the S5 II, If I would have known I might have just bought the S5IIX.
  8. Hope they will find a way to newer cameras as well. The DR of those cameras is quite limited.
  9. I wonder how the AF performs with EF lenses. Vs my panasonic s5 ii as autofocus with EF lenses is really great on the s5ii. The dollar - euro price ratio is weird though 2200 dollars vs 2700 euro. That is such a huge pricejump for european people. I could fly to new york, have a city trip and fly back for the same price as I would buy one in Europe.
  10. Hoping that somebody does a side by side of the S5 ii and the new sony zv-e1. I know it overheats but it ticks so many boxes that it kinda makes me regret buying the s5 II. The highlight rolloff looks so nice in the footage that I have seen online so far. (smaller). One of the biggest downsides of the sony is that adapting EF glass to it will not AF as good as Sony glass, while on the s5 II it really works so good.
  11. Its been ages since a new blackmagic camera. They still hold up so well, but would def want to see something new in their gamma.
  12. Would love to see a shootout of this vs the panasonic s5 ii. I mainly bought the s5ii for vlogging (Af). Due to circumstances i havent shot anything in a while. So this camera might be even more interesting then the s5 ii. But I have not seen any review video yet though.
  13. Yeah this is a shootout that I want to see, I do miss my 5D III. If I can find one for a bargain I might pick it up and compare it to the S5 II. The micro jitter of the 5D III is something that I do not miss though, but locked off it might be interesting.
  14. Sorry I don't own a colour chart. I could maybe print one 😄
  15. Will do a S5 - S5II comparison later on, if you guys want me to test something specific let me know.
  16. Hello, I know this is not a business forum but a tech forum. But I would like to start a topic on the business side of video. So if you are starting over from zero, how do you get to 10K the fastest? How would you do it? How would you get clients? What kind of business(freelancer videographer/digital agency/weddings/...) would you start? What niche and so on? Cheers!
  17. Ok never mind, I think I found it. I think it is a bug, doing some tests later on, maybe I will ask one of you to test the same.
  18. So I updated the sigma mc-21 yesterday, and did some more tests and everything was fine. Today I wanted to do a new test, but I can't get the camera to continiously autofocus anymore. (it should work in all codecs and picture profiles right? also changed shutter to angle). Lens is on AF, camera is on AFC/human detection, I even hit record, the box appears and follows me around but no focus what'so ever, any idea's? I would have thought it would be more easy.
  19. Thanks! Just checked the light, its the same for me. I also tested it on the original S5, and it only lights when charging. Maybe there is a setting so you can use it as a tally light (not sure). I guess the AF eats battery and that's why its default to off when its not recording.
  20. update 2: ok it does not need to lock onto my face when I hit record. 🙂 Just tried out my canon 50mm 1.2 at 1.2 and worked pretty good. My panasonic 85mm 1.8 allthough does make a lot of noise. Looks like there is no firmware update for the 85mm 1.8, just updated the firmware of the mc-21. (sorry for fast posts, just trying some stuff out and typing at the same time). Does anybody already have some AF settings recommendations?
  21. Update1: looks like I need to actually hit the record button. ( I hope I do not need to lock onto my face when start recording. As in some conditions I will need to record and climb a fence or whatever so my face will only be on screen after a while).
  22. Ok stupid question, I just got my panasonic s5 ii and have not read any documentation yet. But I just set the camera on a tripod flipped the screen. Put the lens to AF, camera to AFC, and focus area to human. Ok great, so now I run to the front of the camera, and there are boxes appearing around my face. But the focus does not change whatsoever. Do I need to change something else? Or do I need to actually record, or press the half shutter mode? Thanks
  23. Yeah was a S5 user (with lots of EF glass with the sigma adapter), but was thinking about getting an A7S III just because of the AF performance (vlogging). But now the S5 II just fixes all my problems, I can keep my EF lenses and don't need to buy any sony lenses. So in my opinion Panasonic just converted a lot of Canon users to panasonic.
  24. Thanks, If i part with my sennheiser g4 that is a option indeed. (don't have a need for 2 wireless lav systems). I do wonder how people are doing it recording it camera on the best way possible. Syncing in post does slow it down a tiny bit. (mainly the loading/offloading of the SD cards, importing the tracks, auto syncing them, set it to stero, bypass the original sound)
  25. Hi guys, I am getting a panasonic S5 II, mostly for vlogging. Would make my life so much easier vs the original s5. I currently own a sennheiser G4 wireless lav set, zoom H6 and a sennheiser mkh416 (and small rode videomic shotgun). But for vlogging and walking around, what would be the best setup? In the past I always recorded into the zoom H6 and synced it up in post. Just because I found the quality a bit better then recording straight into the panasonic S5 mini jack port. (maybe the zoom has better pre-amps? But now I am thinking of removing the zoom h6 out of the equation, just because it eats battery, and it is another device to handle, the easier/faster I guess) - sennheiser g4 into the panasonic S5 II directly through mini jack? - get the DMW-XLR1 and rig up the s5 ii for mkh 416 use Thanks!
