  1. I think, Panasonic really has some mojo going. It is all about the settings and the grading. Besides WB, light, setting of course:). I still like some of the GX7´s footage on vimeo the best of all Panny cams. Maybe it is the GX7 shooters, maybe the absence of adventerous usage of luts, I don´t know. Came across this video below, seemingly shot in 50p. Still looks filmic in a way the beautiful motion picture Bin Jip does. Some beautiful tones and hues going on. If people referred to Japanese preference for greenish tones- this is what I would assume to have been meant. Not 8bit SLOG graded greens of Sony color horrors!:) Out of box a lot of footage looks like a drawing done with crayons. With a certain way of color treatment it can look like a oil painting with a richness to it. Some "hidden" magic in those Pannys. Now, maybe the examples colors below doesn´t fit the bill for some readers but to me it is a beautiful illustration of the Panny mojo. To me even more so than the cool GX7 beach footage with the Ultra Contrast filters, which has been posted on this beautiful forum some longer time ago.
  2. Hey Merc, show some mercy and shoot some beautiful lucious greens with the xc10, mixed with some 60p , if time allows. Was kinda thinking about eosm, but g6 has it for me. Next step g7 or gx80, meanwhile renting the xc10. Got hooked to its look when its promo vid came out with the old guy chasing two guys who robbed a girl´s purse. While It takes some effort to grade those Pannys it is definately worth it. Great hybrids with some of the best price-picture quality ratio out there, if not the best for G6 and G7. I think it would be interesting to test A3G3 and such settings more and post some curves and nodes that go along well. cheers

  4. @mercer Hey man, this is some beautiful footage, great feeling for light and shapes. Loving how you start and end with the tilt. Some great tones, some of the out of focus areas look like from a painting. Nice concept and effective use of tripod moves. Great job, not easy showing the beauty of foliage and trees. Some parts with the branches look again like from a painting of one of the greats of landscape painting like C.D.Friedrich. The girl is a woman and would spank Bobby´s tush if he would say "This is this and that is that".:) Hey man, I remember your musicvideo you did with FDs. You were another ambassador making me consider the FDs in combination with the G6. Was a good choice listening to you guys!:) cheers
  5. @mercer With the hoop, It is one node making the difference with an almost inverted S Curve. Then putting that layer in layer mode Hard Light in the edit section of Davinci. To make the hula hoop more intense in its luminousity I stapled the same layer on top of one another, four times. I remember your 35-70 video, had super beautiful greens in it:) Have four FDs, the 50mm 1.4 I almost never used, 28mm most of the time, got a 20mm 2.8 like brandnew. Still hestitating to use that beauty cuz of possible scratches. I know it is silly to feel like that:) Oh, and a beautiful, beautiful 28-85mm F4 from Tokina- Andy Lee tip, read about it, bought it.
  6. Hey Grimor, nice footage, especially the parts with the beautiful diffuse light from the front. The lens rendering, the movements look very beautiful! Sometimes Luts produce some lack of luminousity and vibrance and lacking a few nuances of tones as seen at 0.59 or 1.06. Other than that your piece is a good example of the sublte use of it. Around 2.00 looks very beautiful! Also, movement looks really nice. Would love to see what people can do with a GX80 or G70. For both cameras there is not so much footage out there, esp. when compared to GH2 or GH4. G6 is a rather rare beast too on vimeo, most of it graded in a very muted style.
  7. You rascal:) Thank you very much, Merce! My favs are the first lady´s skintones. I was really exited to discover those. Some kind of thickness finally for some daylight skintones. Architecture, landscapes, foliage look nice most of the time on the Pannys. Thanks again, the editing was a lot of fun too. Its pretty cool to have a chinabooster and counteract that with the Extele mode. Also I unashmingly zoomed in big time in post for some parts of the hoola hoop. Great to have some cool talks again! Exited that you purchased a XC10! Tier 1 HD, true clean HD with CLOG, awesome!
  8. Hey Grimor, thanks for helping out with the great rigging infos before, by the way! Great knowledge for me as a rigging novice! Skintones and hoola hoop are different settings, I don´t know which one I used first. I figured the M9 part to get away from green. Did that to an extreme in order to be able to witness an extreme effect when grading later on. So either setting for late afternoon sommer sun and 7000K temperature. It isinteresting how light´s color and temperature change delicately but with substanstial effect for video (at least non raw consumer video that is), that with changing position, movement of clouds and so on. In Davinci one major part is to sculpt some threedimensionalty out of the image, doing that with luma and the three r g b color curves. That is quiet important besides color correction, adjustment of saturation lead by luma, hue, etc. Curves made the differences for my grade, saying curves, because different curves interact and counteract in the way with the most beneficial effect to the image. The A3G3 and/or A3M9 might just provide some beautiful extra color nuances and balance for to do so more successfully. I got a hold of it in the GX80 thread, which became a quiet extensive collection of interesting knowledge or assumptions. Kudos to the posters I mentioned above.   9. Hallo video afficiandos! I recently read about @Inazuma´s and @John Matthews´ A3G3 for the GX80 and GX7 in the GX80 thread and @jase´ examples as well. I did some filming with this and another setting about three weeks ago. I´m kind of a Panny fan and have been enjoying the great value I´m getting out of my G6 I bought about a year ago. It was my first step into digital. So when I bought my Panny G6 last April due to bushman films and Andy Lee on Andrew´s forum, I had high expectations. I was exited about the nice HD footage the G6 let me shoot. Bought an editing machine with a 2nd generatoin I7 2600K- great value for starters one year ago. Now of the sudden I had this digi tech at my hands coming from SVHS-C camcorders when I was a teen. Just that Panasonic colors didn´t seem that awesome to me, rather just okay. Last fall I got my hands onto Davinci and a GTX970 and got myself started into the joys of messing around with video color. The G6 held a few surprises for me. I´m surprised by the color "hidden" in that 24mbps 24p codec and even the 28mbps for 50p. A friend of mine wanted me to test some slomo, if codec would hold up for 50p, if she could use Panny Slomo for a kind of a Ballhaus effect for her project. So there is no plotline here. All handheld, with a 28mm FD, WB at 7000K with A3G3 and some A3M9, harsh sun at 4-6pm. Some hoolahoop parts are shot in Extele and the closest framing is an additional larger percentage zoomed in with Davinci. So now I would like to share my share I got out of the Panasonic colors.

Or being imagined or fantasized within:) A quote to underline great causes but evil conduct as well. We did okay in the scamming matter, so in that context Zak used an okay fitting quote to say so:)
  11. Great community, some cool threads and topics going on today, strong as ever! For instance, to me it is clear, great ergonomy/handling makes me wanna shoot. I´m in camera class, so good vibes and good ideas make me wanna shoot as well. Not matter if its a miniDV or G6 or EX1 or some kick ass cam, ergonomy and crew are trump, story comes after that:) Same here, crew is trump, content comes from these talents! I would love to have more disussion and exchange evolving around shooting and creating films. Love quick n dirty (run n gun) exercises of one or various aspects of filming and this and that and this and that.. Unfortunately a forum site´s interface fengshui never seems to lurk people into the screening room sections, myself included :/ On vimeo I search for vids finding cool stuff but never engage in communication. Can´t we have both? That is a hot-buttoned issue right here, don´t you think, Ed, just a joyful one!:) cheers

Surely looks pretty!:) So underneath one would screw the baseplate then to have the rods, the lenssupport, ffocus and possibilitiy to put it on an awesome tripod, right? @Fritz Pierre Right now I will be going for the cheap but not cheesy route:) But once I´m rich and famous I gonna rig my G6 up with a helicopter:) EDIT: Wow, that would make a nice quote. This forum is really a source of inspiration to me! With a GX80 and a good rig it should be possible to have a smooth transition from shoulder work to super free hand camera aperatus stuff. So first I want a rig I can love as much as my cam or makes me love my cam much, much more. Great ergos are so important. That´s why a fried of mine still shoots with his two mini DV camcorders. That leads me to a topic I should post some time- the look of 3 CCDs, Yeah, this forum is giving me joy again! Thanks, you guys!

Camera looks promising. Worth renting over the weekend I´d say, even if it would just be for the 1080p 422. So is CLOG also available in HD format? Hey merce, happy to type in the friendly and ordinary Eoshd area again:) Friend of mine loves his mini DV camcorders for their handling and their 3 CCDs. Just the interlacing...:) In the vid I posted in the thread about the 8mm digilook we filmed with four diferent cams, two mini DV cams and two photocams- I dare myself to call my own camera just a photocam- it´s a G6, darn!:)

I numbered them 1,2,3:) Looking beautiful, and I guess number 2 is a lenssupport. Where did you get that one from?   16. @andy lee, always saving stuff you´re recommending in my favorites. Problem is, I´m losing my overview:) Bought the Tokina 28-85 F4.0 you recommended for the parfocal and non breathing attributes and its look. My sample changes focus though a little bit when zooming out, otherwise it is in new condition, such a beauty that I almost don´t wanna use it. It is very heavy and the mount of my Panny G6 is bending with it and my FD adapter. So keeping that gini rig in my favorites now with the tokina 2870, the canon fd 3570 and 35105.. I´m a total novice to rigging and stuff like baseplates and such. Do you have a simple setup with baseplate, and lenssupport for the tokina? On your shooting BTS with the glorious g7 i have a hard time to specify the brands or even the detail how the lenssupports look like. Oh, budget friendly solutions are welcome:) Planning a short in a theatre, problem is I got my camera crew and plenty light to rent for free of charge, but director wants to change the script and producer is shy to organize things, no casting yet neither, filming scheduled for second half of august. Considering a solidly rigged GX80 or G70 with the Tokina and adequate lenssupport and my treasure FD20mm, all on a FD chinabooster.   17. Hallo Mattias, How does it go with your LS300? Some night JLog footage on youtube looked pretty solid at higher ISOs. How about the 120fps? Maybe I should just rent this baby! Should be fun! @Ehetyz, how is the external monitoring, via SDI only but otherwise hasslefree? Is the 2.5K mode in raw only or also available in Prores and does 1080p involve an additional crop from 2.5K? Did you have overheating issues with it? Thanks and cheers

Also enjoyed @Justin Bacle´s post about the Lomo anamorphic lens and his footage in the anamorphic section. I think it is awesome, once a certain level of IQ is reached (GH2,3,4 G6/7, AF100 levels) it comes to ergonomy and the pure joy of shooting and lighting and creating stuff it is causing. By the way, you and me have been typing about profiles for G6 and your GH3. Would like to see some of your stuff you shot with it in Natural profile, if that is possible. I posted a link of my G6 test footage back then. cheers

That is of course meant by the notion of authorities, that the scammed either decide to use legal procedure and involve police and authorities of the legal system or to find another way of dealing with the matter and the doer of the scam, who and how many and under what photographic appearance he/she/they might be. So, its up to the scammed victims to decide within the legal boundries and/or their will and successful ability to negotiate with the scamming person(s). It is NOT up to anybody else on this forum to initiate web2.0 contacts of the person believed to have the alias of EbarhimS. And this is not only about the scam victims nor the scammer. This is Andrew´s forum, not anybodys communicational infrastructure to planning out a web2.0 campaign.

So thanks and Likes as well are highly welcome:) Would you like to post a trailer of the film you guys shot on that Red? Always cool to see stuff. Myself I´m still shooting with my G6. Where are you from? Asking, because renting can be super cheap in certain parts of the world, in others it might not be possible as others have pointed out. Coming from the ES post I start to appreciate the benefits of nettiquette a lot more now:) cheers

I do not feel like screaming it through the vast number of posts. It is not a pleasure I want to learn to find. Anyway, leaving it to the authorities is the legally right procedure in this regards matter, involving the account ES, the scam victims, the forum posters and not least of all Andrew! Andrew suggested that as well to leave it to authorities!

It is Andrew´s place, not anybody elses forum to plan out activities against internet criminals! Andrew is working hard on filming, he cannot chim in at the moment, so let´s respect that and behave in consequence of that like guests in his house, not like operators of large scale web2.0 operations. If people wish to do so, they should use their own communication channels. @andy lee Do you follow my logic above? Though I´d leave that to the authorities as well!!!

Point is, I feel to have a kind of obligation to post in this thread and I don´t like that. Point is, I feel to have to quote myself, which I do like, for the matter of content and a certain humerous flavour. So, it is possible the kid on the photos and on web2.0 with his community is not the poster but a victim of ID theft. Reaching out to his community would destroy an innocent person. If poster and scammer are the same person, there is no hurry to fullfill desires of penalty. So either ways, don´t contact the circle of friends. Contact authorities. Said that before, but not willing to quote myself again. Paraphrasing myself from my earlier post: I call him Bobby since the days he´s been calling me Marty. cheers, Marty
  24. Out of cam it´s not giving me satisfying color just yet. I love this little cam though. I shoot Natural with everything on -2 but color on 0. I suggest manual White Balance rather than adjusting numbers of Kelvin manually. I recently also tried to adjust my White Balance within the G6 to values A3 and G3 as John has suggested in the Panasonic GX80 thread on this forum. The thing is, in my opinion a lot of beautiful color is "hidden" in that codec. You can achieve that color in Davinci and other software with usage of saturation of R G B channels separately or in combination, luma and chroma curve in combination or separately. These are very strong tools. Any other tools are just different visualizaitions of the same parameters. cheers Hey Tweak! yes, it felt really like from the place of fanatasy/cinema. So 4:3 mode is not further cropping the 4K image to the sides?- Lemme google quickly for pixel resolution- 3328x2496 pixels (Panasonic website, Firmware 2.2) Is that cropped or pixel binned (or whatever:) from the width of 4086 pixels? If cropped, it would be a 1.23 crop factor in the x- axis of the sensors 4K resolution, so making the 4K 2.25 crop a 2.76 crop (1.23*2.25)? So a 28mm taking lens would have the same FOV like a 39mm lens on a full frame photo cam (f.i. 5D or D800) in the X- axis: 28mm * 2.76 (4:3 sensor crop- 3328 of 4096 pixels of x-axis) : 2 (2x stretch of the anamorphic) = 28mm * 2.76 : 2 = 38.6mm OR 28mm * 2.25 :2 = 31.5mm ? cheers By the way, I like the grading. Basic showing of the raw power of beautiful RAW!:)
