  1. I think that jerkyness ir probably because people dont know how to set the shutter speed/export, havent noticed any problem with motion yet. The camera is quite amazing, IQ quality is quite stellar, I will be making a video today on an exhibition and then ill share with you guys. I really think this is the most underated camera out there at the moment, if you're a video guy.
  2. Im in Portugal and using camera in NTSC, Ill try changing and see if it affects anything...
  3. Hey everyone, I got my adapter for the NX1 this week, and have been trying the camera out, I gotta say, the 4k is wonderfull, incredibly detailed, and with the right settings, it looks cinematic right off the camera. But i've been encountering an issue, with indoor lights, I cant seem to take the light flicker off...even if at 30fps, 50fps or wtv speed I choose. On my Canon 600D, if I was at 30fps, 50 or 150 I wouldnt have this issue. Am I doing anything wrong ?
  4. Drop saturation to -3 as well, thats where I get the best results, but if you wont do any pp, then just fiddle with the settings until you like what you see.
  5. Hi all, As some of you may know, I recently bought an NX1 (havent tried it yet, still waiting for adapters), and im investing most of my money in gear...Lens wise, im pretty much set, with a few Samyang and Sigma Art lenses, though they are great lenses, I want to go a step further into the cinema look. That obviously means going into anamorphic lens/adapters. So, what do you guys recommend, any specific lens or adapter ? I've been checking around ebay and theres prices ranging from 100-800€, so I really am lost on what I should get/investigate. Any help would be very appreciated
  6. Just like the Nx1, it charges by USB (like a phone), you can even use one of those external powerbanks as a charger (I hear thats a popular choice). I too have my Nx1 in the box and can only fiddle with menus until my adapter for my canon lenses arrive, but it does feel quite good, and ergonomically, fits perfectly in my hands.
  7. Andrew, could you do a comparison between RX100 MKIV/RX 10II and Nx1 ? It seems that would be a great article
  8. Where did you see any comparison between sharpness on the rx100iv vs Nx1 ? I would actually love to see those two together and see how they compare, I may be needing a B camera soon, and would like to know if they could do better tha nx500.
  9. NX1 is your best choice, 4k 30fps, 1080p @ 120fps with great quality ! This was one of the reasons I got mine, though havent tested it yet.
  10. I do believe having expensivier gear will send out a dif. message than with cheap gear, regardless of the quality. I've been working professionally with a Canon 600D, and have plenty of works, but I have lost works because I didnt have 4k for instance. Where I live, fortunately, most clients dont know about camera brands (i'd be surprised if anyone knew what a Red epic was), they care more about resolution (hence my NX1 aquisition). I think a good photographer/videographer can make amazing works, even with cheap gear, but I cant stop feeling bad, when Im at a wedding and see people with the same camera as me, even though I dont use kit lenses.
  11. Great work, This is what I thought too, that it could come very close after color corrected, this just shows the incredible potential on this lovely little monster. Its without a doubt the best piece of equipment out there for the price range, yet its very very underated...alongside the people I know that are into photography/video, almost nobody knows about the camera or simply ignore it because of the "Samsung" name on the front.
  12. Great little side by side, i'd love to see crops and a more detailed comparison. What lens did you use on both ?! Colors on the 1Dc are trully amazing, detail wise seems to be on-par (maybe sharper on the Nx1 ?!), and DR obviously the 1Dc is quite ahead. The Nx1, from what I hear, is closer to the look of RED than canon, i'd love to see how it would stand against a Red Epic or Dragon. But basically you've said it all, for the price, the NX1 is unbeatable and quite a wonderfull machine (mine is still in the box, waiting for canon adapters the pain is real ) Edit : Forget my post, Im reading the full article right now -.-
  13. Still for the low 3500£ you can get an Nikon D800+NX1/GH4/a7s or any other sort of combination, which in the real world would make much more sense, at least thats what i'd think. Every Canon cinema camera is, in my opinion, overpriced and simply outdated, they are great tools and deliver great results, but still overpriced.
  14. The Nx1 has higher resolution stills (although 1.5x crop), 15fps burst, 120fps, incredible 4k (which I doubt would be much worst, considering its downsampled from 6.5k), incredible dif. in file size, Super Amoled screen, EVF, and costs what ?! 4 times less ?! The 1Dc is a great camera, but just like others, I dont think it justifies for the price, FS7 would be a wiser choice.
  15. I could name just as much as the NX1 destroys the 1DC.
  16. Do we need new hardware to edit H.265 at all, or any decent CPU can work, though not optimal ?!
  17. My camera arrived today Cant say how thrilled I am to try it (still waiting for the adapters to arrive though), but first impressions are, the camera is really small...I was expecting it to be near the size of the 7D, but its slightly slimmer than my 600D. Construction wise looks sturdy and that screen looks amazing. Cant wait to test my Samyang lenses on this beauty !
  18. Finally bought them, some great stuff in there How do you use them in Vegas ? I cant find a way to use LUTs in Vegas.
  19. Is this an all edit software, or color grading only ?
  20. Hi everyone, I've always used Vegas for video editing, its light, easy, fast and responsive, it works great (+ stabilization is fast and works great usually)! Previously I used to color correct in Lightroom, export the footage and then import and start editing in Vegas, but lately i've been trying Luts, and found some that I really love. Problem is, cant use Luts in vegas (or am I missing something ?), I tried searching for plugins, utilities, everything and cant find a single thing. So the alternative seems to be to switch to premiere, I've been trying CC, but its painfully slow and makes the whole editing process such a headache. So, is there any stand alone app that I can use for color grading alone (like Lightroom), or anyway I can use Vegas for editing/something else coloring ? As a last resort I can switch to another editing software if it justifies, but needs to be light and responsive.
  21. I've been playing the "next camera" waiting game for a year, I was certain I wanted the GH4, but after closer inspection, had I purchased it, I wouldnt have liked it as much as I wanted. After checking some Raws a user here has sent me, Im totally confident the NX1 is a more than capable camera in stills, and videowise its still one of the best out there at an affordable price. I dont expect the camera to last 5 years, but worst case scenario, I want a capable camera in 2-3 years time, that has the raw power needed to make semi professional videos.
  22. Thats the only reason Im jumping to 4k, some customers have asked it as well, but the main reason is reframing/crop in, its a real great feature to have.
  23. My budget for camera is 1,5k the other 1k is for a new capable desktop to help with the editing.
  24. I follow you, hence my hesitation and inclusion of the 5DM3, I fear the NX1 look would be too "digital", with oversharpening and over saturation, but with the new firmware updates, it seems all of that is gone, and it seems easy to grade. The look/grade im looking for is something like this : Detail preservation is good, so is color grading, but where I live, and my market place, some people care about resolution, or need high resolutions. I have lost jobs for not having 4k, and they would hire someone with some crappy camcorder that did 4k and be left with a terrible job. For my 1080p is still great, but having that extra detail preservation can be essencial in some types of works (architectural for example).
  25. I can see it 4k. Maybe the user settings were over saturated and what not, but its way too early to see, and this could totally be fake, it really doesnt correspond to what sony showed us.
