That sounds like a very capable and future proof monitor and/or recorder.

I do mean the buttons... They do not appear to be labels. Power button is misaligned, as is SSD and LUT button. And if this is a pre-production model surely they're had time to go over it? And since no-one outside of Kinefinity has handle this unit at the time of this shooting, why should anything be less than perfect? I'll remain skeptical until I see evidence to prove this product will be reliable.
Its just the caps, if the "Buttons where misaligned" I would expect them to not sit in a straight line from one another. The top part of pretty much any button is just a labled cap that is put on last. Either its snapped or glued in the wrong orientation or it might spin. Who knows, but the important parts of the buttons are on a straight line. So its a super easy fix for them that require zero engineering knowledge.
Yes, I think its very obvious to everyone that you are very very skeptical and one might even say against this camera
Me, I will stick to not judging for or against until I've used it myself. -

The labels, it looks cheap.Personally I wouldn't mind.
Ahh, I thought he meant the buttons. Nah wouldn't bother me either, Im sure the caps can be straighten out. Most likely Pre-Production model anyway.

Why are the buttons crooked? Yes some might call this nitpicky, but if QC let something so obviously visible slip through... somethings that is external and would clearly be noticed, then one had to wonder what defects slipped pass QC on the interior of the camera.
Imo, if you're showing up to play you should bring your A-game. This looks sloppy and makes me question their QC.
Mind giving a time code on that? Cant see it.

It will be big for vloggers because its newer than the 70d. In a near future the 70d is no more. So the new vloggers cant choose it, instead they have the 80d.

I am seriously interested in this camera. Does it make sense to use Panasonic lenses with lens image stabilizer, or the Olympus will do fine?
Do EF lenses have autofocus? I guess metabones adapters and the such will do the trick a la GH4 style?
I am trying to find a reason not to buy it, but with such a reduced price it seems like the only option!
Do you have any comment between the JVC and the FS5?
Cheers.
For everything over 50mm I would use IS for handheld. 50mm and under is ok.
EF autofocus works nice. Watch my test video.
Never used an fs5 so I cant tell you.

Because the WB\actual colour\actual brilliance\ISO noise can not be see on a ovf,you have to rely on the LCD.
Without LCD, a DSLR is useless~But if only using the lcd ,you can still take pics, that is the difference, that is why film cameras were dead
What you seeing is what you get, that is why digtal images are popular. That is why I believe the mirriorless is the future,DSLR is really dying, just a matter of time~
Guess it depends. I have no need to see the WB when taking stills. But we are all different. And I mostly use film for stills.
Imo the lack of an ovf is a bad thing. The evf is just a screen, but smaller.
If the DSLR is dying, its going slowly. They need to step up the game first.

I never use anything accept the "eye" preview in the finder. Never needed any player the last 6 years. Hope it will continue like so.

DSLRs require users know how to measure exposure through a OVF ,which requires skills and may fails sometimes,so I wonder how long DSLRs can last when people get use to taking pics by looking a lcd instead of a OVF
Do you mind explaining this because I use both a DSLR and Mirrorless and I dont agree at all.
In what way does a DSLR require more skill?

The new Blackmagic stuff always gets presented the Sunday before (posters at the booth) witch means its the first thing I see online when I wake up tomorrow
I hope for my new B-cam. Otherwise I will use the bmpcc or 5dmkiii for another year.
But one rumor I really hope is true, is the Sony a9.
Currently Im totally burned on Sony. Im not buying anything else from them untill they redesign from the start. I sold my rx100iv today and it feels good.
But if the a9 is true and shoot raw, I will totally give them a chance. I want a B-cam for Raw, Lowlight, stills and, I know it sounds stupid, wifi. I use wifi every single day to send photos.
If Blackmagic releases something I want its probably 6 months away and I still need something for stills. Last NAB they didnt release anything I wanted. The two years before they did. So its a 50/50.

For gods sake people. He makes hundereds of LUTs in all shapes and forms. Its a matter of adjusting them. I dont care if its Deluts or Impulz, you have to adjust in post or expose for them in order to get them in the styles you want

I have a 70d and immediately wonder why people are saying "Oh this will be so popular for v-loggers". The 70d was what, chopped liver? Same body and same basic function. No log mode,
Because most vlogers dont use Log, or MF, or CC.
They do however use SDOF, AF and selfie screens.
-
Agreed, they are great for S-Log.

Had hoped someone could clarify the Mystery (pun intended)
about the missing XLR-inputs on RED's cameras , but perhaps
this shall be revealed soon enough . In the meantime I feel
like celebrating Mark Twain for his wisdom of mankind ...The Red One MX has solid and locking mini XLR connections that provide nice audio from a regular XLR mic. No mystery.

Well, you wrote "The Digital Bolex was just two people with a dream." On http://www.digitalbolex.com/about/, it says: "Digital Bolex is joint venture between Bolex International, S.A. and Cinemeridian, Inc., founded in 2011 to develop the Digital Bolex project." The CEOs of Cinemeridian (http://www.ienso.com/cinemeridian) are not the two people you are referring to. And Bolex International S.A. is a Swiss company.
I know all that, but that page did not exists two days before the launch of Digital Bolex on Kickstarter.
Its like me saying "look at canon.com, thats how they started". -

Well, that's the marketing story. In reality, a bigger company (Ienso/Cinemeridian, http://www.digitalcameradesign.com/) had been behind the project from its very beginning.
Exactly, there is nothing that says that this isn't the same case.
We will have to wait, and I suspect thats the whole idea behind the campaign, they know people hate to wait. -
BTW, how do you figure 1000 adapters. Just put an EF on there and leave it. Voila you have an EF camera.
But if its an EF bolted to the camera it just means less lenses to choose from.

Well, I don't think so, adapters are a pain in the ass.
You dont even need adapters. Plenty of m4/3 cover s35 (all rokkinon for example) and there are plenty of nice m4/3 lenses. Adapters and speedboosters is just another option/tool.
Sony have understod it. They use a short flange for s35 and FF. And it seems popular.
But since Sony doesnt allow other companys to use the E-Mount, MFT on s35 remains the best, most versitile and least painful lens/sensor combo imo.

I think the marketing campaign is working. People are wagging their tongues and fingertips about this mystery newcomer.
Even though a lot of the discussions are harshly negative, the talk is still going on and people seem frustrated that they don't know what the product is. The irritation comes from a need for information.
I love having new makers of camera around to rustle a few feathers. Everybody deserves a chance. Judge when the product is in your own hands.
Yup, its not even that extreme.
In the 80s a company started to advertise like crazy is sweden with just 4 random letters. Didnt even tell what undustry it was. Could have been a restaurant, shoes, you name it. Turned out to be a line of cruise ships.
That campain is still refered to in marketing today as a success.

So does every other campaign on the planet. Nothing uniqe for this strategy.

no built in NDs, no XLRs or phantom power, expensive accessories and... A world class image. <<Ok then I dont agree. The Red One MX has great Phantompowered XLR-connections and accessories are cheap as chips.

But when people use FUD - Fear/Uncertainty/Doubt - as strategy before launching the products, in a campaign aimed at customers to place deposits
I find it is like shooting Yourself in the foot . I bet this will turn many more away, than attract some - don't You agree that it looks "Nigeriean-style" ?They say from the beginning that you will get the info you need on monday. No one is forcing anyone to pay anything.
No I dont agree that all Nigerian companies are chriminal.
We will know in a years time if they have made money. Then we know if it was a smart move.

You dont know their plan = you dont know if its good or bad.
The only thing that will measure the effect of their comunication is the cash left after expenses on the company's account. We can only wait and see.
To most eyes Blackmagics comunication is strange. Goes against most PR practice and theory. Still they are doing allright both among amateurs and Hollywood. And their users swear by the quality.
James Miller deLUTS are awesome

I have had lots of 4K cameras and even 4K Raw cameras and the screen to watch it. And I agree. As soon as you put it on youtube you might as well upscale HD. Same goes for Vimo. And as pointed out, TV is 720p at best.
DR and color is much more important to make an audience like it.
And reframing isnt my thing either. Ive done it on for example an interview where the space was to cramed for two cameras. So yes it can be a life saver. But for me its an emergency tool, not SOP.
All IMO of course.
