Tungsten vs LED... umm, like always it depends on workflows... cableless mobility and low heat are the big ones for me (my tungsten lights are rotting in the cupboard). LED cri is up there now, and running something like an Aputure 120T on a V-lock battery makes a lot of sense to me. The days of... hiding cables/ endless sauna sessions/ wearing gloves all the time/ having someone at the fusebox/ using generators... are over, and I don't miss them at all. Higher price seems like the only true "Con" for the latest LEDs, but I think they worth every penny. That's my two cents.

The AE lever on the C/Y lens doesn't fit properly with the EF mount BMPCC speed booster.  They need to be filed down to fit, check out this thread on BMCuser about it:

You can definitely hear it, I would say It's as loud as a Macbook Pro. If you get in a less than a meter range, a condenser mic could pick it up. Out of that range you should be fine.

I recommend trying this option out first... Using a (decent) tripod head as a handle, It feels nicely balanced and it's easy to pull focus with your other hand... I use it like this all the time

They do deliver... I've had my eye on these for some time, was just waiting for the "plus" version (with V-mount plate).

So my original plan here was to use the sunlight from the window as a key, and the 120t as a fill. Unfortunately it started raining so I had to use the 120t as the key, and use a white board as the fill bounce. It's really bright and definitely needs some diffusion with faces b/c of the hard shadows. My favorite 2 things are the dimmer and the running temperature. It runs cool the whole time and you can pick it up to store as soon as you shut it off. Hopefully the daylight version will be out soon!

Just got my 120t. Definitely brighter that the LS1. Shooting with it this Thursday and will post some pics.

@John Emery I just spent the morning messing with the files in FCPX/Color Finale and FilmConvert... And the latitude is simply astonishing. I can now see what all the hype is about 10bit color and high DR.
I was planning on keeping my G7 for more run and gun applications, but the IQ with the micro is so next level... I may just sell the G7. And I think once I rig this a little more efficiently, the micro could be a fine run and gun camera, in it's own right.

I really dig the noise of the Micro, and every day I like this cam a bit more. I was decided on the 4.6K Mini, and was just holding back because of the magenta issues... but I must say I'm in no hurry right now. And if I don't see something that trueIy blows me away from the Mini soon, I think I'm getting a 2nd Micro/speedbooster instead.

So, I had my first full day with the micro and... Wow it really is a fun camera. It is a little cumbersome using a small rig and the buttons are hard to push but the image is just amazing. It seems like you can underexpose, overexpose or nail the exposure and you have a lot to work with in post. And the colors... Nice.

Obviously not the most amazing images in the world, but for a first time out with it... I am pleased.

I would say it is, blended with other genres (a crime thriller/ drama), and with some good character development (similar to "The professional")... muscle & brains mix well.
And if it isn't action, I would say it's got one of the best action scenes ever filmed.
I agree Jonesy, Matrix is right up there too... and it's also a mix.

I don't really know, but today I charged around 9 LP-E6s (don't know if they were all completely empty), and it's still got 1/4 of it's charge left. So it's more than enough as a backup.

It's hard to find aftermarket batteries without mixed reviews. But I've got 6 "Chillipower" bats and they all work fine...

When it comes to chargers I love these little guys, small and quite fast...

You can buy a cheap external battery and charge your LP-E6s anywhere...

    1. Two lp-e6 batteries give me around 2 hours on my 7" Must HD.
    2. Yes, there's audio levels, but you have to get in to menu to change settings (a BIG pain). I use a Sennheiser MKE 400 (on high gain), and set the levels of the BMMCC to auto if I want some usable audio.
    3. Nope, but ProRes has loads of Info baked in, so you can change it after. Just make sure you get the WB right.
    4. Dunno exactly, because I tend to mix 60p and 24p all the time (on a 128Gb card). But around 45-50' I suppose.
    5. Dunno.

I had it, and it's terrible compared to other options!! It is a smart design but poorly executed. Mine didn't flip properly (half of the time the image staid upside down) and they didn't answer to my emails. And it's really low res (I got a MustHD and the difference was huge). I would get a Aputure FineHD V2 if I was buying now, best bang for buck if you don't want a recorder and you like big monitors.
    This is my setup...

Attaching the mini plate to the monitor makes the setup fast and easy and it all fits in a small cheap Amazon camera bag.

The best thing is that when you block the tripod head (Mantona 18008) that holds the monitor (MustHD) it's feels like a handle, and it's quite comfy to hold with one hand and pull focus with the other. It's like holding an inverse Bolex D16... I really like it!
All I need is a cage to protect the cameras HDMI input.

It's possible that since it's new, everyone is trying to show off the DR and the super polished/clean look. I don't think it would be hard at all to make it cinematic. There's a lot of things that make a shot cinematic such as lighting but you could crush the hell out of the contrast and add some grain. Desaturate a little bit. Use a Tiffen Digital Diffusion filter. I may try to rough it up a bit for a test soon.
