  1. from 0:00 to 1:34 is the T3i, and 1:40 to 13:59 is the Pocket, then it goes back to the t3i from 14:00 until 17:30. I graded all the pocket cinema camera footage with Neumann luts "The Halfling profile" As a final render I upscaled everything to 4k and uploaded to youtube. So for best viewing results 4k is your best bet as it does benefit quite a bit with youtube compression. Let me know what you think
  2. Thanks! The sound isn't "out of sync" on the hammer scene but may appear that way due to a low end bass eco added to make the hits sound larger. Settings for all the desert scenes were gamma DR -5 contrast, -5 sharpness -5 black level, - 2 saturation. Dinner scenes were all the same except sharpness was at -10 which actually looks better IMO. I only used a polarizer on the scene filming through the windshield towards the end. I used a film stock lut as the baseline and modified it. I don't have it currently on hand and don't remember the specific one. Thanks! and thank you too! right? Haha XD and thanks for watching!
  3. The first of several short films I shot on the NX1. Let me know what you think
  4. I have been looking all over the internet on how to get rid of 8 bit color banding and came across 2 programs. One is "Deband - Sapphire VFX" but costs like $1,200 and then there's "PHYX Cleaner" with right now is only $49. My only question is if anyone has used it before and if its actually legit? Does its De banding plug-in feature actually work? Thanks!
  5. Price went back up in America. its at its original $1,499 now.
  6. They just need to higher Vincent Laforet again!
  7. I figured I give it a go and tested out a color grade after converting to 10 bit 4:4:4. Here is the results.
  8. I'll check this out on some nx1 footage when I get home.
  9. There's been many films shot on an 8 bit 420 codec that ended up looking fantastic on the big screen! Take Act Of Valor, or Like Crazy for example! Both features shot on canon dslr. Not to mention a lot of scenes in whiplash, and the avengers were shot on dslrs. I honestly think 8bit 420 is perfectly fine if you don't plan on grading too much.
  10. Nx1's highlights are much much better! Only because of the nice pleasing roll off When actually optimizing it for maximum DR.
  11. I've used both a c100 and an nx1. I'll just say that to me personally the dynamic rand is definitely close! I honestly didn't see that much of a difference at all in Dr on the nx1. I'll also add that the nx1 is a great camera that'd I'd personally choose to shoot on over a c100 or c300 at this point.
  12. I believe samsung has what it takes to take the market. I give it 5 years until samsung owns the world.
  13. It's in the actual footage unfortunately. I usually do effects in 32 bit anyway in sony vegas pro 13 and after effects. But the 4k footage from my Samsung NX1 looks amazing but has a lot of banding in indoor scenes With blank walls. I just wish VLC had a video plug in for editing softwares so I could actually remove the banding.
  14. Is there any known ways of getting rid of 8bit banding? I've tried adding noise and all that stuff but no luck. I know in VLC player they have an effect called "Remove Banding" and it actually works perfectly in real time! But is there a way to figure out what exactly VLC is doing and how can I replicate it so my footage is banding free? Thanks in advance.
  15. There's barely any aliasing or moire at all. Just convert the clips to 1080p or 720p to match your display then judge the amount of aliasing or moire. From my experience there's is none!
  16. I'm also very interested in what smart phone j.f.r. is talking about! Haha! From my experience the NX1 is incredible! and Mattias Love your footage! BTW.
  17. Here is another short test using the Samsung NX1. Here I was just seeing how the camera handles in daylight. This camera continues to surprise me in every aspect! I really do believe this could easily be utilized as an A cam on a feature production. Lens used is the Samsung 45mm f1.8 2d/3d lens.
  18. NX1! Definitely NX1! If you don't care about transcododing the h.265 (which doesn't take that long) then there is basically no con to getting the NX1! I'm shocked with how pleasing/amazing the image quality is. The image to me feels like a Canon C500 in 4k Or a Red Epic! It's incredible!
  19. Also because my stuff never got seen on vimeo and got 50,000 views on youtube. Haha
  20. I stopped using vimeo years ago.. The playback and quality is just to poor for my standards..
  21. I honestly think DSLRS are great for films. Look at the season 6 finale of House! It was shot on a 5d and looks incredible!! Same with Act Of Valor!! That was a bug budget Hollywood movie shot 90% on 5d's. If a Canon 7D can be used to make features like "Like Crazy" then an NX1 should be perfectly usable at 4k! Hollywood movies use expensive cameras because they are better in different ways. It's going to be much easier to make an arri Alexa look like a movie than it will for a NX1 so Hollywood of course will use the best there is. But if you know what you're doing the NX1 can be used as a story telling tool just as much as a red can. It'll take more work but for the price I wouldn't mind working a bit harder.
