  1. Don't get your hopes up too much about that bitrate. There is still a lot of macro blocking in the footage. You can download footage off their website to have a closer look.
  2. Yi is making moves here. 2017 is starting to become the year of 4K 60fps and I love it! I noticed something weird with their footage though. Cyan coloured vignette appears after some colour grading: Looks like a lens issue.
  3. I love what I'm seeing from the GH5. 4K 60FPS <3 Thanks for sharing these awesome images with us Luke!
  4. Yeah, I'm an idiot. All the camera setting were reset after the firmware update and the LCD auto brightness was set to ON. Plus, I think on a previous shoot I used a Samsung lens in shutter priority mode, so that might have explained some of the exposure drift issues. Couldn't replicate it anymore with the correct setting now, so fingers crossed it was just an operator error. Thanks for the help guys!
  5. Anyone else experience the dreaded exposure drift on the NX1 with the latest firmware? They seamed to have had it fixed in update 1.21 and this was not an issue anymore but after updating to 1.41 it seams to be acting up again and I can't get rid of it. (yes, everything is in manual mode, manual/analog lenses, etc.) Looking forward to hear your experiences. Maybe I have a bad installation and would need to try re-installing? I hope that Samsung didn't screw us over on this last update... Is there a way to downgrade to an older firmware otherwise?
  6. Correct me if Im wrong, but that still needs a recorder unit, no?

    GoPro Karma

Kinda feel bad for GoPro. They cannot catch a break. Let's see how fast they'll be able to fix the issue and if the will secretly add some new features to compete with DJI.
  8. It really is hard to beat the performance of a Mac & FCPX. It's just much more optimised, even on the "slow" Macbook 12" :
  9. I have to say that I noticed that a lot of Youtubers have been switching to FCPX as well, thanks to it's overall speed and workflow. (MKDHD (using RED Weapon), Jonathan Morrison (using FS7)). It's just a more optimised bit of software compared to Premiere and I love it for that. Also, if you where to pixel peep, the H.264 exports on FCPX definitely look better than Premiere's. So it's superior there as well. If only it would offer support for H.265 file editing.
  10. Just an FYI, the latest Hero 4 update gives you the linear mode off the new Hero 5 on your 2 year old GoPro as well. Available at 2.7k and 1080p resolutions. https://gopro.com/update/hero4
  11. "Dear Apple, Please implement native H.265 support in FCPX so that I can go back to your awesome editor. Sincerely yours, An NX1 owner."

    GoPro Karma

Well...it kind of was to be expected that the Karma wouldn't be as stable in the air or have all the flying features DJI has developed over the years. But the point where GoPro totally dropped the ball imo is by not having improved the codec and overall IQ over the 2 year old GoPro 4... That was the one thing they had going for themselves and they chose to leave it completely untouched..shame.
  13. Having used the BM pocket camera and NX1 I would say that the NX1 is a much more versatile camera thanks to the 4K, and 60 & 120 fps in 1080p. The slo mo is great for so many occasions, from action shots to immersive closeups. And the 4K single camera interview setting gives you the ability to intercut and crop the shot to look like you are shooting with two cameras. Plus the small file sizes and long battery life (you can charge it on the go with a USB power bank) make it a much nicer run and gun camera if you are out there all day. The main thing BM has going for it is the gradability of the files (both Prores and raw) which give you much more room to play around with before braking up. Like Mattias said, it really depends on what you want to shoot. Two very different cameras imo.
  14. Thanks Shane. The transition is the "Swish pan" from Red Giant Universe. Lens are the Samyang 85mm, Samsung kit lens 16-50 PZ and Tokina 11-16mm.
  15. Here is my latest NX1 edit. Including the dreaded exposure shift issue seen in the first shot... The majority was shot in 1080p 60fps & 120fps and graded heavily with DeLuts from James Miller.
  16. Amazing work Ricardo! Those images have so much life and emotion in them. You are very talented

    GH4 V-Log LUT?

Is the VariCam V-Log LUT the correct LUT to use for GH4 V-Log footage? http://pro-av.panasonic.net/en/varicam/35/dl.html Or what are you guys using as a starting point for colour grading?
  18. Don't pay too much attention to Sten. He's becoming the new Ebrahim Saadawi...talking about things he doesn't know or own.
  19. You will need a beefy suction cup for a DSLR+whatever lens. It will work fine for a GoPro obviously, but for convenience sake it's easier to use a smaller dedicated GoPro suction cup. Many options available at Hague: http://www.haguecamerasupports.com/car-mounts-suction-pads/
  20. Still waiting on a side by side comparison before I draw final conclusions. But I have a suspicion that the DJI drone has much better stabilisation than the Karma. DJI have been doing this much longer after all. Also I read some reports that the pre-production Karma drones had reliability issues and some would loose footage on the SD card...sounds like they aren't quite there yet for an official product launch....but we will see.
  21. Great to have both options as a consumer. But let's see some head to head comparisons first. I'm interested to see the stability under wind and image quality of both in the same situation. From my experience I prefer to work with the GoPro footage in post. Much nicer colour and less artifacts.
  22. Make sure to copy the "-bool YES" line to DISABLE the automatic app opening. I did it the other way around the first time and that indeed doesn't work... :p
  23. Super annoying! But it seams that I found a fix: You just need to open Terminal and paste the following line: defaults -currentHost write com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug -bool YES To reverse it back to normal just paste: defaults -currentHost write com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug -bool NO Source: http://petapixel.com/2015/12/21/stop-apple-photos-from-auto-launching-in-os-x-with-one-command/
  24. That doesn't work after I have formatted the card in camera. Which I do every after time I have offloaded the files. So basically the mac sees it as a "new" card whenever I stick it in.
