Any who, lots of blah blah about smartphones beating "real" cameras. IMO no camera on the planet is better than another. 
A smartphone easily beats an Alexa. The Alexa kills the GH4. And a GH4 is much better than a smartphone. It all depends on who, where, when and at what cost.
Still, shootouts are fun.
Don't have an iPhone but my LG shoots 200Mbps. My G7 was shooting Cine-D. The XC10 was rocking C-log. 
Had two misses with the ND in the video and haven't even tried to match them in post.

That zoom rocker thing is also cool as hell imo.

It's just a measure of how much highlight DR is preserved by the camera's REC709-compliant gamma curve. Remember, a stop is a doubling of light. So 800% puts you between 4 and 5 stops over middle gray. 

I believe that means 12 stops of Dynamic Range.
Also pushing the Bitrate substantially higher to help preserve details better,  noy to mention easier for post work. 

Think that means 3 stop increase? (If 200% increase means one stop etc)

We cant carry our NX1s, GH4s and A7s with us all the time. For those who want a good 4k camera that you can carry all the time, thats the best solution that I have found.
The best Android phones shoot 4k with a bitrate of aprox 48Mbps. They are not bad, but they have too much compression artifacts, contrast, saturation etc.
A few days ago I found an amazing app, and I would like to share it with everyone. I have no bonds with the app developer, but im afraid he will give up his project if there is not enough support. Im pretty sure he can make things even better.
What we have now with the app is:
 
- Flat picture profile (It recovers a good amount of highlights and a little bit of shadows)
- Better noise reduction (more like film grain. The stock one is very blocky)
- 24 fps - 30 fps
- 200Mbps!!! Thats the best part! Much better video quality. Less macro blocking, less banding etc, so you can recover more detail, grade the videos with the less problems etc.

There is a lot of room for improvements, like more manual control, more control over the picture profile etc. But I do think that, at the moment, thats the best 4k camera that you can carry around all the time!

Rumor says the DIS doesn't loose any substantial image quality, anybody that can confirm? 
And does it work with manual lenses?

​Yes! I haven't figured out how to calculate the exact crop, but it does. It also means you can use a cheap 0,71x focal reducer Speed Booster knock off and still get S35 probably. The Speed Booster XL is nice of course, but the $100 alternatives suit the G7 budget shooter better I think
Thanks for checking Andrew! Even though it is not 4K 1:1 pixel crop, it doesn't seem to add moire/aliasing, according to the test by Cameralabs. If that's the case, I wonder if Panasonic could give the GH4 the new processing method by firmware update...

That will be appealing. Until then there's always the NX1!
It won't be before the A7R II does the whole 4K Super 35mm thing first. Sony want our $3200 and I don't blame them. Look at the investment in the tech they have made, it is enormous.

Have you tested the actual crop factor of the G7 Andrew? According to Cameralabs it doesn't crop as much as the GH4 in 4K mode. Kinda weird, because that would mean it's not a 1:1 pixel crop.

Hmmm...the RX10 IV can't be good news for fps1000 (kickstarter) which still hasn't shipped yet.

It definitely is not 1080p at those speeds. Maybe it's saved as 1080p but looks upscaled. Still, looks better than Nikon 1 at those crazy speeds.
 

TIGHT! This is a game changer for GH4 users!

Being that the BMD Ursa and Mini have been such a hot topic here, specifically the cost of their media, I'd just thought I'd make mention of a decent price drop on Lexar CFast 2.0 cards at Adorama.  Discount is currently between $200-300, depending on the card size.  Hopefully this is helpful to someone who's just waiting for CFast 2.0 prices to  come down before they pull the trigger on a new URSA model... or XC10.  =]

The Micro doubles as good lens mount cap. 

What format will you distribute in? Online, television, theatre screens? If online, 1080p is definitely a safe bet with the advantages stated above.
If you'd like to though, Mattias Burling showed that uploading 1080p upscaled to 4k actually shows a far cleaner image on youtube than uploading the 1080p native because youtube gives it a better bit rate. I'm sure 2.7k to 4k would be even better in this scenario.

An amazing experience.
Why the F55? Because it's light - it can handle insane heat - it has a global shutter and native ISO is 1250 - good for overcranking at night! And I had it on a steadicam for a lot of the shoot - and did I mention it was 120 degree days and it weighs about 6 lbs?
