Geoff CB got a reaction from AaronChicago in Any idea what this is shot on?
I'd guess a C300 using a slightly lower than normal shutter speed.
Edit: Looking at it full screen, yeah it's a 5D Mark 3, not that sharp+canon colors+no moire.

Geoff CB reacted to IronFilm in Adobe updates - Still no H265
The new Premiere has an option to export as H.265, still unknown as to if editing in it is happening or not.

Geoff CB got a reaction from Escapist in Samsung NX1 dynamic range comparison
I've been using the camera for a bit and as a B-roll on a C100 shoot. Seems like there is about a stop less on the NX1. Perfectly usable.
Name of the game really is protect the highlights on the camera, but thankfully it does have very clean highlight rolloff even if you do blow them out.
Great thread on DVXuser:

I don't use wondershare, I use Rocky Mountain or Photon. Hopefully we will see what the camera is truly capable of when an editor like Premiere supports it natively.

Geoff CB got a reaction from Marco Tecno in Your realistic hopes for NAB?
My Hopes:
Adobe announces H265 support for Premiere
Firmware update for the NX1 that adds the 1:1 4K crop mode from the NX500.
GoPro will announce a video camera outside the action sports arena.
KineMINI announces a U.S. Distributor

Geoff CB got a reaction from Julian in Samsung NX1 dynamic range comparison
Pardon me, but if you look at the details of that test it was complete GARBAGE. The reviewer used the stock settings on each camera to get his result, no tweaks to contrast or black level. Also he used a different lens on each camera.
I agree with Jimmy, if your shooting in this scenario just light him properly and the issue goes away. What is more important in this shot to take note of is the skin tone, which is miles better in the NX1.

Geoff CB got a reaction from IronFilm in Nikon 1 J5
I don't know what the hell is wrong with nikon. All they would have to do is add a 24 fps mode and I would use the camera with small c-mount lenses for short films. Why they continue to shoot themselves in the foot when as others say they have NO cinema lineup to protect just completely baffles me.

Um I think the 11mm from the Tokina 11-20 is plenty wide for every application imaginable.

In that price range for cinema work if you need RAW, KineMINI. You can use cineform when your shooting interviews, and raw for more post intensive projects. Keep in mind you have to rig it out and pay more for 4K and Hi-speed.
Don't use Mark 3 Raw on a professional shoot. Creative projects, sure. Never on a set where reliability is a concern. Also, like you said before the KineMINI will make your clients believe they are getting more for their dollar. Also you get in camera backup to SSD with the KineMINI, a godsend if something goes wrong.

Really hoping NAB brings a gigantic firmware update.

Geoff CB got a reaction from Marco Tecno in Moire and aliasing all over NX1 footage! omg!
"Moire and aliasing all over NX1 footage! omg!"
Yeah that thread title isn't negative toward the NX1 at all.
Also again I asked what you are playing it on currently, can't fix the problem without knowing if your playing it on a PC/Mac or on a TV. For PC Pot player is my current favorite to play the original H.265 files on, runs smooth with no scaling issues on my 1080p monitor.

Geoff CB got a reaction from Marco Tecno in Moire and aliasing all over NX1 footage! omg!
What are you using to play it? Are you running the video on your PC to the moniter? What software? Off a USB stick?
Like others above me pointed out, this is a fault of bad scaling, not the camera. I hate negativity about a product created by user incompetence.

Get a shoulder rig man, great shot setups in here but it looks like it was shot with an iphone because of the jitter.

As the house is probably burning at night, AND the a7s cost more, I'd of course grab the Sony!

I'd love to see 4K, s35 BMPCC, with 1080/60p
Maybe slightly bigger body to allow for a small SSD and better battery.
Also hope Adobe allow H265, they usually do a good upgrade around NAB time.

Geoff CB got a reaction from IronFilm in good afordable 1080p?
You can get the Mir 24n and Helios 44 in nikon mount, or you can do an exchange them online with someone willing to switch mount types.

Geoff CB got a reaction from Digital Film Academy in Film School - Institute/Academy
Do not go to Full Sail. I went there for Digital Art & Design, the film program does not have the best reputation. Worse though is that there is not enough jobs available in orlando for the volume of film students in the area (UCF & Valencia are both less than a mile away) and you will have to move to out of the area if you want to find work. Also the tuition is insane, I believe it's currently +$90,000 for 2 years.
Those two New York ones are great, and there is a bigger film making community in the area. UCLA is also excellent, but hard to get into their film program.
