I've been committed to Panasonic for 5 years now that's all I ever use . For my work the Panasonic G7 is an amazing camera , it does all I need and it is superb in low light for the style of cinematography I shoot , I'm regularly three or four stop under exposed , I shot a lot of contrast in light and in colours in the way I light the sets and the G7 handles that superbly it is in my opinion very very good detail in the black areas. No fizz and noise at all  the image it produces is very clean . Pandora movie is nealy finished now we are 39 days into the shoot , once this is completed I move straight onto another movie - a classic British Spy movie that I'm directing and DOP on pre production starts on that next month....so I am shooting this movie all on Panasonic too......watch this space ...

No just use reusable cable ties , they undo and then reconnect , you don't need to cut them off ever

yes I mentioned that in a post a few months back - you can turn the head upside down on the Gini Rigs follow focus and that corrects the Nikon reverse focus issue its very easy to do and I have shot an entire feature film like thta on all my 6 rigs
The Film City matte box works well with the Nikons I use them on the Nikon 28-70mm it has 4x4 filter trays I always used Tiffen NDs
I have 4 Nikon Metabones XL and 4 active Canon EF Metabones XLs that I used on the movie  you can buy the Gini Rigs Follow focus here this is the exact ones I am using :

    Tiffen 4X4 Nds
I stack NDs when outside to keep an f2.8 of f2 stop all the way
so buy ND 2,4,8,16   those four cover it all !

if you are going to get a Speedbooster get a Metabones they are the best construction wise and optically plus  no lens shift on any on mine and Im using 8 X Metabones XLs to shoot a feature film right now ( 4 in Nikon Mount and 4 in Canon EF mount )- they are outstanding and I love them , I wouldnt shoot without them , they are essential on micro 4/3 cameras plus follow focus works really well as there is no play in the lens mount plus I cable tie all my lenses on rigs to the lens support so there is no movement at all of the follow focus - Im using Gini Rigs follow focus as its very big and smooth Im 38 days into a 45 day shoot and they are all performing superb NO issues at all

5 Metabones XLs on my rigs (Gini Rigs)  with Nikon Bourne Lenses for the feature film Pandora I'm DP on .

cable tie your lens to the lens supprt to cut out any movement at all , - it work wonders! use cable ties you can undo each time you need to take the lens off the rig ..

The Angenieux are old 16mm film camera lenses from the 60s. I haven't shot with them yet, because I just ordered them, but from what I've seen online, they seem to be a little soft and dreamy wide open, but sharp enough stopped down a little... With an innate filmic look to them on the BMPCC and BMMCC. If you're looking for tack sharp lenses, then they probably aren't a good choice for you... If you're looking for softish lenses with character and a filmic look... Then they might be something you might like. Check out the c mount lens thread under blackmagic cameras for other options and there has recently been a few posts with c mount lenses under the lenses section as well.

Just say no to the belts. You can get rings for $15-$20. Get one for every lens.

For the price it appears Aputure FineHD VS-2 wins.
That combo of low price and high resolution is a killer combo.
But consider also spending a little more and getting a BMD Video Assist instead.

It would be great... of course I cannot spend a lot, because I'm on a budget, but I could spend something at least for a couple of lenses

I bought the Lens Turbo I 4 months ago, since that I had no problems with the IQ. I use with a 50mm Pentax SMC f1.7, 85mm Canon f1.8, Tamron 24-70.
    This is a great comparison:

Here are my latest two videos shot with it (there are also some canon shots)

A little off topic, but I am looking at a couple AT-X lenses... Which ones do you have? I'll also pick up a Turbo II as well, so this topic came up at the perfect time.
I also have a few MInolta lenses. And am looking at the Turbo II. Which lenses do you use with yours and have you noticed that the turbo looks better with certain lenses?

I've got the RJ Focal reducer M42 to M4/3 & its just fine - no blue spot that everyone goes on about & have even fooled people thinking that it was the official SpeedBooster.
However, I've heard/seen some pretty awful example footage of both the Mitakon & RJ - so all I can think is that QC isn't the best or that some lenses don't play well with these cheaper versions. Personally, i'm using Vintage M42 lenses in combo with Anamorphic lenses (Isco 54 & WS 2000) with no problems encountered (perhaps they hide the ugly stuff?) and I do believe that the newer sharper lenses just exaggerate all the defects inherent in the cheaper SBs. Or are the M42 cheap SBs just not experiencing the troubles - don't know.
Then again, people have had issues with the official SpeedBoosters too, so go figure. Are the official SBs worth so much more, that's between you & your wallet.
I need a Nikon to M4/3 version for my Tokina AT-X Pro/Nikon Ai-s lenses & am on the fence between the Mitakon & the RJ - so much debate about which ones are better & it has become soooo confusing.
Anyone had experience with Nikon to M4/3?

I have both an RJ FOcal reducer (MD -> FX) and Mitakon Lens Turbo II (MD -> M43) and here is my thought on both of them.
The RJ, is cheap and fun to use. But corners of the image gets very soft and it is not good for fast aperture lenses (my 50/1.4@1.4 is dreamy like with the RJ adapter). Built quality is good enough though. I'll just think that the RJ focal reducer is good if you are not seeking sharpness and contrast. (Plus the RJ suffers from "blue flare" which was also present on the first versions of the lens turbo but corrected on the lens turbo II.
The Mitakon is very good in terms of quality. No loss of contrast or sharpness. Build quality is good except that the mount is not stiff enough. The lens can move on it by a degree. Which makes follow focusing a hell ... I do not know if it is a QC problem as I do not know anyone else with a Lens Turbo II MD -> M43.
I used the Metabones once. I dont think it worth the extra money compared to the lens turbo II. Build quality is a bit better, but thats it. Image quality wise, both are very good.

For M42 lenses, there are plenty that have clickless apertures (they call them Pre-Set Apertures), mostly the Russain lenses, the classics - Helios 44-2, Jupiter 9, Tair 11a etc...
It depends where you are in the world, but in the UK this guy de-clicks lenses to a very high standard:

I use only native lenses, particularly the pro Olympus ones, since they have the proper manual focus ring that will actually work with my follow focus. The Oly 7-14 is amazing, it isn't cheap but it performs amazingly. I have left it and the gh4 out in the rain shooting timelapse over night and it didn't skip a beat.
If you are only shooting video, it doesn't really matter a whole lot either way, its just whether you are happy with how much the kit will weigh with those big lenses. If you are using them for photos too, you have to go native.
I went with native mounts, since I dont want a super heavy kit + I need them for stills AF performance.

    Ciao,

I just bought a rig for my GH4 and Micro Cinema: https://www.movofilms.be/movofilms-professional-camera-support-kit.html

Great cage with rod, follow focus etc... for a bargain price in my opinon.
I'm more then happy about it (and the customer care is awesome, very friendly and skilled): I need some gear ring belt for my CY Zeiss lenses and I'm searching something that will not ruin the lenses and that could work with the follow focus.

Are the belt universal? Have you some tips for some nice belts?

    Thank you very much!

I think the blue filter lets through less light. Another thing is that depending on the light, there can be very little blue.
