I tested with the following combos:
NX1 -> Generic NX to EOS EF Adapter -> Fotodiox N/G - EOS Adapter -> Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art in Nikon F mount
NX1 -> Generic NX to EOS EF Adapter -> Samyang 85mm f/1.4 in Canon EF mount
Both combinations hit infinity where it is marked on the distance scale despite the double adapter gamble, obviously you can focus until "after infinity" as on most modern lenses.
I didn't see if shop links are allowed, but to be precise it's these two adapter:
EOS EF to Nikon G: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B008BBIBOM
The super short throw of the aperture lever IS annoying after some use, the blue plastic lever fell off so I superglued it on again and you can only take the lens off the adapter after taking the adapter off the camera... but then there is no way at all to control canon lenses' apertures so beggars can't be choosers and the double adapter combo is more flexible/lightweight than buying separate NX -> F and EF adapters.

I usually just export to uncompressed AVI, then convert the AVI to ProRes. It's a hassle of an extra step, but I only do it when creating a master.

The spread of strengths across the camera industry is driving me a bit nuts.
Only Blackmagic do cheap affordable int. 10bit ProRes.
    Only Olympus do effective stabilisation.
Only Panasonic do cheap 4K in Micro Four Thirds cam
Only Fuji do a film-inspired shooting experience (although Olympus run them close)
Only Sony max out the specs and do a full frame mirrorless camera
Only Samsung do a really responsive fast ergonomic DSLR-style mirrorless camera
Only Canon... I mean only Magic Lantern do raw video.

The A7S II is closest to the perfect camera but the handling is just...so soulless.
Currently I am thinking of keeping hold of the E-M5 II as a stills camera, second to the NX1 and A7S II as my main video cameras.

Hey, even if people think you're a messed-up idiot, at your funeral they'll be toasting your memory in tears. (And I bought an NX1, and yeah, it's a bad little mofo of a camera).

contax zeiss are pretty good, a lot of them are the same designs as the zeiss "Classic line" ZE  ZF.2
and the best part for video work is that they have manual apatures but also spin focus  the right way. like a zeiss ZE ZF.2 hybrid. some of their coatings are not as modern or flare resistant as the "classic line."

And after shooting with both cameras, I can declare with great confidence that if stills are entered into the equations... at all, you can just start saving your pennies now. ... everyone knows it would have better IQ ... it's FF with a state of the art 42MP sensor. I like taking stills as well and thought that the A7Rii would be the perfect hybrid cam but it's not at all IMO. I just hated using it mainly from an ergonomic perspective. Not fun at all. NX1 is a pleasure to use. I'd rather have an NX1 & a D750 than just an A7Rii.
The auto-focus is mythical. -- Try using a D750 ... to me the AF on that cam is amazing ... in any light.
The burst speed is truly something to marvel at - better than the 15fps on the NX1? At least on the NX1 you don't have to walk around the block to wait for the cam to finish processing those shots.
The A7Rii is without a doubt among the best full frame stills camera currently available -- utter nonsense. Many would argue a D4, D750, D810, 5DMkiii, 5Ds are better cameras. Just depends what you are using it for.
Overall image quality is superior on the A7Rii. Colors seem more true to life without the need for tweaking. -- did you get the cameras mixed up in testing? LOL
    9. Pleasing colors (Thank you Sony... at last). ... really??? The NX1 seems to have much nicer colours.
I've had both cameras as well. A7Rii is better for stills for sure (the end result that is .. not necessarily taking the actual shot), but everything else I'd rather use the NX1. Ergonomically I find the A7Rii terrible in comparison to the NX1. The NX1 seems to have everything in just the right place and feels great to use.
The A7Rii also feels drastically underpowered as far as the processor goes and really clunky to use ... like you are waiting all the time for things to happen. It's like they put a V8 in a mini.
I don't get why everyone says the AF is that great on the A7Rii either ... it's good for mirrorless but all mirrorless seem to suck really badly when they light goes down a little ... including the Sony's. The NX1 is worse than the Sony for sure but I don't find the Sony in any way near a D750 or the like. The AF is good for a mirrorless cam ... still no where near a DSLR IMO.
I also hate the fact that it is near impossible to film outside in 4k on the A7Rii as the LCD & EVF dim so much as soon as you press record. Makes it impossible to see what your actually filming. Only Sony's seem to to do this ... RX100iv does it as well. Doesn't happen in 1080p  so probably done to prevent overheating ... perhaps they can hire some soon to be out of work Samsung engineers soon to fix this up
Also, at the end of the day, no matter how small they make the FF mirrorless cams, there's no way around the fact the any decent fast & bright (2.8) AF zoom is going to be a monster and totally unbalanced ... bigger cams seem much better suited to shooting these types of lenses.
That being said, I don't mind Sony and I'm happy they keep pushing the envelope and things like the 42MP sensor and inbuilt IBIS are awesome. I like the little prime lenses as well. I really wish they bring out a slightly bigger version of the A7 series with better ergonomics, much faster processor and no heating issues. This would be a nice camera.

If A7r II has "good battery life", then NX1's battery life should be "mindblowing battery life from different galaxy". It's just joke that you gave them both "good battery life" when A7r II is so much worse.
Cinema4K with NX1 is softer than UHD, so that shouldn't be plus, and 4K with A7r II is cropped which should be huge minus.
A7r II also requires good color grading to get useful results, while NX1 looks awesome straight out of box.

Interesting! Maybe it's best to keep your default contrast in-camera and stretch out your DR with low-con lenses (like Canon FDs and Contax Zeiss) and post work.

Just a note on the max ISO listings - with the latest firmware, I shot a no-lights-allowed project with the NX1, and much of it was shot from 1600-2200 iso. I'm just not seeing any noise to speak of - the footage is amazingly clean. I blasted the ISO until I was just under highlights blowing at f3.5, F4 or 2.8 with some lenses. It's freaking clean as hell.
I assumed I'd be running it all through NeatVideo, but no need. Really kind of shocked.

That is what I finally figured out with the nx500. Every single person was using -5 contrast and I just wasn't getting good results. I assumed the issue was the saturation, but no matter what setting I tried, the colors were all messed up. It wasn't until I read the review by cinema5d that I realized he used default contrast, then all of a sudden everything clicked. A lot of the information out their about Samsung cameras are based on using their lenses, but they work completely different when using vintage glass.

I have not tried an NX1, but I have seen people getting great results. Some of your work is the best NX1 footage I've seen. I really am not trying to knock the Samsung image quality, it's great. I really like my NX500. I have learned a lot about cinematography from it. It just feels like it's lacking something. Anyway, I have messed around a little with some m42 lenses... The Zeiss Jena 50mm f2.8 looks great with it, as does the Rikenon 35mm f2.8. I haven't tried Taks, but I do have a few. I just sold my 50mm 1.4 the other day, but I still have a couple others.
    Anyway, have a Merry Christmas!!!

Well on the trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwXFsrp6WBs
Which is probably shot on the Alexa XT or something there seems to be both blue and red channel clipping in this shot of the headlights. I attached a screengrab from the trailer.
So it's a common problem with all cameras.  I think as well as film, but I don't know.
Shooting police sirens is a way to test.  I think if you can, just avoid these super saturated deep lights with any camera.

I'll give it some use over the holidays. I'm still at home until tomorrow so I can hopefully compare the lenses, check for infinity focus, etc.
I think the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 Art for APS-C sensors is probably a better fit sizewise than the 35mm f/1.4 Art but I have barely heard anything about the optical qualities so far. The Nikon 50 1.8 G was really in proportion, can see why Kidzrevil likes the older Nikkors and FD primes on it.

I find that the NX1 can be very tricky to grade especially for the sky. From my experience there isn't much to do, it's just a matter of being soft on the grading. The image of the NX1 is so clean that it breaks down a bit sooner than a GH4 for instance. It's worse if you have a scene that contains tons of details, then the compression can be stronger -> and you have macroblocks even sooner.

A user-menu folder/section like Nikon has, where you can copy most-used menu items from any menu section.
WHITE BALANCE CONTROLS IN VIDEO PREVIEW!!!
SLOW MO EFFECTS AVAILABLE IN 24P!!!! (Yeah, I can just shoot 60 or 120p, but I like that the camera conforms the clips. Wish it did it at 24p too).
    More customization choices for the buttons than just the ones Samsung thinks make sense;
Option to have the shutter release be the video trigger; Or at least option to make both the wifi and trigger buttons be the video button at the same time.
Wired remote able to set focus point, zoom native lenses, and stop/start video (may already exist but I don't have the wired remote yet) (I use my crane a lot and have yet to take even one still with this thing).
Other than those, my primary ones would be anything that ups image quality.
I'd like to see every DSLR maker that has decent video add a DV pin hole to the body, so anti-spin QR plates could be developed. The hole could also be for the battery grip alignment pin.
Really love this camera and tech, but I fear wish lists are a moot point now...

I'd love to see improved rolling shutter in UHD and a 4k crop mode like on the nx500. These will probably be in the next camera Samsung releases so I doubt we'll see a it in a firmware upgrade for the NX1, but it'd be nice. Also fixing the 8 bit banding would be nice too, but I think that'd be a tough one since it'd probably have to go to 10bit to fix that which would be pretty crazy to do in such a small camera.

Great suggestions ... I'd like to see these if there is ever another FW update or an NX2
    1) Ability to use AF-S in Video ... move the focus point around where ever you want and it stays there instead of going to AF-C when you press record
    2) Choose anywhere in the screen to magnify in MF mode instead of just the centre
    3) Peaking to stay on all the time
    4) Ability to change between EVF and LCD during recording
