k-robert got a reaction from zetty in Canon struck raw, EVF and brighter zoom from XC10 “for cost reasons”
    OMG....
I have been shooting with Canon for many years, never got any feelings about it, they were just tools. But nowadays, I am getting personal feeling about Canon.
It is embarrassing. You treat me like an idiot.
What cost-saving? This is a bloody expensive camera.
Without any lens, you could have realized even more "cost-saving".
No RAW while cost-saving.... Even my little cousin knows, that first comes the RAW then the JPEG.
    Shame.
This is my other favorite.Canon tells us about their fantastic 4K lenses.
Oohhh, yes, they are able to resolve 8MP...
And now you think, what should you put on your 50+MP topmodel

I agree they need to make an AF100 follow-up, and this is't it. That said, I have less than zero interest in an AF200. I simply wouldn't buy one.
As for this new DVX200, Panasonic has my attention and I'll be seriously considering it for our 4k productions later this year.

I think, Canon's success with the C models and DSLR-s, especially in the rental-business, is due to the huge amount of quality Canon lenses being around.
Exactly this benefit is non-existent by this model, with the fixed lens.
Personally, I would only buy a fixed-lens camera, if the lens is very good, as it could never be changed.
In this "category" I am waiting/hoping for the RX20 with a 2,8 lens, capable 4K with a reasonable codec.

k-robert got a reaction from Jimmy in Fisticuffs end new "Top Gear" series - how the BBC risked biggest franchise over catering fracas
    Who is this guy?
    Clarkson?
    A Swede?
Sorry for my question, I haven’t watched TV for over 10 years. I get my news and entertainment through other channels.

    OK… I am joking.
I have read the story. I have even seen a few topgear episodes on youtube.
Obviously this guy has punched his colleague, or though not. Publicly.
So the question is, does the employer have the right to fire him?
What would happen in your company? What would you expect? How could you work together with a colleague, who has hit you? Or perhaps not, but….

Maybe famous people should have more rights?
Like this “gangnam-style-boy”. He has been seen x-million times. A real hero.
For 1 mill. views on Youtube 1 physical assault should be allowed, 5 racist and 10 political incorrect remarks as well. Publicly of course.
For 5 million views 5 physical or sexual harassments, 10 racist and 20 political incorrect remarks should be free.
Maybe for 10 mill. views it should be free once to spit a chewing gum on the pavement in Singapore :-)
    What do you think?

These things are quite cultural. Being an international business consultant, I have worked in most European countries. Maybe you remember the Nokia MD, who was caught speeding and had to pay a certain percentage of his yearly income. Aaauuuggghhh, it did heart.
In another, Southern European country, a famous football player was caught driving 200 within city limits. The policeman was so happy to see him, he asked.
    Are you really….????
    Oohh yes, I am :-)
    Can I have your autograph?
    Yes :-)
A picture with you? Just for my son…
    Yes :-)
Have a nice day! We love you!

I am not an expert on UK issues, but if I was a UK taxpayer and the BBC was operating for my money…  I think, I would prefer the Finnish attitude :-)

k-robert got a reaction from Andrew Reid in Kodak celluloid film saved by studios - oh and by the way - what's the point?
    This special “filmic” look…
    Give me a break.
It is like with wine tasting.
There are 2 kinds of film. The ones I like, and ones I don’t.
And even if there really WAS this filmic look…
Today, I would guess, 99,9% of all films are watched on TV or a monitor! And even in cinemas, there are digital projectors. So what’s the point, making the “ultimate” wine and mix it with cola?
But honestly, I don’t believe in ultimate film quality. Not, if I don’t see it. In the cinema, I don’t see the difference between film-film and digital-film. On the monitor neither. It is also funny, this idea comes from Hollywood, which is more the “fast-food’ of the global film industry. I would guess, in the last successful Hollywood films more than half is animated computer effects… So taking care of Kodak’s film is like McDonalds wanted to protect the ancient wagyu cattle… :-)
The Kobe-beef is premium, I can taste it. But I don’t see the difference between film and digital, furthermore, with the right software I can make a good digital image look like any kind of film. I do like music and I have a good Hi-fi system. Some years ago I sold all my LP-s, because they were not better than my CD-s. The person, who bought them, liked exactly the additional handling and caring with the LP-s, and found the scratches are a natural part of music. And I thought, what a wonderful word, everybody finds and pays for his preferences.

k-robert reacted to Cinegain in 63.7 megapixel raw with the E-M5 II - and finally 24p at 77Mbit!
Each camera has a certain things it does well. The GH2 was great and I just can't get myself to part with it. The GH4 takes it to a whole different level, love it. The BMPCC is really exciting once you get passed the issue of powering it. They're all great, but having a bunch of full manual lenses and the Veydra set coming up... IBIS is quite a valuable feature to have as well. Now, the E-M1 was the only one really nailing that, but as a hybrid shooter, living in a PAL region, wanting to use the camera for filming stuff as well, being stuck with 30p only... it's something you'd happily see getting changed. And I've been praying to several gods to make it happen. So when a E-M5II comes out that gives me that more video friendly vari-angle display and a more usable video mode with various framerates... that for me does it, it is what I had aspired the E-M1 to be for my personal use. Of course... it's still wait-and-see how this plays out. But I wouldn't mind getting rid of the E-M1 in favor of the E-M5II the way things are looking out right now.

I am not a pro, not in the cinema field. I write free-lance articles and illustrate them with my pictures. Nowadays, more and more magazines ask for motion pictures for their online presence, so I am learning film. I can probably sell smaller reports, short films, documentaries…

I trust Panasonic. They have been focused on my segment. They have listened to our ideas and criticism and developed the GH2-GH3-GH4 family accordingly. The GH4 looks like a finished product, not like a must-have idea. The M43 system has a good range of lenses, and the size/weight is certainly a benefit when travelling.

I don’t trust Blackmagic Design. They are very sympathetic but I don’t know, how interested they are in my segment. They look to be more interested in developing new ideas, instead of completing existing ones.

I don’t know about Sony. They look interested but they are so focused on the pro segment, they will probably forget me concerning some features.

I am sure about Canon. I will sell my stuff, I am just fed-up. What can I expect from a company, whose most interesting video features are handled by an enthusiastic hacker/reverseengineering community?

At last, I shouldn’t forget my first love, Nikon. There have been an April’s news about, Ricoh is buying them… I certainly hope so, because I don’t think Nikon is around here as an independent company in 3 years from now.
