Take Pana Leica 25mm f 1,4. It is a great lens for the price. Just check my a short Mazda Cosmo video I made yesterday, wide shots are done by Samyang 12mm T2,2 and all the others by Panasonic Leica 25mm F 1,4:

I use Sony Vegas and I think it is the best editing software. I tried Premiere and FCPX but SV Pro 13 is much easier and much friendly SW :-)
I am so glad that SV is not dead!

I am not an editor nor a post person, but one thing that I always hear from pro editors is that they never edit with a compressed, capture format.  By transcoding all of one's footage to an uncompressed edit-friendly format, computer resources are saved for effects, filters and rendering, etc., instead of continually decompressing a resource-hungry camera format on the timeline.

    1) Open your task manager (in W10 at performance tab, right click on the graph and change graph to logical processors).
    2) Download a GPU monitoring program such as GPU-Z, install it and have it running.
    3) Do your normal editing with the effects that you usually use and observe what happens to the CPU and GPU when you think performance is bad.
What you might see and what you should do:
    a) If GPU is close to 100% (>80%) --> you need a better GPU
    b) if CPU is at 100% (unlikely) there are few things that might happen. First is that some effects in Sony vegas are CPU dependent --> need a better CPU or another editing program (  ). Second is that the codec is hammering your CPU --> transcode to an editing friendly format.
    c) if CPU is not at 100% but a single core is maxing out --> 2 cases from b) (more likely the second, transcode and test again)
    d) If none of the above, transcode to a better format and test again. If the same thing happens, your are probably limited by your GPU memory speed and it does not appear in the GPU monitor --> you need a better GPU.

I don't think you will need something faster than a GTX 970 since in my test at normal playback the titan was sitting ~40%.
But I would first try to find out the bottleneck before buying anything .

Yes you are right. We had 2 Arri lights but still there was a lot of light from tubes. Color grading was done by my colleague and I also think that we should do it with less green.
These are only the first shots and they will be base for final project. We will do some rides with very very rare Ferrari in one month + talks with owners of the company so all the project will be done in 2 months :-)

    Ah, ok, cool!
I can imagine tougher things than having to work with Ferraris for talent, lucky to have that project come your way. All the sexy details and all the brutal slowmos that's good for too! I'm sure it will come out great!

    Hi guys,
I have started to follow this forum 3 years ago. The reason was simple I wanted to learn from the others. At that time I shot documentary and expedition videos with a small Sony handycam all in automatic mode but I felt that I should make it better but I did not know anything about shutter speed, ISO,  lenses, aperture etc. So I read, read, read and ask other people here.
So I bought Panasonic G6 and made many projects. By the time I improved my skills and started to ask money for my work.
2 months ago me and my friend got a great project to shoot and as there was some good budget we decided to shoot it with something special, something I only dreamt of :-) My friend has some experience with Red Epic so we borrowed all the gear and now we shoot car project about restoring and trading valuable cars.
This is our first result that will be on LCD at a big car fair show in Germany this month.
I think that going to eoshd helped me a lot, so thank you all the people here!

Great to see your journey is coming along so nicely! You've worked wonders with that G6, Tepui Dream came out great!
Nice clever motion and lighting in some of that shots. Works nicely. I'm personally just not sure about the 'mood'. It seems very cold, desaturated, modern and real, which probably has a big deal to do with the lighting situation in the garage. But I'd probably think it would've come out a bit nicer with a warm nostalgic tone too it, especially since it's classic cars. I'd try to spark the imagination and mood a little more. For me, now, it's a little emotionless. Have you tried dialing out the blues with a hint of yellow and exeggerating the reds a bit more? Of course it's all a matter of taste and perhaps this is tweaked to perform best on the display that is going to be on the stand. But to give you an idea, this is kinda what I mean:

    versus

    See the difference?

midloch got a reaction from Hitfabryk in Compact hybrid system for travel documentary type fun
    Hi there,
I produce expedition documentary movies from very very remote and wild parts of our planet with no help and of course no electricity. Places like Kombai tribes in Papua (Irian Jaya), Amazonia aborigines, Mentawai tribes in Siberut or mountain tribes in Burma and so on... Last time I made a film from Venezuela. It was a 12 days expedition to Salto Angel the highest waterfall in the world falling down from mesa Ayuan Tepui.
All was shot on Panasonic G6, very reliable camera as you can see here:
So in my oppinion I think that Panasonic cameras are more resistant than for example Sony A7SII (my friend who did expedition to South Pole with A7SII complainted a lot as it is so fragile camera not made to such tough enviroment). And for travel purposes are more resistant and easy to handle.
From my point of view I vote for Panasonic GH4 with XL speedbooster + Sigma 18-35mm F/1.8 that is a travel beast :-)

    Hi guys,
I have just finished my first showreel of some commercial projects I did this year. What do you think and what is your suggestions about showing others what you can do?
Do you think that this showreel can attract some potential customers who want promotional videos for their companies? What are your showreels you use to propagate yourself?

Awesome job on that! Great sense of pulling your audience in with story, visuals and sound. All the puzzle bits just fall in place. I loved in particular the sequence at 14:13-14:19. Well implemented use of motion and composition for the shots. The look came out looking great! Nothing 'meh, M43!' about it. Well done.

Thanx a lot TheRenaissanceMan!  My settings on G6 is -5,-5,-2,-2. The picture is really very flat. I do not use any LUTs or Magic Bullets looks etc. in Sony Vegas, all is graded shot by shot manually. Firstly I decrase colors by "black and white" function then use Color Corector + saturation+gain+gamma+offset, after I play with RGB color curves. I also use the film grain background to make the picture more "organic".
The lenses I mostly use are Panasonic 25mm F1,4 then Panasonic 14mm F 2,5, for longer shots Canon FD 85mm F1,8 and also Practicar Pentacon 135mm F 2,8. It is very important to use correct ND, I use only fixed ND 8 and 4 and 12. As G6 and also my lenses are not stabilised it is somertimes hard to make proper shots when climbing the Tepuy or when wading through the swamp in the jungle

I do not think that G6 is old hat. It is still very capable camera. This adventure movie from Venezuela Ayuan Tepui was all shot on G6 (except of some GoPro shots):
