I know that the EU version have the (stupid) 30 mins record limitation, but it is PAL locked (25/50 fps) or it could be switched to NTSC (24 / 30 / 60 fps)?

I will be in Barcelona next month and would like to get one, but if the region is locked, no game. :/

Correction: looking the official product page (http://www.sony.com/electronics/interchangeable-lens-cameras/ilce-6300-body-kit), looks like that the sensor is not BSI, but a "normal" sensor with copper wiring.

The wiring is on top, not on the back, like in the A7RII sensor:

Marcio Kabke Pinheiro got a reaction from mercer in Nikon bought Samsung NX mirrorless tech. End of Samsung NX (?)
Chipsets tech too - almost as important as the Samsung's sensor tech. Remember, the NX1 samples a 28mp sensor, full readout, at 120fps, and encodes it in H.265 (that needs much more processing power than H.264) without transforming the camera in a ambient heater. And the use of Tizen as the camera's operating system.

I think that Samsung's tech in the processing pipeline (sensor + chipset) is leaps ahead of everyone else, including Sony.

Marcio Kabke Pinheiro got a reaction from Tim Fraser in Olympus E-M5 Mark II - love and hate at first sight
The low light performance was better than I expected. The softness is present, but worked well with the video. Only the aliasing was perturbuing, when filming the car lights.

Marcio Kabke Pinheiro got a reaction from IronFilm in GX8 Images and specs
But Olympus must break on of their "barriers": supply good video. They had the time to do it with the E-M5 II and failed VERY badly.

And since both Oly (cumbersome menus, subpar video, same idiossincrasies generation after generation - like underexpose in TTL flash) and Panasonic looks like have some points that they never address, I'm not much positive about a future IBIS in GH5. Two years after the GX7, and they can't produce a working IBIS for video.

More worried about the new sensor - Sony could be taken both Pany and Oly hostages by sensors. This unit is not BSI, no improvements in high ISO (same perfeormance as the 16mp sensor, which is a relative gain, but relative to the resolution, not in the final image), and no fast readout enough to eliminate crops in 4k; if this will be the base sensor for the GH5 and E-M1 mkII, then Sony left both almost one and a half generation behind.

The incredible 1" sensors from the RX100 IV and the RX10 II have a 6 month exclusivity clause for Sony - they probably will sell them in boatloads in this period. For bigger sensors, could be even worse - BSI could remain an exclusivity to Sony, if the GX8 sensor is an example. And Sony will have a generation gap to control.

My suggestion: Olympus, Panasonic and probably Fuji (and maybe even Nikon and Canon) must have urgent talks with Samsung about sensor supplying. The NX1 sensor is BSI and very good as we know; a Samsung m4/3 BSI sensor, with higher sensitivity and very fast readout (remember: the NX1 have an APS-C 28mp sensor in full readout at 240fps) would be killer, and stops the hold that Sony could put on the sensor market.

Marcio Kabke Pinheiro got a reaction from Julian in Sony has gone internal-4K crazy: A7RII, RX1004, RX10II
About the high framerates of the smaller cameras: yeah, it is upscaled. Full specs of the 3 cameras are already up in Sony's website.

From the RX10 II page, in the HFR section: http://www.sony.net/Products/di/en-us/products/ht7k/specifications.html?contentsTop=1

"<Sensor Readout Number of effective pixels>
    Quality Priority:240fps/250fps (1,824x1,026), 480fps/500fps (1,676x566), 960fps/1000fps (1,136x384)/Shoot Time Priority: 240fps/250fps (1,676x566), 480fps/500fps (1,136x384), 960fps/1000fps (800x270)"

Marcio Kabke Pinheiro reacted to amanieux in Samsung NX500?
yes nx1 is much better in low light than the lx100, even though they have same photosite area (better bsi technology and noise is reduced by scaling down the croped 23,6Mpix down to 8,8mpix, the lx100 is just a 8,8mpix crop)  : same night scene iso 800 (already too much noise for the lx100)
    lx100 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVaA0840d3M
    nx1 (+samyang 24mm f1.5) :  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gdrFX2oFDw
    guess who wins
i am in also to buy nx500 but i'll wait to see samples first because samsung should in all logic limit video quality on purpose to avoid stepping on the toes of the nx1
warning: 800 is the sweet spot for nx1 above that it falls appart and 3200 is terribly bad for a unknown reason

I coudn't say as I've never shot with the GH3.  Only the hacked GH2.  It's better performing than a 5Dmk2 and about the same as a pocket, totally subjectively of course...

Will follow closely the reviews of this camera. Specially one from Andrew, when possible.

I was planning to buy the 12-35mm f2.8 to shoot handheld with my GX7, because of the OIS. But as stated previously, this camera have a lens with better specs with OIS AND records 4k for a lower price than the 12-35mm alone. I guess that the 12-35mm f2.8 might have a better optical performance for stills, but probably not a lot for video.

Will miss the flip screen, and touchscreen will be missed for stills - but I have better cameras for stills.

And to people which wants a single "do it all" camera, it one of the best packages on the market. Very good, Panasonic.

Marcio Kabke Pinheiro got a reaction from jurgen in Olympus E-M1 firmware update to address video mode - but will we get 24p and higher bitrates?
I would put in the list some improvements in focus peaking for video, too. In my GX7, peaking is HUGELY useful, especially with older lenses.

And to Olympus: I've bought the GX7 instead of the E-M1 only because of the lacking video mode in the E-M1. Improve it, and I will buy one ASAP. And a guess that a lot of people too.
