I agree! This is why I'm about to order a bunch of GoPros to stick them in a rig designed for 360, that then gets stitched together in post. It is the only way to do this at a high enough quality and at a still reasonably low cost. (low thousands)

Does Apple make a habit of including on that list cameras which have not even been released yet?? And haven't yet implemented ProRes anyway. Probably not.

My prediction is Canon will carry on being predictably boring. And BMD has never made a "mk2", why start now? No, instead it will be something new, or a twist on an existing product (like the BMCC => BMPCC => BMMCC progression was, each one a little twist and improvement on the way before. But not a "mk2"! Ditto the progression of: BMCC => BMPC4K => URSA 4K => URSA Mini 4K

As you have Nikon lenses I'd recommend the NX1 If you'd have Canon lenses you'd be stuck... as then you couldn't use the NX1 And Panasonic would make more sense then.

It could be to do with the weight distribution, I bet the RX10 is longer and more spread out, while the BMPCC/A6000 with a pancake lens would be far far more compact (and easier on the gimbal). Envious of your liberal flying laws in Switzerland!

True true, I wonder what would've been the reaction to Nikon's 4K if the A6300 had been announced one month early and Nikon's one month later. It probably wouldn't have seemed so shabby!

Yeah, you need a gimbal that probably is a similar weight to the camera itself to do it properly! Which adds up to a lot of weight in total! I really would not fly an RX10, an RX100 would be just about as good but much lighter. Every gram counts!

Nikon will be removing the tiny 4K time limit on the D5 in a future firmware update I read on NR. As for the issues with the D5/D500, have we forgotten already how *bad* the first ever HDSLR was from Nikon? But then fairly quickly they got ok, and then eventually surpassed Canon. I reckon the same will be true with 4K, this is just their first 4K camera. Give them a little more time and we'll see a Nikon D5700 come out eventually which does wonderful 4K for cheap!

I'd go with a Nikon DL18-50 for aerial video instead

The D5's 5 minute time limit will be removed with a future firmware update from Nikon. For time lapses you could use almost any modern stills camera. But if you want to splurge out a little why not get a secondhand Sony A7r mk1 for cheap?

A Scarlet-W base package plus PL mount plus side handle plus a few extra MINI-MAGs will be getting up to nearly three times what the equivalent KineFinity would cost. Not always an option to just go out and do, spending that much coin. However on the flip side of this is the big issue for KineFinity that no client (outside China, as it seems within China they're gaining a solid rep already) would ever specifically request it.... but you'd often get a RED explicitly requested. Thus from a business perspective it can be tough for it to make financial sense to purchase a Scarlet-W, even though it costs nearly 3x as much. Nah, when it comes to owning cameras I'll try to see if my Sony PMW-F3 / BMPCC can last me out for another couple of years, going to resist spending any more money here that I don't need to do. And then when I do upgrade it will likely be to a secondhand Sony FS7 or F5. Or maybe a secondhand URSA Mini 4.6K or KineFinity Terra 6K, and I'll certainly keep my eye out for more user reviews of these two over the next couple of years. But as much as I'll try to resist buying any more cameras.... I feel certain I'll have moments of weaknesses! Quite likely at sometime during 2016 I'll buy a cheap 4K camera such as the NX1. And next month I plan on buying half a dozen action cameras for a 360 Video rig. Plus I'm currently mucking around with a cheap 20 megapixel point and shoot, and if I get the scripting working on that, I plan on buying half dozen more of those point and shoots for a photogrammetry rig. Plus as well as being a video professional, I'm a casual hobby photographer and wouldn't mind indulging myself with a Nikon D750 and FujiFilm X100 one day! (one can dream, but film needs take priority over hobby wants) So yeah, looks like I have my hands more than full with cameras to buy at sometime!

Indeed, I browsed a few Chinese language forum threads and the response over there is HUGE. It is like when an announcement is made on reduser. Maybe this is a reason why they're so poor at catering to the western world? They're already flat out at max capacity just trying to keep up with their local market demand??

Which is the same way RED advertises their cameras as well (plus many other companies too, Sony/BMD/etc). However.... accessories / add on / batteries / media are all *HEAPS* cheaper for the KineFinity system than the RED ecosystem!

Does the X5R share the same sensor as the GH4? I thought the X5 does???? And the X5R is the same as the X5... but with raw?? Or I could be completely wrong here.... (but I know it is true with the Yuneec drone camera)
