  1. And who's this @MichaelCoffee dude? That Australian accent sounds off.
  2. No, but I think we should seriously consider the possibility that Ebrahim may be a Replicant.
  3. I hope that wasn't directed at me, because it couldn't be further from the truth. Anyone who knows me from my time as a cinema5D moderator and 8 years on numerous forums knows I treat everyone with the respect they deserve. There's an old saying: a picture tells a thousand words.
  4. User's Bloom right?

  5. One thing we can be certain of looking at Joshua's video: young Ebrahim has a history of fraud. I'm not buying the hack theory. We know Ebrahim Jnr has a rangefinder. We know an ad was placed from his account on May 18. The OP claims Ebrahim JNr read and didn't respond to numerous DMs (easily verified). Ebrahim Jnr has been active on social media all this time; it's very hard to believe he didn't receive any notifications and an imposter was controlling his accounts.
  6. 1) Ignorance 2) Yeah, no problem. 3) Body damage could be an indication it's been dropped, but mine has a few scratches and it's never been dropped. Shake it and see if there's anything rattling around inside. 4) Dead pixels. Mine has 3. Magic Lantern MLVFS software has a fix. If the seller is just an amateur photographer they may not have noticed any dead pixels. The LCD could have dead pixels too, you won't see them without a z-finder. 5) HDMI port. They break easily. 6) If you wait until the 5D MK4 ships there should be a lot more MK3s for sale and the used price will go down, but the MK4 might not start shipping until Sept/Oct. Happy hunting
  7. I need a high output LED hard light for film location work that can run on batteries all day. I figured it would work out a lot cheaper to get the CN-100F and run it off 24v ebike batteries. The other issue with the 100D is it has a very narrow beam with a fresnel lens fitted, the CN-60F has a much wider range. The fresnel also increases the magenta bias and the colour temperature on the 100D. I don't like fan noise either, but I don't think a mic will pick it up except maybe in a very small reflective room like a bathroom, where I wouldn't use a light that big anyway. Nanguang have $20 bowens adapters for the CN-60F and 100F so that's not an issue. The CN-60F is more versatile, silent, and draws a lot less power with only slightly less illuminance than the 100D. The colour accuracy and design has me thinking I'll be buying a bunch of these 30, 60, and 100w Nanguang fresnels over time. Full CN-60F review here: http://wolfcrow.com/blog/nanguang-cn-60f-led-fresnel-review/ I just realised my 72w CN-1200SA LED panel is made by Nanguang too. The colour temperature and CRI of the panel closely matches that of the Nanguang fresnels. Its output with a plastic diffuser is about the same as the CN-60F at full flood.
  8. New and 2nd hand MK3s will be cheaper when the MK4 comes out. Even with ML the MK4 could have issues like slow rolling shutter, moire in 1080p, and the 4k raw file sizes will be huge.
  9. I found the colors on the BMMCC to be a little off. I was doing some low light tests and yellow went orange. Same setup with the 5D raw the color was perfect. I've never come across or even heard of the WB problem. The last major "pink frames" bug was fixed in April. The only other problem I've had is it sometimes locks up if you do a random button press, but the devs have addressed this too recently I believe. I've never had the MK3 raw fail on me on a shoot. Most problems are related to bad or too slow CF cards. Workflow is really easy with MLVFS, no transcoding necessary with Resolve. I transcode to prores in After Effects for editing. You can also use MLP to transcode to prores. Once you get your head around the workflows it's all pretty simple. 14bit raw files are a dream to work with. I'm shooting my feature with the MK3, or maybe a MK4 if Magic Lantern happens. In regards to the MK3 raw being soft, yeah it is softer than a C100/300, the OLPF got rid of the moire but made it softer than the MK2. Thing is as I and others discovered: you can post sharpen quite a bit without it looking unnaturally oversharpened. This was denoised and post sharpened.
  10. I wouldn't replace my MK3 with any of those, but I'm shooting raw. The A6300 has the worst rolling shutter of any camera since DSLRs did video. The BMMCC is ok, but its IQ is no match for the 5D. 4k eh... nobody ever complained about the Alexa being too soft.
  11. It's a lot quieter than my MacBook Pro, but mine's an old 17" model with a fan louder than my Mac Pro. It's quieter than my 2010 Mac Pro.
  12. Enter the Dragon Just got the NanGuang CN-60F 60W fresnel from China. I’m not easily impressed, but this is an awesome light. I compared it to the PixaPro 100D MKII+. The color temp measurement on the CN-60F is 5650k with a slight magenta bias reading of 7M (23% plus green to compensate). With a full CTO gel the reading was 2750k and 0 bias. The hard plastic CTO gel that comes with it is crap: 24M (80% plus green compensation). The 100D MKII has similar readings with the reflector but gives a measurement of 6000k and 14M (56% plus green) with a fresnel lens attached. The CN-60F isn’t quite as bright as the 100D: 9800 lux vs 13500 lux at 1m, but that’s comparing it to the 100D focused at maximum width (with fresnel). The CN-60F measures 7400 lux flood and 14000 lux spot at 1m. With a reflector the 100D measured 9650 lux. I measured a slight variation in color temp (up to 100k) when the CN-60F is dimmed or focussed. The CN-60F has no fan, but it doesn’t get very hot, just warm to the touch. It comes with barn doors and a padded carry bag. It’s got a 4 pin XLR 12-19v plug so it can run off v-mounts. It’s about the same size and weight as the 100D. It doesn’t have a Bowens mount like the 100D, but the fresnel lens is removable if you want a super wide flood. Maybe there’s a Bowens adapter available for it? I don’t have the Aputure 120T to get an accurate output comparison, but it doesn’t look like the 120T is any brighter. The CN-60F is cheaper than both the 120T and the 100D MKII+ plus it comes with fresnel and barn doors, and has no fan which makes it a winner for me. The output at full flood is about the same as a 72w 1200 LED panel with a hard plastic diffuser (9750 lux w/o diffuser). The only thing it’s missing is a v-mount adapter, but you can pick them up for about $50. This is going to be my go to hard light, I like it so much I’m going to put together a set including the 30w and the 100w models. I'm hoping they're all the same color temp. Ideally there would be no magenta bias, but beggars can't be choosers, and color correction is a thing. The Dragon Image CRI and TLCI readings were excellent, so it could just be that my metering isn't that accurate. I bought mine from Wit Vision on AliExpress, but if you don't wanna join up or pay with a credit card you can get them for the same price on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nanguang-CN-60F-LED-Fresnel-Spotlight-LED-Studio-Light-High-CRI-Ra-95-for-Video-/222172427712 Take note: the listed lux readings are bullshit. The 100D MK II+ will probably end up on eBay. Done. The fresnel I bought for it gives it a hard edge, but the beam is quite narrow at its widest setting, and it increases the magenta bias. Dragon Image's readings would be more accurate than mine, but mine are still useful for a side by side comparison.
  13. I'm not sure it is more powerful than the 60w Chinese fresnel. Sure it draws more power, but there's other factors besides power draw that contribute to illuminance. We'll know for sure as soon as it arrives. There's a 100w version of that Chinese fresnel with a 24v input; if the 60w is close to the brightness of the Pixapro, I'm thinking of getting one and powering it with a 24v LiPo ebike battery. Works out a lot cheaper than v-mounts and should power the light for a few hours. Sending it back is a hassle but it's just not that great as a hard light (which is what I really need it for), with a fresnel lens it's hard but the beam is very narrow. With the reflector it casts wonky shadows. I think that might be due to change from a rough to a smooth reflector surface on the rim of the reflector.
  14. What's the run-time with the 130Wh battery? I think I'm gonna return mine. I've ordered one of those 60w fresnels from China.
  15. There's another Chinese LED fresnel contender http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Focusable-and-Dimmable-LED-Fresnel-Spotlight-60W-for-Broadcast-and-Interview/32595094675.html?ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_10,searchweb201602_4_10017_10040,searchweb201603_10&btsid=e090920e-4c96-468c-9905-efe28aea3239&smToken=1383bb2caa75405f8d462134e1cf35a5&smSign=dAHarG7gPYLgQqyHTLMjfw%3D%3D It's rated at 60w but if the photometrics are for real it's in between the 120t and 100D for brightness; has no fan, comes with fresnel lens and barn doors, should run with lower powered v-mount batteries, and is cheaper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfPsGPY2YtU There's a 100w version too, but it's twice as expensive and runs on 24v DC, so you can't power it with a single v-mount.
  16. The Pixapro battery is rated for a 10 amp load. There's battery capacity (Wh or Ah), and there's load (amps or A). If a 5 amp load rated battery is connected to a 10 amp load the best that can happen is nothing, the worst is your house burns down. I'm not an expert on lithium ion, but I did my homework on AGM and gel batteries when I installed a solar power system a few years back. A high load will drain a lower amperage rated battery much faster. Solar storage batteries are rated at 10hr and 100hr discharge rates; the higher the load the faster the battery will discharge, hence me only getting a few minutes power from the Comer 190wh v-mount with the 100D vs over 2hrs from my 72w LED panel. The Comer max draw isn't specified but I suspect it's 70-80w. A 72w draw @ 14.4 volts is only a 5 amp load. Not all v-mount battery manufacturers specify the max power draw for their batteries which is really annoying. So basically either we buy higher load rated batteries or a less power hungry light.
  17. I noticed you've got the fresnel lens attached in that shot. Where those measurements taken with the fresnel? And does that fresnel actually focus to 40 degrees with the 120T? On the 100D it only goes to about 20 degrees on the wide end.
  18. Same problem here. A lot of v-mount batteries are only rated for 50, 70, or 80 watt loads. You can get v-mounts rated for up to a 135w load but they're usually more expensive. My 190wh Comer battery does power the 100D but it runs flat in around 20min. The 190wh Comer powers my 72w 1200 LED panel for over 2hrs. The 100D MKII is quite bright, I measured 11,000 lux at 1m with the 45 degrees reflector, and 14500 lux at 1m with a fresnel at around 20 degrees. The problem with the reflector is it doesn't cast a solid shadow and creates a bit of a halo effect. It also has a slight magenta cast. I think the CRI figures are exaggerated. I took the measurements with a Cine meter II and a Luxi. I checked calibration against the published Fillex 180E and Dedo DLED4 photometrics and it was bang on. The measurements above were taken 1m from the LED chip. From the rim of reflector it's 8500 lux and the fresnel glass it's 12500 lux. Colour temp is 5800k with the reflector and 6000k with the fresnel. The cine meter tint reading is 15M ( 1/2 plusgreen for correction). It's 11 without the fresnel. In contrast the Fillex 180E (96 TLCI) has a tint reading of 1G.
  19. The pixapro appears to be a lot more powerful than the 120t without a fresnel lens (15000 lux @ 1m with a reflector hood). But yeah CRI is slightly higher and the 120t is smaller and lighter. I got the pixapro because it looks to be the highest output v-mount capable LED for the least money. I think it may be twice as powerful as my 1200 LED panel, which is the brightest light I have (8000 lux @ 1m) besides a 1k tungsten work light I've never used. The LS1 is 10500 lux @ 1m with a 25 degree beam angle, I reckon the the pixapro will be in the ballpark of 20000 lux @ 1m with a fresnel focussed to 25 degrees.
  20. https://www.essentialphoto.co.uk/product/pixapro-led100d-mkii-plus-daylight-balanced-led-studio-light-with-v-mount-battery-plate/ Got my eye on that fresnel attachment too. Let me know if brightens things up much at 40 degrees.
  21. I just ordered one with the v-mount plate. If it's as good as it sounds I'll get another one.
  22. I suspected it was 120 degrees. The reflector gives it a bit more throw, but not as much as a lens. There's a huge illuminance difference between a focussed 15-55 degree light and a non-focussed 120 degree light. Personally I think it was a bit crazy Aputure releasing this light without the fresnel lens; it's stunted without it. Ledgo make a Bowens mount fresnel lens for $99. I can get one in Australia but I can't find any the US.
  23. A colleague of mine recently cut a feature with Premiere Pro; he hated it; lots of bugs/crashes. I've been using FCP since it first came out. FCPX was a bit painful at first but I like how you can tweak it to work however you wanna work. And it's really solid. My plan for cutting my feature is to cut ProRes proxys in FCPX, debayer/render my 5D MK3 raw files in AE, and grade in either AE or Resolve.
