Any one of us could have done the same thing, I probably would have by now. It was well deserved public humiliation, not waterboarding. At that point we had enough evidence to convict, and we had given him ample opportunity to confess, instead he insulted us with more lies. I don't like where this is going with the Ed bashing. Don't forget who the antagonist is in this story. I showed Ed, Andrew, and a few others a compilation of ES's BS posts that I haven't posted publicly. At the time Ed acted, the ads were still live here and on dvxuser, more people could've been ripped off if Jack Bauer didn't act.

Guys I've got another confession to make: In 1977 I went to the kid across the street's 7th birthday party. He had ever single Star Wars figurine out on display. I stole Chewbacca. My mum got a call from his mum that night and she said if I didn't hand it over she would find it. My mum used to scare the shit outta me when I was a kid so I surrendered Chewy. Going across the street and admitting my crime was tough, but its way better than having it on your conscience for 40 years.

Ebrahim we were all your age once, and we've all fucked up and done things we regret, Some of us have even walked out onto a bridge in the dead of night and looked into the abyss. Tony Scott never made the trip back. You have to fuck up, that's how you learn. Filmmaking is all about fuck ups. If you haven't seen Hearts of Darkness I suggest you do. Filmmaking is also about trust, and trust has to be earned. If you want people to trust you, you have to be honest ALL the time. The most important thing is never quit. Woody Allen said something about the reason he was successful is because he kept showing up.

A scammer got wind of ES's scam and scammed him, now you see that's a good storyline. If you weren't a rank amateur ES, you could've come up with something plausible like that. Give it up ES, you can't bullshit a bunch of professional bullshit artists. Your story is full of holes, and it keeps changing; which is exactly what happens when a liar has to tell more lies to cover for their lies. You see, writing a good believable story takes a lot of time and effort. You've been given ample opportunity to provide some REAL evidence to clear your name. As far as I can see you're a fraud just pretending to be a filmmaker; I've seen no evidence to the contrary. All the evidence points to you being the perp. You've been given a chance to own up and instead you chose to continue to insult our intelligence... Man up son!

It's his right. So we couldn't even file a case other than the 1DC theft unfortunately.”

Sorry to hear you got ripped off mate. That ES hasn't responded to emails for a week is more evidence to prove he did it, not like we need any more evidence at this point. If I was hacked the first I'd do (after breaking some furniture) is contact everyone who got scammed, and take down the ads! What I can't believe is: the mods haven't taken down his scam ad yet!!! Nor has he, but that's no surprise.

I reported the rangefinder ad on dvxuser as fraudulent (it was still there), the mods have now taken it down. Was it listed somewhere else?

The other lesson to be learnt here is maybe check peoples bona fides before you take their advice as gospel. Unimaginary filmmakers like me, Zak,....(not so sure about Ed ) have a body of work online you can check out.... and there's IMDB too. If somebody doesn't have either, and they tell you they've been shooting film for 30 years; chances are they're full of shit.

I've been doing a forensic evidence search through some of Ebrahim's posts. Really annoying thing to have to do, but someone's been shitting in our pool, and I kinda like this pool. I'm going to keep quiet for a few days to see if he coughs up the cash, but even if he does I think he should be outed as a fraud, especially considering even if he pays back the money he's still going on with the hack charade. Here's some stuff I found in his posts:
Oct 12 2014: “I own a D5300 (my favourite image) and a 60D (my favourite dedign), 600D,1100D for backup. And as much as it is embarrassing to admit, I just preordered a 7D mk II. Don't ask.”
May 18: Ebrahim started a thread: Canon 1DX-II vs. 1DC - Which one would you buy?
In the first post he said: “I am torn between the two”Feb 1: Post on 1DxII specs “Canon went full in. I just wish they do the same for the 5D IV that I can afford and not cripple the video mode.”
Feb 23: “Since it looks we'll be shooting Technicolour Cinestyle on the 1DXII if we want a LOG workflow, This is trying Cinestyle on 1DC.
Those shots look like upscaled Canon 1080p H.264 to me, not 1DC 4k.
Feb 26: “Using the camera now on rent the problems are really for me only a few dealbreakers when I'm paying this much for my personal camera” and “No, I don't think the 1DC is good value, not something I'll buy. I'll wait and see the 1DXII which supposedly fixes all my issues and is 2000$ less. “

July 11: “I've shot 35mm film for decades…” and “If these differences don't make a difference AT ALL then I have wasted A LOT of time and money shooting on the 1DC and could've just shot the a7s MK one since the day it came out” and “filming is a hobby that I enjoy besides my work as a hospital ER physician/Senior PhD Radiologist”
I find it more than a little strange that there’s no unboxing shots, no first footage, no “hey guys guess what I got”. My take is Ebrahim (21yr old student) has been playing us from the start grabbing info off the web and passing it off as his personal experience. The kid’s an attention seeking wannabee. I haven’t come across anything he’s shot, no camera tests, nothing but talk. I reckon he ripped those guys off so he could buy a better camera, and all he's ever shot on is a D5300 and a Canon APS-C DSLR.
What a pain in the arse. And WTF is Andrew doing?

The way I see it @Ebrahim Saadawi you have two choices: Own up to your offences, apologise, and pay back all the money; OR you can crucify yourself and be banished from the world indie film community for all eternity. If you think for a second you can reincarnate yourself and rejoin the forums with a new identity, you're a fool. Grow up mate, our patience for your bullshit has run out.

The boy who cried wolf. My first impression of Ebrahim Jnr from our initial exchange on this forum was: he's a punk. He got all territorial and thought he could push me around, so I had to spank him. Everything that's transpired here has reinforced that view. It's highly likely he's been role playing all along. I have more than enough legal experience to tell you Ebrahim's talking out of his arse. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me again shame on me.

This isn't a movie? Nobody's amused by the scam. We're all being scammed every single day. How do you think the oligarchs make their money? What do you think usury is? What do you think politicians do for a living? I think you're confusing schadenfreude with some light-hearted solidarity for the victims. Nobody got run over by a tank; it's not the end of the world. Somebody sold me an anamorphic lens that arrived in pieces. I've bought a number of lenses with flaws that weren't noted. I once ordered a bunch of things from a store in LA that never showed up. I can't even remember all the times I've been scammed. It was all money spent that I could ill afford to lose. I didn't cry about it, I just moved on to the next disaster. Laughing in the face of diversity is an essential ingredient to success in the film business and in life. The important lessons to be learned here are: Use strong passwords, and never use the same password on multiple accounts. Admins should not knowingly allow accounts to be shared. Never pay for private sales through Western Union or wire transfer: Escrow is a thing. Trust no one.
