  1. i have tried to look, but cannot see it properly. so you don'use nato? i have uno cold shoe on front of the handle..so i might connect the monitor there
  2. i don't understand how can i attach a monitor while i have the top handle I got today the cage with nato and monitor connector. On th etop of my rig i have put the nato..but can't put both the handle and the monitor...
  3. that's th epoint..i was trying to understand what steadycam would work with xt3
  4. ok thank you..that is what seemed to me, but i was noit sure..So you don't like to use cage a part if you need a monitor..and that is obvious. WHy you don't like cage? i find can be helpfull when doing some movement of the camera...i think coulkd be more stable, moving a camera with a cage form the handle than have it in the hand..what is your opinion about?
  5. sorry i don t understand the meaning of this sentences "Ive always found cages get in the way a bit unless you need to build things onto the camera!"...(i am not english mother tongue..) can you explain different? thank you
  6. hello, i am going to get a smallrig cage for my xt3, i find it second hand at bargain price, so i decided. The cage come plain, no addon. What are the must have? For sure the top handle. I see there are several type LInk to tophandle in smallrig.com From thje cheapest in rubber to those muche more expensive. I don0t uderstan the difference (may a part of the material)..which one to get? What ele shoul di get other than handle? thank you
  7. if you have good video to link ..please! thanks
  8. as i said i have this Digislider Pro Carbon Fibre DSLR Camera Stabilizer, for me was not too bad ad a device, don't know if a glidecam can be better...i am talinkg about the manageability when setting it up. Does anyone have suggestion or link on how to get a proper balance for a steady?
  9. yes i agree much easier with gimbal--but as i said for the use i do of it too muche money..
  10. you said it right, i also use almost everytime the tripod or a monopod. That is why oi dont want to invest in a gimbal. I know that a steady will require more effort than a gimbal, but i am stucked in a previuius step..the setup. After setup i know i come another hard part, the learning of using it... If i just could set it up properly, would be a good starting.i am thinking...may be the gh3 was too light for that steady?xt3 is heavier..could be setup better?
  11. hello, i am thinking to buy an old steadycam. like glidecam hd2000 with my xt3. Because i don t use it so often and because of price, now they are cheap, and more easy to use( i mean no battery and less room), i am thinking can be better of a gimbal. I have already a Digislider Pro Carbon Fibre DSLR Camera Stabilizer (it is the same then the CAME one), but when i tried to set it up with my panasonic gh3 i could never succed to get a very good balance, though it seems a good device. I thought i might depend on the stabilizer, so i think if i get a glidecam or similar i might get it to work properly. What is your opinion about?
  12. sometimes the movements are really an abuse in quantity...they all want to move the camera 🙂
  13. you are right, in this scene, the shake is well appropriated to the subjet. i put this link as it was the first i found, but in this case the aesthetic is clear. I just wanted to show what is the kind of movement i am talking about. i agree, this could be handheld easily. other times i don t think it is. Other times i don't see any reason to make these slight movement of the camera but they are there...Now that you know what i am talking about you ll find several example of this
  14. for example this check the first sequence after credit
  15. it was just about aesthetic the main reason of my post. Being graduate at cinema studies ( in my univesity the sutdies are all about thery..not practices) i am interested , a part of all the techniques parts, also about all the question regarding language, ahestetic and so on. My main think about this kind of shooting i am talking about here is that most of the time, it does not really look like motivated. To me i seems more a kind of habit, a fashion style of thelast years that should give some more "live" feel to the action. Sometimes this shake is more noticeable than other..looks like a kind of "fear" of a steady shot on a tripod
  16. ok can be that, how is made. I want to know more, about the lanuage. Why they use this and not the tripod?what the director want to achieve with this shaking. I think that even with that shoulder mount, the image could be more stable, so i say that that shake is wanted
  17. hello in the last years i see this kind of shot in lots of movie Camera is shooting a subect or two, or a situation, not making typical movie, pan, or tilt, but has a kind of continue little shake. Seems like if it is handheld, but i don't think it is. To me it is on a tripod and continuosly slightly moved I would like to know more about this, who can help? thanks
  18. ok i understand that focal lenght and f stop are crucial. are we talking about dop or something more?
  19. yes that is for sure, about lighting and location. But, for instance, what about outdoor? with natural light i can still see a big difference. Not as big as indoor of course. I don t' really look for a "movie look" but at least not to look "too real", you know what i mean. Lens yes, that can make difference, may be using some vintage ones, not having cine lens can help? Where do i find the GHA lut?do i need to shoot in flog for better using it?
  20. hello need some suggestion with grading. My xt3 does beautiful images, but at times grading is needed absolutely to make the footage looking like "films". It is a pity to have such a beautiful camera and have sometimes result that is so far from any kind of cinema look; it looks too real. If i see it on my pc is still not so bad, but on my tv no .... I attach a frame and i ask you what would you do. I have done some work on contrast and saturation Please give me some hint..i will study cc soon because i find it so important... thank you
  21. please remove this user i made a mistake and enter using a google linke dprofile, forgot i have one with a registered mail. So please, i am the same user Stefano Capasso can be removed" thanks moderator
  22. hi thanks..you said relevant things but i don t understand how to manage 🙂 af c and postiion the focus box where i want. ok. you mean , by using the finger tap or using the button? would like to have a detailed explanation if you vcan also aout the face detection, you said to turn it off, why? and how do i move between faces with button? thank you
  23. hello need some help with autofocus in videomode. With all change made form firmware, and also because i have never used that much my xt3 i don't have still so clear how to use it Mainly, for now, i want to be able to control focus either by pressing with my finger on the screen , to have that part in focus. Or, once i have set my focus box somewhere in the screen the focus should be always automatically in that box, wheter i move the camera or what is in front of my camera change or move I have notice that if the camera autofocus on a part on its own, is slower than if i tap on the screen t focus. And sometimes that slowness is better.but i don t exactly know how it works The use of that function on the screen, the hand with finger on upper right corner, yet it is no very clear. AF,area,off,shot..If i set it to AF, when i tap the screen goes to off,,, well i have some confusion, for start i woul like to know how to focus in the 2 ways above, while mantaining face detection. Btw, can detect 2 faces? thank you
  24. in manual focus i see the rig only on tripod. I want use the rig also in my hand for little movement or run and gun like situation. That way side and top handles are both useful, and both of them will require autofocus, what do you think?
