Sebastien Farges reacted to Trogdor in Quick release solution for taking lenses
For all of the clamps that get anamorphic adapters onto taking lenses, I've been struggling to build a kit where I can quickly switch out the taking lenses without having to realign the adapter. But I think I've found a good solution: reverse macro adapters.
Reverse macro adapters (if you don't already know) are meant to put a lens mount on the front of the lens, so you can flip it around and mount the front element to the camera. There are also 'safety rings' that then lock into the lenses original EF mount to protect the rear element, and also gives you a threaded ring for whatever you want to put in front of the lens.
So I found a cheap EF mount reverse macro system on Amazon, and with some step up and step down rings, mounted those puppies to my Rapido FMJ and RMJs, and boom: swapping my taking lens is not only quick, but also locks in with the anamorphic adapter already aligned : D

THREE FOCALS, a Seb Farges movie
    with Cannelina model
This is a movie shot with three different focals from SLR Magic
    Anamorphot-65 1.33x anamorphic adapter on the 50mm
    Microprime Cine lens 50mm t1.2
    Microprime Cine lens 24mm T2.8
    all shot @t4
Everything looks sharp, the anamorphic adapter too.
The Cine lenses are a real pleasure to use, they are strongs and solids.
Double focusing with the Anamorphot is helped because of the calibration of the lens : for example when you are at 2 feet on the taking lens, you set the anamorphot at 2 feet.
The Anamorphot is vignetting a little with the 50mm, so some of the clips are cropped at 110%. It’s weight is quite light (780Gr) and it has the new high resolution coating.

It's incredible cosimo ! And I'm surprised it's working on FF with a 58mm taking lens. . I don't know what others Super 8 anamorphic lens can do so, none I supposed. What is your "invisible" clamp ?

Sebastien Farges got a reaction from keessie65 in Iscorama Pre-36 first hands on with differents taking lenses (Sony A7RII)
I'm a lucky owner of an Iscorama Pre-36 since May 2020. I had a few opportunity to film some clips this summer, here they are.
After having the experience with Bolex Moller 16/32, babies Hypergonar and Isco, SLR Magics, I think this Iscorama Pre 36 is a total gem. It's small and light, sharp and single focus. It's only default is its 2 meters minimum distance focusing. I'm so in love with it 🙂
You will see different taking lenses (mentioned during the movie) here such as :
    Helios 44-2 58mm f2
    Super-Takumar 55mm f1.8
    Pentax-M 40mm f2.8
    Pentax-DA 70mm f2.4
    Pentax-M 135mm f3.5
Everything was most of the time shot wide open.
I'm surprised how the Iscorama performed well with tele lens such as the 135mm from Pentax.
The Pentax-DA, which is an APS-C lens, is working on FF, even with the Iscorama. It's maybe one of the smallest and lightest 70mm ever made (131 grams for 26mm long).
The pancake Pentax-M 40mm f2.8 gave slight vignetting.
The Super-Takumar 55mm f1.8 is working very well.
And of course the Helios 44-2 58mm f2 is pairing very well with the Iscorama, for who who like vintage and organic look. It's design is also great, it's deep front is perfect for the Iscorama protubing back (with the add of one 49mm spacer made from a filter).
Shot on Sony A7RII 4K 24p, full frame mode.
    Diopters : Tamron 0.5x and Pentax 6X7 close-up achromatic (1X ?)

Sebastien Farges reacted to Chronoscope in The super-rare "Baby Kowa" 2x Anamorphic-8 adapter...WOW!
Designed for super8 cameras....the smallest 2x scope out there.
And believe it or not?  This thing is superior to the much-drooled-over baby hypergonar. Significantly so.
I own two baby kowa 2x's, and one baby hypergonar....all of them are in near-new condition. The hypergonar was practically "New Old Stock" shape.
Anyway, here's a couple pics of it mounted tucked inside a Rapido FVD8a, along with a screengrab of fellas on the porch talking. Also some pics from around the net of what the baby kowa looks like by itself (since mine are mounted in rapido FMJ, dont feel like removing right now)
Shot not lit or anything...just stuck a camera there and recorded a bit; GH5 was on Natural profile, in 4:3 "4k anamorphic" mode (3328x2496), ISO 800.
Taking lens is a Canon nFD 50mm f1.8, mounted on a 0.71x Zhongyi speedbooster. Aperture was set at 2.8 (on the lens).
Yup...the baby Kowa is able to cover 50mm at around APS-C/S35, with no real vignetting/portholing on corners/sides. The sides have been cropped to achieve 2.35, but the cropped portions were fully visible. Of course...such coverage requires careful choice of taking lens, with a small front element that is very far forward so kowa rear lens can be very close.
The flares are soft, understated, and beautiful...pinkish purple.  I'll upload a test clip showing that off as soon as I get a moment today.

Nice lens but I must say that shots have been fired 😉 I own the Baby Hypergonar and did own the Kowa 8 2x before I sold it. I would slow down with the Baby Hypergonar bashing. First of all, my copy and another friend who has the same lens both confirm that we could not reach infinity with the Kowa 8 2x. It is a lovely lens and you have produced some really nice images but nobody puts my Baby Hypergonar in the corner 😉

I have just updated my movie  "Covid-19 in anamorphic Before and Now" with the end of the lockdown. I'm lucky in a cinematography way because La rue Sainte-Catherine in Bordeaux is a street where wearing a mask is obligatory, so it's very filmic !

AND I am since two weeks an happy owner of an Iscorama Pre-36. All the shots with crowd + mask are shot with it. You will NOTICE too few shots done with a TILT medium lens (Volna-3 80mm 2.8) used as a prime with the Iscorama.

La rue Sainte-Catherine is the longuest pedestrian street in europe, 1km250.
It's located in Bordeaux, south west of France.
Each day thousands of bordelais and tourists from all over the world walk in this street.
Since the 17th march 2020, lockdown has been in place in france.
This street has never been so empty.
This is a run and gun, street video style, a hommage to the bordelais.
It's a mix of archives, filmed in anamorphic, from 2012 to nowadays, this covid-19 time.
One day all the crowds will come back to la rue Sainte-Catherine, Bordeaux, France.
Let's enjoy life and people through these contemplative moments.

I had 3 and sold one recently for 2k. It's an amazing piece of glass. I got the HCDNA machined to fit the Inflight. The one on the top in picture. Redstan makes a great clamp for it.  I shot this with the GH4 a few years back. The Inflight really transforms to the taking lens you use.
