  1. Well that's because of the protrusion of the outer lens, isn't it? Could there be some other way for it to have a filter thread or some alternative solution?

Yep. Mattebox works but I dont know of any other solutions. I just saw a photo of the 16mm and it has a filter thread.
  2. detail in the image and alot less moire from all the tests Ive done with both

G6 sensor is alot bestter than gh3 sensor for video

How do the lower bitrates hold up in post compared to GH3?

  3. Why does it have to be one of the two?
I repeat, they're not late yet, they said it would ship in July, so if cameras get to the stores by late August I don't see that as "late".
However, if they do fuck up again, I'll be the first to point the finger and blame the way they're doing business. Just not before.

It doesnt have to be one of two, i'm just posing a question to determine peoples tolerance.
  4. I shot with the 12-35mm for the first time this week, and I did some A/B ing against SLR Magic 12mm, and Rokinon 35mm. The 12-35 was actually sharper that both. Although I preferred the images from the 2 primes. They just had a different look about them. The 12-35 was a little sterile for some reason. However it is an awesome "all around" lens. Super sharp, image stabilization, and nice zoom range.

  5. Isn't it a 3.5-4.5 lens? I'm sure it's nice, but if he's looking for a fast cine prime, it's a whole different beast. The T1.5 on GH3 comes in very handy. If I were shooting on full frame then I'd totally be comfortable with 3.5-4.5.

  6. No doubt prices will drop, but I don't think $2300 is unreasonable. Good tripods, sliders, jibs cost as much or more. There are alot of precision technical components working in these things. I got to play with the Movi at Alex Buonos workshop and it's pretty impressive. He said that when they demo'd it to JJ Abrams, he had an intern try and recreate a shot from Star Trek that took an hour to set up and maneuver. The kid picked up the Movi and nailed it in one try.

  7. I agree with you about the Canon colors. Of course colors can be manipulated in post, but straight out of the camera the colors are very nice on Canon cameras. It's just a shame they have such mushy resolution. I don't understand why they can't fix this.

  8. Raw on a DSLR is great, but this video just goes to show why compressed video is fine as long as there is content worth watching. I found this badly shot, badly edited and without anything to say.

Art doesn't necessarily need dialogue to "say" something. I think it's pretty abstract and one could take away many things from it.

  9. Make sure to use a lens with Image Stabilization if you're going handheld. Otherwise it will looks a total mess, like what you described with the wobbling. If you're using prime lenses with a tripod or shoulder rig then you should be fine. I agree though: the jittering and wobbling of DSLR is an instant turn off.
