Looks great! I'm stoked to hear more about Philips experience with the camera. Also curious to see if any of this was recorded with HDMI out or straight to card.

I dont agree with statements like "cameras dont matter" "good story is all you need." Some people are camera operators/cinematographers ONLY. That's their job to care about the fine details of a camera. Leave it to a good writer and director to create the good story.

Not sure. If its working on Macs then I dont see why it wouldnt work on a PC. If it doesnt then get a $100 Nvidia card with 1GB of Ram and install the simple hack. I'm using a GT440 and its flying.

The whole CS6 suite is ballin. I've been playing around with Speed Grade the last couple of days. It's insanely fast and plays DPX files in real time while changing parameters.

I think there will be a right movie for this 48fps look. The Hobbit is not that movie though. There are too many associations with the cinematic look of LOTR. The costumes will seem hoaky.
In my opinion, a movie like Tron Legacy would've been a good candidate.

If you're not making money in this arena, then obviously its a poor choice, financially. If you are doing a personal "film" project, then rent a camera and save yourself a lot of money. If you ARE making money then I would say this is a good investment.

Nice job on getting the accurate tip.

The XF100 sensor size doesn't even come close to the 5D.
XF100 is  a 1/3" (6x4.8mm) sensor. 5D is 34x24mm.

Regarding the need to transcode for color work. I've recently discovered that Premiere CS5 and above, automatically expands footage to 4:4:4 ,32 bit float, in the timeline! No more transcoding to get latitude for finishing.
Also regarding sharpening, Unsharp Mask works wonders compared to the plain ole Sharpen.
This footage is looking great in my opinion though. Thanks!
